What you will find in my writing:
Fantasy; adults trying to get through bad situations; shapeshifting and transformation; friendship and loyalty; any flavour of trans, any orientation, consensually kinky, and/or honestly polyamorous characters; clean accurate grammar/spelling (in Canadian English); people figuring out who they are, what matters to them, and where they belong; sex-positivity; cats; 30+ years of writing; non-stereotypical characters; bad guys with reasons to do things.

What you will not find in my writing:
Animal abuse or cruelty (efficient hunting happens); any bigotry/prejudice/sexism/etc as a good or even vaguely acceptable thing; Disney romance; gore, horror, and similarly yucky disturbing things; military stories; cliche sexual "Will they? Won't they?" ad nauseam; grimdark ANYTHING; unfinished stories; unsettling or depressing endings; Save The World quests; fanfiction; abuse masquerading as love or healthy sex; gratuitous sex or violence.

Everyone else has Discord, I was feeling left out! clear.pngMy gamer roommate/best friend and I share this one. Newish, quiet, but you're welcome to drop by! I'm on my laptop most of my waking hours, I think, and I'll be keeping an eye out. https://discord.gg/2HWQwG2GEj

Hi, folks! Still around! But 2022 is still not being kind to my household, and that means high anxiety/depression, and that makes concentration and motivation really difficult. On the grounds that *any* writing is better than nothing, I've been alternating between two fun projects when I can, but they're going slowly. Eventually I'll get there, though! This won't last forever!

Lena · Jun 28, 2022

You're alive! 787504537371410443.png

I was just kinda conserned, I was really thinking about sending a message asking if you were doing okay recently…

Irlina · Jun 28, 2022

Sorry to hear about the extra problems. Hope all goes well for you!

Prysmcat · Author · Jun 29, 2022

@Lena @Irlina Thanks! Honestly, I didn't think anyone was likely to notice or care, since I've been rather quiet for months and hadn't been around long before that. Things will sort themselves out and I'll get over this episode, it'll just take a little time. Even if half a year so far is a frustrating amount of time!

Irlina · Jun 29, 2022

I speak mostly for myself here but, take your time and heal. Your health is more important then our enjoyment, unless it is your paycheck... it is easy enough to find other entertainment elsewhere while we wait. Good luck, we will be paying attention.

If anyone following me was also reading Renegade... those bonus chapters I promised are up. There won't be any more content added to that one until whenever I reach the sequel on my ever-growing to-do list, but I hope the bonus chapters are an interesting glimpse into the future.

Still here! 2022 has so far not been a good year in my household, and that's making it hard to focus. I haven't forgotten finishing Transposition or any other projects! If the one I'm playing with now (when my brain allows) works out, I think you'll all like it! clear.png Just a relatively simple race-the-bad-guys-to-the-treasure power-of-friendship plot, with unconventional heroes, probably running novel-length but moving fast. It's fun and light and should get me back into my groove.

Prysmcat · Author · Mar 4, 2022

I will probably not reply to comments or anything for at least a few days. I just lost my cat - I saved him as a 3-week-old orphan and he was almost at his 14th birthday despite everyone tellling me he wouldn't survive. "It hurts" doesn't begin to cover it. I'll be back, and back to writing, once I can stop crying.

Irlina · Mar 4, 2022

No problem. Take your time to process that. Just know we will be here for you in whatever way we can. Mostly moral support, but that is better then nothing.

Awoodevil · Mar 5, 2022

I'm so sorry for your loss, take all the time you need. clear.pngtake a cookieclear.png

Prysmcat · Author · Mar 8, 2022

@Irlina @Awoodevil Thank you - seriously. Sympathy and moral support and knowing people understand actually does help a lot. Still miss him, always will, but it's time to get back to everything else - especially after weeks of not writing while I was looking after him. Writing's always a good way to process emotions, and I'm still a bit mindblown that there are people who enjoy reading the results.

Prysmcat · Author · Feb 20, 2022

I haven't given up on writing. I've just been busy for the past month putting all time and energy into a very sick 13-year-old cat, and if you can't understand why that's worth it, I feel sorry for you. Since he's improving I'm trying to get back to it, but he's not out of the woods and I'm exhausted on every level, so it's going to be slow going. I can't promise when I'll have anything new, including the next part of Transposition. Sorry!

