They hadn't even made it a quarter of the way across the area to the main floor entrance when some of the monsters noticed their little group and turned to engage.  He gave the order and they all charged forward with more intent to shove any enemies away than to hurt or kill them.  The mad dash seemed to be mostly working.  That said it might have been the best plan he could come up with but that didn't mean it was a good plan.

As they charged he saw several of the girls take some hits.  Scar took a few nasty club hits one after another that broke her right arm, Gash also took a few club hits that broke her hind leg, Conk took some magic blasts straight from the front and ended up with burns all over her breasts, Scratches ended up with a hole straight through her left shoulder that was now leaking blood all over her side, Gash got a chunk of her cheek ripped off, and those were only the worst wounds.  Everyone ended up with a variety of bruises and cuts before making it to the main floor entrance.  The only exceptions were the skeleton rat and maybe he himself, of which he wasn't entirely sure if he was injured or not since he couldn't really feel much pain.

Upon making it through, he felt a momentary sense of dread.  They emerged from the trunk of a large tree in the middle of a forest filled with a thin mist.  Maybe the mist was thicker when the dungeon was working and had begun to thin with the collapse but it was still thick enough that it reduced sight.  With the trees added to that there was no way to know which way they needed to go to get out now.

He took a few moments and cleared his thoughts to try and figure out how to proceed.  Most of the monsters trying to get out would have likely already headed out so trying to find a group to follow wouldn't work.  That left only the normal floor residents, the bees, to know where the exit could be.  Unfortunately most bees were about as dumb as the undead.  That means he needed to try and find something like a queen and link to her.  Hopefully he could find one that his link limit could handle.

<We need to try and find some bees.  Keep a lookout for any fighting or signs that there bees nearby.  In the meantime let's go that way.>

He chose a random direction and they all started running again.  For now he told them not to exhaust themselves with sprinting since they didn't need to hurry as badly for the moment.  It was only a few minutes later when they found some goblins trying to bat down a small swarm of bees.  Near where the goblins were fighting was a fallen beehive almost twice the size of a watermelon with a hole in it, with a few goblins sitting around it and licking what seemed to be honey off of their fingers.

He tried to through a link towards the destroyed hive in the hoped that there was a still living queen in it somewhere.  Luck seemed to have not abandoned him completely as the link immediately connected to a queen, but he could feel the feedback in the link letting him know she was badly injured and scared.  He sent a quick feeling of reassurance to her through the link.

<Alright girls, we need to hurry and clear and up the goblins while protecting that hive!>

While the girls not carrying him charged forward he tried to explain to the queen what was happening.  His hope was that even though he hadn't linked to any of the other bees that she would still have some control over them.

<We're coming to help.  Tell your drones not to attack us, please.  Girls, try not to hurt any of the bees.>

It seemed to work as the bees continued attacking the goblins while ignoring the girls.  The girls, in return, mostly ignored the bees and and starting killing the goblins.  Claw and Legs brought him to the broken hive and let him down so they could join the fight as well.  He tried to gently reach into the hole in the hive to pull out the injured queen.

<I'm putting my hands in there for you.  Please climb into my hands if you can so we can try to treat your injuries.>

He actually wasn't sure if he could treat be injuries but he felt it was at least worth looking at and trying.  Soon he felt a confirmation through the link that she was in his hands even though he couldn't feel her physically there, so he tried to be careful and gentle as he pulled his hands back out.  When he looked at the queen he had pulled out he noticed that she seemed fairly small for a monster queen bee at only about 8 cm in size, indicating that she was still fairly young.  She only had one wing and two legs on her left side remaining as far as limbs went.  Luckily she still had her antennae.  Unluckily she had a nasty bleeding hole in her abdomen.

<Scratches!  I need your help treating this poor girl.>

Scratches and Conk had proven the best two of the girls at treating wounds, and even though Conk was actually slightly better only Scratches could produce the webbing for bandages.  She soon arrived and helped wrap up the queen's abdomen carefully to staunch the bleeding.  He could still feel the queen announcing her pain through the link, but there were now tinges of thankfulness and satisfaction mixed in.  He waited for a bit to make sure all the goblins were taken care of before trying to ask if the queen knew how to get out of the dungeon.

