Hello?
Knock, knock. Who's there?
If I knew the answer, would I ask?
...but apparently, that question is meaningless; for I won't open my door to strangers.
Why didn't I check for itself?
It's not like I could identify them from the way they knock; not even a single voice was uttered.
Regardless, how am I supposed to know if it's not elaborate ventriloquism? Or a voice recording that's more convincing than the original!
Driven by curiosity, I peered at the nearest window, unveiling the curtains...
A salesman stood right before the window as if knowing I'd stare through this exact point. He gazed squarely at me; radiating such air of confidence to the point of creepy.
"Hello there sonny, are you interested in..."
"Go away."
"I haven't offered my product--"
"Screw off!"
I scoffed whilst turning my face away; not paying him a single glance.
Closing the veil back, I've heard footsteps getting further away--followed by an increased pace of running towards the door!
"What the fuck?"
Along with a loud impact, there were unceasing sounds of blades unsheathed, followed by piercing noises and bloodcurdling screams.
The moment I opened the door, this salesman had turned into a porcupine; countless blades pop from his back. The rustic scent of fresh blood filled my nostrils as it's dripping.
The salesman's body vanished into thin air, along with the blood--leaving behind trails of golden dust.
A message box appeared before me.
[Gained 10 DP!]
Guess I wouldn't be hungry tonight.
I really want some more context here, what even is Dp?
DP = Dungeon Points
in a lot of dungeon master novels it's like their main currency to build their dungeon.
but without context, it can be any kind of currency.
