My sincere gratitude to G_Mango for giving a vote (on Webnovel), thank you!

A small feeling of success coursed through his mind.

The man was acting out of loyalty to the ambassador and his son; nonetheless, he was willing to bow down and beg Alex.

In his mind, he had accepted that Alex had some great background and was his better in terms of power.

Furthermore, he should believe that Alex’ backing was at least equal to the ambassador’s if not superior.

“First step of gaining a subordinate: a success!”

He enjoyed the happiness for a moment before returning his attention to the task at hand.

Alex was minding his time, after all he had left Weite alone for almost three hours now.

While there would be more opportunities to bond later, Weite’s potential value was higher than this man’s.

Having a memorable first meeting was important.

“Better wrap it up.”

With such thoughts in mind, he replied to the man:
“He is enough of a brother for you to beg in his stead, however, could you give me his word in his stead?”

The man understood: While he had been raised by the ambassador’s father, Jonson’s grandfather, he was also a subordinate of the ambassador. Could a subordinate make a promise in the name of his superior?

But what meaning was his begging if his superior later decided to pursue this matter and get revenge for his son?

“I can give you my word that I will clearly explain the situation to the ambassador.

“The ambassador is a far smarter man than I; if I can see it, he certainly…”

“Only a few moments ago, were you not asking me to apologize?

“It seems to me that you yourself do not believe that he will let it go otherwise.”

This was true. The man had originally underestimated Alex’ background, but the young man’s reaction had changed his mind.

If he had not personally seen it, would he have interpreted it the same way?

Or would he have believed it to be an overestimation born of the arrogance of a green kid who knew nothing of heaven and earth’s immensity?

While the ambassador trusted him deeply, he would assume that his subordinated had been bluffed.

Nonetheless, he could not give up; if he did, they might all die.

Thus, the man spoke,

“If you could reveal your distinguished family name, I am confident that I can explain this.”

“Vikrant Adhikari, are you asking in your own name or as Tomas Miler’s subordinate?”

While Vikrant Adhikari had expected the other party to know about the ambassador, it was a little unexpected that the other party had figured his own name out as well.

In response to the question the man, Vikrant Adhikari, smiled wryly and said,

“I am aware both my identities are likely not qualified to ask that question, however, …”

Adhikari struggled to get on his knees and bowed before continuing,

“I am sincerely begging you, please give me this chance to resolve it peacefully.”

Alex looked him over before smiling and responding,

“It is unlikely that you have heard of my family name, but perhaps you know a man named William Glaisdon?”

William Glaisdon was a L6 member of the Organization and its unofficial face in Mei Country.

If Adhikari did not know the Organization, it was still likely that he knew Glaisdon’s formidable backing.

As expected, when Alex mentioned Glaisdon, the man’s face changed.

It took him a while to recover, finally he asked,

“Is Young Sir a subordinate of Mr. Glaisdon?”

Alex laughed for effect:

“We belong to the same organization, but I am not his subordinate.”

While a L6 member was frightening in the eyes of most, it was nothing to Alex.

Adhikari was frightened because Alei’s words seemed to imply that he was on an equal or even higher level than Glaisdon.

Someone on Glaisdon’s level was not someone the ambassador could afford to offend.

Just as Adhikari was contemplating whether to ask Alex for proof, Alex said,

“If I sent you an ident signed with Glaisdon’s authorization, can you resolve this?”

Adhikari’s eyes widened: this meant that the young man was on a higher level than Glaisdon; otherwise, how could he casually use his authorization to sign messages?

“Most certainly!”

“As I said earlier, I want an apology and an insurance. Furthermore, if he wants his son back alive, there will be a price.”

Adhikari nodded and did not ask for the price: the young man was well-informed, and there would be no reason to ask for a price they could not pay, so it must be something the ambassador could afford.

“Haha, he did not ask. Then he will be quite surprised when the ambassador does,” Alex thought.

The price Alex wanted the ambassador to pay was his subordinate, Adhikari.

‘Stealing’ subordinates from the ambassador was very different from commandeering them from the Organization:

Subordinates gained through the latter method were mostly loyal to the Organization, not himself.

Adhikari on the other hand would only have residual loyalty to his former Master; this was someone with insufficient power to scheme against Alex.

At the same time, Alex finished untying Adhikari.

The man was not stupid and continued to kneel on the ground, not making trouble.

Alex walked to the table where he kept equipment of Jonson’s guardians and picked up Adhikari’s Wristpie and data shades.

He carelessly threw them to the man:

“You can take your Young Master and leave.”

Then he thought for a moment and pointed at the bodies of the other men:

“Do you want to take them with you?”

Adhikari’s eyes fell on the men; some of them had betrayed their master in a twinkling while others lasted longer.

In the end, amidst the sea of pain, everyone had forgotten their loyalty.

Adhikari seemed lost in thought, but finally he sighed and said,

“I will take them. Can I get a trolley from upstairs?”

Alex was secretly pleased,

“With them taking care of the corpses, I can save time.”

As for those bodies being evidence…

On their level, evidence of such crimes was not worth much as it could just as easily be made from money.

Outwardly, he projected annoyance:

“Sure, sure. But do hurry up. I still have things to do here.”

As much as he did not care about the evidence, he still wanted to take possession of any recording devices stored in this room.

If the big boss ever asked him to provide a report, they would come in handy.

Adhikari quickly returned with a trolley and left with the dead bodies as well as his unconscious young master.

After removing two recording devices, Alex exited the mansion.

Since he had summoned it beforehand, his car was waiting for him in front.

“Now it only remains to be seen how drunk he got…” Alex thought and set his destination to Kay Bar.
