A hammer sent, one shell in the loaded pair launched as the pin is struck. The blast of firepower is enough to knock the well built man down from his kneeling position, a payload screaming in lethal flight as it exits the barrel.

He misses.

The fired round roars past its intended target, impacting paved stones with insane force. Mechanisms activate, a stored power unleashed.

Stone liquifies to plasma on impact, penetrative potential traded for raw kinetics as the shell transfers an impossible energy to the world. Gravimetric distortions collapse, a singularity produced for a fraction of a nanosecond evaporating with demonic effect.

The explosion rocks the old city district, an arcane artifact wasted by human error. Jacob swears as he kneels back up for the follow up shot, taking a deep breath as crude crosshairs shake in movement.

The Judge takes him down.

A rifle round rips through the Enforcer’s shoulder, his form stumbling back as it falls onto the cold steel of the cargo bed.

“Jacob!” Maddie yells as she watches him crumple.

The next shot from the pursuer impacts the metal body of the vehicle, sparks flying from the near miss.

A divine instrument spinning to life, five barrels of vengeance spewing a stream of tracer fire towards the Judge.

Harmless bullets shatter upon armored forms, flashes of sparks forcing the old man back into the safe confines of the car.

“I’m fine!” Jacob grunts as he grabs his right shoulder. “Augh, no I’m not.”

Pain suppressed from shock and adrenaline the Enforcer attempts to wield the fallen shotgun. A muscle unresponsive, the cold tearing of bone felt within overloaded nerves.

“Something’s broken.” The man informs calmly. “Am I bleeding out the back?”

“No.” Rin replies.

A grunt as Jacob catches his breath, the warmth of blood seeping down clothing. “Next time I plan the job Maddie!”

The Bandit ignores him in rage, the minigun blinding in its application of divine power.

The Enforcer retrieves the medical kit from his vest, arcane devices unorganized in storage. A single aluminum lined squeeze tube of chemical sealant found and cracked open, the scent of fumes lost to the howling wind. A pale black paste is applied to the bleeding wound, the burning sensation sending flashes of pain throughout the body of flesh.

“Every time…” Jacob grits as smoke rises from the applied site, wild eyes turning to the Driver. “Damn it Issac, remember that I’ve got a bullet in me!”

“Oh I will!” The man yells.

The divine weapon falters in its fire, Maddie tearing the thing off its position at the back of the truck. Five barrels glowing red against the darkness, insane power evaporating the fragile constructs of humanity. Handguards hot to the touch, the young woman nearly dropping the divine artifact as the vehicle passes over a curb.

“We gotta lose'em somehow!” The Bandit realizes as the growl of the approaching engine increases in pitch, the pursuing monster pushing on its quarry.

“Church District!” Jacob yells suddenly through cold pain. “We can get out on foot!!!”

“Adami?!”

“Best chance we got!” The middle aged woman agrees as she leans out, a fully automatic burst of fire from the battle-rifle shrugged off by layered metal and polymer windows. “Gods, that's some armor!”

“Just keep us going Issac!!!” Maddie directs. “Get us on a main road or something!!!”

“I KNOW!”

The passing city fades as electrical lighting slowly drifts to traditional chemical lamps. A religious attire observed as the snapping of gunfire tears past onlookers, a shift from the modern era and a return to an older time in the continuation of violence.

Spires from wind eroded churches reach outward towards a dusty night sky, the faded colors of the five suns watching from above. A universe of fate and destiny slowly woven together by dead divines, the ambush prepared as the getaway vehicle is spotted within a high-magnification scope.

Hidden within the outcropping of carved stone the pair of shadowed forms waits in utter silence. Souls tied by blood, a pair of siblings against a dying world.

One pair of eyes glow as augmentation ignites, the boy motionless as he tracks the criminal collective. Cold words spoken in execution, an emotional state unflinching. “Target open top vehicle, engine block. Distance: three hundred meters, speed: eighty kilometers per hour relative.”

“On target.” The girl replies as she slows her breathing.

A massive anti-material rifle tracks the moving mechanism, a divine barrel shedding a demonic blue across four lines in response to a found target. Reality itself warps around the abyssal black shape, immeasurable power maintained in the application of violence.

The boy tightens the visual range of augmentation, glowing eyes thinning as he focuses towards the form of the Bandit at the rear of the cargo bed.

A memorized face matched with observation, a cold analysis applied. “Do not terminate Madeleine McCormick, the bounty requires her to be alive.”

The girl replies to the sibling in word only, a sight picture kept stable. “Understood.”

A scan executed in preparation, implanted observa augmentation retrieving gathered information for a foot chase to come. Bodies examined from extreme distance, the wounded Enforcer found and remembered in a perfect mind. Weapons cataloged from revolvers to battle rifles, an implementation of arcane construct giving pause to the boy.

The rotary machine gun within the hands of the Bandit returns nothing to the augmented being, a god refusing to submit to the inquiry of humanity.

“It is confirmed that Madeleine McCormick carries a direct copy of a god gun fragment.” The boy notes aloud.

“Is it a complication?” The girl asks the sibling.

“It is not.” The boy responds. “Clear to fire.”

Oh no.

OH NO.
