You dont use metal coin yeah? So what did you pay your miner, farmer , or other worker with? How do they trade with each other?
Ration? Are they all slave? Only paid with food clothing and housing?
Artica doesn’t have all the resources in the North. They need sand, horses, and iron, because they don’t have that many mines, and Jon wants to increase their stockpiles to arm the entire Artican army. They don’t use common metal coins, but gold instead. There’s a difference between iron, steel, and gold.
There’s also the matter of monetary power — it’s not something the Freefolk will learn overnight. Jon started trade specifically for that purpose: to establish Artica’s monetary system, where the citizens themselves will own businesses and be able to continue trading outside of Artica.