It took almost half an hour to talk with the queen, mostly because she could only really understand the general idea and feeling of things.  By the end, though, she understood that they wanted to leave the dungeon and were willing to take her with them.  Scar even offered to try and carry the broken hive with them, which was a bit of a surprise since it was the first time one of the girls had offered something like that without being prompted first.  Since they were going to be carrying the hive with them, he decided to let the queen back into it where she would be safer from attacks.

He had considered briefly letting everyone rest for a moment, but seeing how many injuries everyone had and the state they were in he figured that if they were to starting resting now they might not be able to get back up and continue for a while.  If any more enemies showed up, they wouldn't be able to even fight them off at that point.  Right now while they were still moving and probably had some adrenaline in their system seemed like the best chance to continue pushing forward and hope they could find somewhere much safer once they were out of the dungeon.

Following the general directions the young queen had given them and surrounded by a swarm of bees protecting them they once again started running.  The only change in formation was Scar staying nearer to Claw and Lags who were carrying him while she carried the hive and queen.  They encountered a few more groups on their way, but the drones sacrificed themselves in batches to fight and hold them off after they pushed through each time.  By the time they finally reached the dungeon exit they had only about a third of the swarm of drones left but the rest of the girls had barely received an extra scratch.

They all practically jumped through the entrance and found themselves in the middle of another intense battle.  This battle, though, had almost every type of monster found within the dungeon, including several bosses.  The nearby area seemed to incredibly hilly with the dungeon opening in the rocks of one of the largest hills around, disguised well as a simple cave opening.  Directly ahead and only a few kilometers away was what looked like a town with multiple swarms of dungeon monsters that had already escaped heading towards it.  For some reason there seemed to be very few monsters heading to either the left or right, though.

Not wanting them to get caught up in the fight he quickly made a decision.

<Everyone run around to the other side of this hill!  Hurry!>

Since the monsters seemed to be mostly aiming to either attack the town in the distance or fight each other right here, he assumed that the back side of the hill would have the least enemies to deal with.  As they all rushed to get away from the fight, leaving the last of the bee swarm to cover their escape, he found his quick thinking to be accurate and saw fewer and fewer enemies.

Before they could make it far enough around, though, there was a roar.  Looking back at the massive battle he could see that the goblin boss had finished off his enemies and was now looking at them.  He suddenly had a bad feeling about the look in the large goblin's eyes.  The boss goblin let loose another roar and started chasing after them.  Unfortunately the goblin seemed to be in much better health than pretty much any of his group and was also proving to be less exhausted with the way he was rapidly catching up.

<I'll stop him.>

A sudden message from Gash surprised him.  Before he could contradict her decision she stopped, turned around around, and charged at the goblin boss.  The goblin seemed to be surprised as well as the unexpected attacked allowed her to get a solid hit with one of her bone clubs into his side.  The bone shattered on hit and the retaliatory backhand from the goblin sent her into the rocky hillside.  The rest of them continued to try and circle around to the back of the hill while carrying him.

He couldn't see the fight anymore after only a few seconds but the fact that the large goblin boss was still roaring and not chasing them told him that Gash was doing as she said she would and stopping the chase.  Remembering how injured she was already, he had no illusions about her chances of surviving much less winning the fight.  He could feel a sense of sadness trying to creep into his emotions and mind but pushed it back in order to try and figure out what they needed next to reach safety.

Facing away from the hill he could see what looked like a forest only about a kilometer away, as if the dungeon were perfectly in between the town and the forest.  He couldn't see any monsters heading to the forest from the dungeon so he decided that would be their new destination.  He told everyone and watched behind them as they all ran towards the line of trees.  When they'd only crossed maybe a quarter of the distance he felt his link with Gash disappear followed promptly by another roar.

As they continued to gain distance from the large hill spitting out swarms of monsters he saw the goblin boss carrying Gash's body walk far enough around for them to see each other.  They were still close enough to each other for him to see the large goblin smirk at them.  The goblin roared again and, as if to show off his exploits and strength, threw down Gash's dead body and started raping it while eating her at the same time.

He decided right then and there that he absolutely hated goblins.
