Serena flew in her bird form towards the top of the buildings that were connected wonto one another. As she had suspected, Kenji was standing on top of one of them.

When the red bird transformed back into Serena, she rolled on top of the building and balanced herself in a crouching position. Kenji yelled:

“Divine containment”

When the defensive purple orb engulfed him again, he charged at her. Serena pulled out a paper bomb from her bag and threw it towards Kenji. He dodged quickly by diving to the left and the bomb hit the floor beneath him and exploded.

So, that orb can’t defend you from everything, huh?

Serena typed on her wristboard and summoned her gigantic flaming phoenix bird again.

“Take this”

As the phoenix cried and flied over the building tops, the roofs of the building heated up and turned into lava. Kenji’s spell completely protected him from the effects of the phoenix. But he had to admit, it was scary. Everything around him was covered in fire and after the devouring fire bird went past him Serena was nowhere to be seen.

But his confusion was broken by the pain felt at the top of his head. She had stabbed him with her sword from above. He yelled and fell on his knees, but immediately he got to his senses and stood up. But Serena stabbed her sword through his back and its tip bulged out from his chest. But ignoring the immeasurable pain Kenji tried stabbing back with his sais but Serena, leaving her sword intact in his body, swiftly jumped back to avoid the hit.

Kenji turned around with rage and stepped forward. Only to step on a paper bomb which Serena had carefully set under him. The blast knocked him to the air. He flew and plummeted down to his left side and crashed back on the stone streets. Seeing the defensive orb surrounding him disappearing Serena summoned her gigantic bird behind her.

“Phoenix dawn” she yelled with satisfaction and attempted to bring her hand down but stopped, seeing  Gabi getting in the way.

“Please, stop the fight. He is an ally” she yelled.

“What are you saying? He tried to kidnap you”

Remembering that the scene that took place wasn’t just a dream Gabi’s face became horrified. But she shook the doubt off her face immediately.

“I don’t know what happened to him. But please, you mustn’t kill him. He saved my life before, I’m sure he has his reasons”

Kenji groaned and opened his eyes.

“Kenji!”

Seeing her concerned face and worried eyes he could do nothing but sigh.

“Don’t move. I’ll pull the sword out”.

While Gabi struggled with the blade that got stuck in his body Serena looked at them with contempt and jumped off the top of the building and landed on her feet.

“For the last goddamn time. Stop having a fight here you bastards” yelled a tall bulky man with a long beard as he jumped out from the door of one of the buildings.

“Don’t order me what to do” hissed Serena at the man.

Seeing the enormous phoenix towering behind her the man bit his lips, smiled and went back into the building. When she turned around, Gabi had already removed the weapon stuck in his chest and pulled his arm and helped him to stand up. Serena gave a cold look towards him as she came close.

Kenji too was not friendly but there was some genuine respect in his eyes. She nonchalantly took the bloodied sword from Gabi and put it into her bag without worrying about being attacked at all, seeing as she had already declared herself to be the superior warrior.
