They ran up and over the horizon, making an effort to not trip on their skirt that was stolen from the neighbors closet.

They wore a white mask covering the top half of their face, the mask was made of hardened clay or wood it was hard to tell from such a distance.

Alexander turned around and waved at Charles shouting “Hurry up, we’ll miss the flowers”

“I’m coming, why did you have to take me to see some flowers?”

“You’ll see, they’re special.”

Alexander started running back down the hill to grab Charles’ hand.

“Hurry up.” They began pulling on Charles' hand.

“Okay.” They both began running, Alexander lifting up their skirt to not trip over themself.

They rushed through the fields to the forest aside town, the forest was highly discouraged from going into for as long as the sun shone.

Alexander didn’t care for their life, “Alexander are you sure it’s safe?” mumbled Charles.

“Of course, just hold my hand, you’ll be safe.”

“Okay.” Charles held Alexander’s hand as hard as he could and kept running with them till they got to a small patch of flowers.

“Good, we’re here on time, just watch.”

Bee drew a small piece of glass out of a pouch in their left shoe.

They held the piece of glass underneath the flower’s petals, grabbed the stem of the flower and swiftly pulled up the piece of the glass.

Through doing this the petals parted and a red juice came out, Alexander grabbed a small bottle from their pouch and collected it, as the juice came out the colour drained from the flowers.

What used to be a red as red flower was now a sad gray colour.

Alexander put the flower, jar, and glass into their pouch.

“That’s nice but why did I have to see it.” Asked Charles

“Because I didn’t want to be the only one in the world to see this flower. Now let me show you something.” Alexander grabbed a fistful of flowers and pushed their fingernail through the stems of each then they threaded together two flower crowns.

Alexander placed one on Charles' head and the other on their own.

“Now we’re both kings,” They said. “Kings of flowers.”

“We ought to be going home,” Said Charles.

“Charles, live a little, we're adults, we have our own life. You don’t have to abide by your mother's rules anymore. We could stay up all night reading and talking.”

“I don’t know, I'm so used to following her rules.”

“That’s okay, so are you walking home?”

“Yeah, sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry, I’ll walk with you.”

Alexander lifted themselves off the ground, held the pouch in their hand because they didn’t want to damage the flower.

“What type of flower is it?”

“It’s a flower that doesn’t exist so I shall call it Red’s Dawn”

“Red’s Dawn, huh, that’s a good name.”

“Thank you, Charles.”

“No problem, it’s a good name. ”

“Not about that, thank you for coming with me to see the flowers. I don’t like many people so it’s great when I am with someone I actually like.”

“Really you seem like you like everybody.”

Alexander looked away from Charles and stared into the skies, they didn’t look away from Charles because they loved him or anything like that Alexander looked away for another reason.
