Insistent knocking on the front door of my apartment woke me up sometime the next day, rousing me with a groan and finding Seren’s arm covering my face. After carefully extracting myself from underneath her, I got up and made my way over to the door.
“Do you have any idea what time it is?” Eweleanor demanded as soon as she was revealed to be the one behind the knocking.
I sleepily looked around to find a clock, before uttering, “Huh…”
“Well?” she asked insistently. “You got home well before today’s classes were set to start, so how come I had to get your substitute teacher called in a hurry?”
“I overslept?” I answered honestly, if sheepishly.
“You overslept?” she asked dubiously. “You overslept? You, a woman who doesn’t sleep, overslept?”
“Yes,” I answered honestly again.
She gave me a very unamused glare. Really at the end of her ropes.
“I swear, I overslept,” I pleaded. “Seren and I were up late, talking, and we… um, I fell asleep afterwards.”
Her jaw grew slack, turning her mouth into a very nice, surprised O. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
I simply shrugged and closed the door, before returning to my bed.
