What you will find in my writing:
Fantasy; adults trying to get through bad situations; shapeshifting and transformation; friendship and loyalty; any flavour of trans, any orientation, consensually kinky, and/or honestly polyamorous characters; clean accurate grammar/spelling (in Canadian English); people figuring out who they are, what matters to them, and where they belong; sex-positivity; cats; 30+ years of writing; non-stereotypical characters; bad guys with reasons to do things.

What you will not find in my writing:
Animal abuse or cruelty (efficient hunting happens); any bigotry/prejudice/sexism/etc as a good or even vaguely acceptable thing; Disney romance; gore, horror, and similarly yucky disturbing things; military stories; cliche sexual "Will they? Won't they?" ad nauseam; grimdark ANYTHING; abandoned stories; unsettling or depressing endings; Save The World quests; fanfiction; abuse masquerading as love or healthy sex; gratuitous sex or violence.

In the same world as Learning Curve, an all-witch dev team has created a groundbreaking new device called Reverie that offers a seriously-enhanced interactive version of augmented reality. When they ask a couple of non-witch friends to beta-test it for them, what could possibly go wrong? (Also, there's a bonus chapter I cut out but think you might enjoy... it might include someone familiar. clear.png )

Aearil · Jan 5, 2022

That sounds really interesting! *_*

Prysmcat · Author · Jan 5, 2022

@Aearil Well, I had a lot of fun writing it! clear.png

Whew! Finally finished the first draft of my new short! (I really hate this time of year.) Currently 32K, but it'll be a bit longer by the time I finish smoothing and editing and adding some details I worked out later. I'll get the editing done ASAP and get it posted. Fingers crossed that there are no more interruptions!

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 16, 2021

Okay, fingers crossed that this new "short" (maybe) is going to work out the way I hope - it's off to a really good start, at least! Same world as Learning Curve, but different characters and a different kind of witch. clear.png

Skadia · Dec 16, 2021

I really liked learning curve, can't wait to see what you're going to come up with!

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I never know how to feel when a story gets away from me and gets long and complex. It's fun to watch them come to life, but on the other hand, it's murder on my ability to actually finish and share anything. So, um... it happened again? I think I see why I have an enormous list of projects to complete. I guess that "short" joins 2 others on the waiting list and I'll try again for one that will STAY some version of "short".

Aearil · Dec 13, 2021

oh noes ^^

Is it one we know about? ^^

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I mentioned it on Discord but didn't actually talk about it here - a sort-of medieval situation where a long-standing property dispute between 3 families has led to a royal decree of 3 marriages to turn them all into one family, but shenanigans ensue as far as who wants to marry whom (and yes, someone gets turned into a girl LOL). As usual, the characters have largely ignored my intentions and done their own thing. It's headed for short-novel length.

Prysmcat · Author · Dec 13, 2021

I was hoping to have a new short done to post by now, despite typically writing more slowly over the winter. Apparently it won't be that one! I can force it short and it won't be as good, or I can keep working on it despite Transposition needing more chapters soon, or I can pause it and do something I hope will be quicker now.

Life got weird at some point, when the novel that I originally considered my "safe" one is the one that feels like taking a risk. clear.png "Black Wolf" is up! I know a lot of my usual readers probably won't find it all that appealling, since it's quite different. If response is really low, I'll consider starting the other complete one and alternating, or something. clear.png Meanwhile, new SH-exclusives coming!

Prysmcat · Author · Nov 22, 2021

Since Moonblood is finished (for now), I'm going to start posting another complete novel daily, just because I can while I'm writing new material. No trans characters, sorry - this one's the first I ever finished, and I was definitely not comfortable with that yet! Teenaged male werewolf trying to figure out where he's from... simple, but I still like my version of it. :-) Watch for it to be approved!

I'm feeling a bit silly, and a little bad about not getting something spooky-fun ready to post for my favourite holiday of the year, so I thought I'd do this: here's a sneak preview of the first chapter (post-prologue) of the major project I'm working on right now. I'm estimating about 200K words to finish it, although with potential for a sequel.

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 30, 2021

How fast I get the final version done will depend heavily on my mental health and my cat's health issues, but writing's always been one of my best ways of keeping myself grounded. If you check it out, tell me, eh? 😄

Aearil · Oct 30, 2021

Sometimes I forgot your stories happen in Canada, and then you bring me back there with delicious things like "maple cream sandwich cookies" x)

I just finished reading the preview, and I really like the concept ^^

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 30, 2021

Yummy cookies, but OMG rich and sweet. LOL

Thanks. clear.png I'm optimistic about getting it done reasonably soon, since I have a substantial amount to work with that I've been working on intermittently for years. :-D But then, I drastically misjudged the timing on the second Transposition arc, so what do I know? Glad that bit sounds good, at least!

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 29, 2021

I was really hoping to have a Hallowe'en short story done, but life's been a bit out of control lately and it didn't happen. It doesn't mean I'm not writing, though! I took a look at my list of projects, which is terrifyingly long - but you guys are giving me a lot of motivation to make a serious effort to finish more of them. <3 I know what I'll be doing all winter!

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 29, 2021

You'll likely get a fun weird haunted-house one at a non-Hallowe'en time, however, because I think it has a lot of potential but I doubt it will take me until next October to finish it!

Dnajester · Oct 20, 2021

Moonblood sounds like a euphemism for menstruation

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 14, 2021

Hey, gang! Sorry about the unexpectedly long delay, between those fun shorts and that annoying real life, but I'm going to start posting the next section (arc? volume?) of Transposition - Friday! (Okay, Friday where I am, near Toronto Canada... so, like, about 9.5 hours after this note?) New chapters 3 days a week, on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, to work around my Moonblood schedule on Royal Road.

Two chapters of "Learning Curve" are up, and the third one will be soon - they'll be posted every 4 hours. If you'd rather wait and binge the whole thing, watch for the epilogue, slightly over 48 hours from now. Lots of transformations, deep friendship, some romance, a bit of sillness. clear.png I had fun, hope you will too!

Prysmcat · Author · Oct 3, 2021

Not-so-short story "Learning Curve" is done! clear.pngIt just needs a final read-through to smooth it out. It really did get away from me, at 36K words in 14 chapters and an epilogue, so I think I'll release it over a few days instead of all at once, but I will be putting it with the others in "Bondage and Other Tales."

Aearil · Oct 3, 2021

can't wait clear.png

Prysmcat · Author · Sep 29, 2021

I think this story got away from me just a teeny bit. clear.png It's looking like it'll be closer to 40K than 20K words, and it's taking a little longer than I expected. This is pretty much normal -  no wonder I specialize in very long stories! clear.png Oh well, still genderbendy TF fun!

Prysmcat · Author · Sep 25, 2021

My roommate's laughing at me because I'm trying to figure out, for a story, what normal people actually do with their free time if they aren't spending it writing and reading/researching obsessively. I honestly don't know - outside of the odd computer game and an occasional streamed movie, it's a mystery. LOL

Foxxy · Sep 25, 2021

What ever their hobby is....

RyreGruel · Sep 25, 2021

It depends I read lots of webnovels and play lots of video games, but my studious friend studies in his free time, and the other is messing around with coding sorting systems for fun…

Prysmcat · Author · Sep 23, 2021

New short is underway... a pair of lifelong best friends, and a series of rather silly, over-the-top, self-indulgent, out-of-control transformations. Watch for "Learning Curve" next week! (I haven't forgotten longer projects, I promise, I'm just having so much fun with these!)
