MJ Maddox is a self-publishing author who has written as a hobby since early childhood. He is an avid fan of both fantasy and science fiction and began writing with the goal publish his first book while he was working as a high school substitute teacher. He grew up and currently lives in Folsom, California, and grew up with a visual impairment called Acromatopsia. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with the goal of teaching U.S. History while also writing several books.
