The only thing that is a bit weird is the religion, I mean, at some point it's said that they would kill each others for a bit of blue to offer to the gods even if that itself would be heresy. But aside from puntual moments religion suddenly vanishes, maybe is intended dunno but feels weird that it doesn't have more day to day importance even among people that take it so seriously. Like some rituals at some moments or some prays at others, not just puff till plot

It is intentional, And Erf had specifically commented in WB that Emanai had a rather unusual stance on religion. Why it is that way will be explored in the future.