Prysmcat · Author · Feb 20, 2022

Because Black Wolf ran out (not that anyone was reading it LOL) and it's going to be a while yet before I have anything new to offer, I'm going to start uploading my remaining completed novel. It's another old one, with no trans/same sex in it, which probably means it won't get much attention, but what is there to lose? Well, as long as I can make the content warnings clear enough.

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 25, 2022

Feline health crisis. Writing is on hold until that's resolved. I might be slow on comment responses as well. Sorry!

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 17, 2022

Okay, new rule: if it goes over ~20K words, then even if it's fun and fluffy, it gets its own series. There is no way on earth that the one I'm working on now is going to qualify as "short," and tossing them all into an anthology is getting ridiculous. I can't move Learning Curve and Reverie without losing the comments, but otherwise... yeah. clear.png

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 17, 2022

Besides, if I stop trying to keep it "short" I might stop shelving stories that are getting too long. LOL

Foxxy · Jan 17, 2022

Kek

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 8, 2022

Reverie's all up! Well, except for a bonus chapter that I'm really hoping I'll have done for you tomorrow, barring any interruptions - if you've been reading the story, you know what it's about. clear.png I hope everyone had fun, and thank you for all the awesome comments! I have lots more fluffy shorts to write - they're so fun and you guys like them so much, it's harder to focus on the bigger "serious" projects. clear.png

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 7, 2022

Reverie is up! Watch for a new chapter every hour all day! (14 in all.) It's in the "Bondage and Other Tales" collection, of course. Have fun!

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 7, 2022

Reverie's ready to go tomorrow! I still haven't decided on the best schedule for this kind of thing - I'm not making you wait two weeks to get the full 14 chapters, so I guess... watch for a chapter every hour or two? clear.png I'll be posting the bonus chapter a little later, I just don't want to delay the main story while I finish it.

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 5, 2022

In the same world as Learning Curve, an all-witch dev team has created a groundbreaking new device called Reverie that offers a seriously-enhanced interactive version of augmented reality. When they ask a couple of non-witch friends to beta-test it for them, what could possibly go wrong? (Also, there's a bonus chapter I cut out but think you might enjoy... it might include someone familiar. clear.png )

Aearil · Jan 5, 2022

That sounds really interesting! *_*

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 5, 2022

@Aearil Well, I had a lot of fun writing it! clear.png

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 5, 2022

Whew! Finally finished the first draft of my new short! (I really hate this time of year.) Currently 32K, but it'll be a bit longer by the time I finish smoothing and editing and adding some details I worked out later. I'll get the editing done ASAP and get it posted. Fingers crossed that there are no more interruptions!

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 16, 2021

Okay, fingers crossed that this new "short" (maybe) is going to work out the way I hope - it's off to a really good start, at least! Same world as Learning Curve, but different characters and a different kind of witch. clear.png

Skadia · Dec 16, 2021

I really liked learning curve, can't wait to see what you're going to come up with!

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I never know how to feel when a story gets away from me and gets long and complex. It's fun to watch them come to life, but on the other hand, it's murder on my ability to actually finish and share anything. So, um... it happened again? I think I see why I have an enormous list of projects to complete. I guess that "short" joins 2 others on the waiting list and I'll try again for one that will STAY some version of "short".

Aearil · Dec 13, 2021

oh noes ^^

Is it one we know about? ^^

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I mentioned it on Discord but didn't actually talk about it here - a sort-of medieval situation where a long-standing property dispute between 3 families has led to a royal decree of 3 marriages to turn them all into one family, but shenanigans ensue as far as who wants to marry whom (and yes, someone gets turned into a girl LOL). As usual, the characters have largely ignored my intentions and done their own thing. It's headed for short-novel length.

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I was hoping to have a new short done to post by now, despite typically writing more slowly over the winter. Apparently it won't be that one! I can force it short and it won't be as good, or I can keep working on it despite Transposition needing more chapters soon, or I can pause it and do something I hope will be quicker now.
