Roger Phil.  Salutations, thanks, and heartfelt greetings from one of the many voracious readers on this site!

The one about unlimited power-the arcane path. By the way, I don't know if you noticed but the novel Lucid is not in hiatus anymore

Thanks for that heads-up.  I updated my review and gave him back 4/5 stars.

Good reviews!

Thanks?  Any one in particular caught your attention?  I try to keep them updated if/when I'm still reading the story, or after I finish.

Grandpa Ben died a while back.  He'd be around 90 if he were alive now, so your dad might be a bit young to have met him back when he was active duty.  I agree that most military documentaries are @#$% regarding war.  They definitely aren't dirty or miserable enough; don't portray long periods of stress and inactivity, trying to maintain vigilance, infrequently interrupted by sudden life threatening situations; sudden death beyond the typical soldier's ability to control.

Watching 2016 Midway.  Horribly silly, completely utter Hollywood rah rah stuff.  Except this version has the highest ratings by Annapolis for historical accuracy.clear.png

Wow.  Might have met my dad.  He was a Korean national in the Army of Vietnam.  Made a lot of drops.  clear.png

Was your Step Grandfather in the OSS or SOE?  clear.pngclear.pngclear.png  Those people were...stupid brave.

Quite possibly, like I said, his official records don't match what he disclosed prior to his death.  US Marine Corp. for sure, though I'm guessing that he might have been affiliated with non-military agencies.  Some units of the USMC had wartime affiliations with agencies like the CIA and attacked strategic civilian targets in combat zones.  My grandfather wasn't one of those folks, since his cover job generally didn't do their activity in warzones, possibly SAC (formerly SAD)-SOG?
