Chapter 39: Devil’s Pranks

Lucas had already used his x-ray vision on the ocean earlier to find the body so all he needed to do was show it to the others.

He figured using Mera’s water magic since he rarely got the chance to use her ability and also made a bit of fun for Lucifer with the Moses thing.

On this Earth, the God in the Bible is real. Naturally, the angels and the demons too.

Lucifer is, well, the Devil of course.

The ruler of Hell. Or rather, the warden of Hell.

Hell is a place where damned souls enter. From the TV series that Lucas had watched in the past, it seems each prisoner in Hell gets tortured by relieving their most painful memories or regrets over and over for all eternity.

Apparently, Lucifer got bored in Hell and decided to take a vacation here in Los Angeles.

Eventually, he met Detective Decker and started to assist her in helping with cases and solving murders.

At least, that’s how the show is.

Lucas doesn’t know how much is the same here though but it should be quite similar.

As the ocean split in half, the corpse at the bottom of the ocean was shown to everyone.

Lucas turned around and saw everyone’s jaws on the ground.

He looked towards the forensics girl and called out.

“Should I move the body here or do you want to go there and uhh, do your thing?”

“W-what? Ah! J-just move it here please…”

“As you wish.”

Lucas stretched his hand and a white hard light shot out and took the corpse. Once the corpse was taken, he pulled it over and settled it on the beach.

Everyone was still dumbstruck.

Chloe’s mouth was wide open as she stared at Lucas then looked at everyone else who was watching.

She quickly walked over to Lucas and asked in a whispering tone.

“Are you also...an Angel!? Actually, nevermind. Is it really okay for you to show this to everyone else!?”

“Hm? Oh. One sec.”

Lucas snapped his fingers and suddenly, everyone else blinked and looked confused.

Ella scratched her head and saw the other corpse on the beach.

“Oh! They found the other body already! Give me a moment, I’ll examine the other one as well and head back to the lab.”

Lucifer frowned when he saw Ella act as if she didn’t see what just happened.

He thought of something and looked towards Lucas.

“Did you just...mind wipe everyone?”

“Yeah.”

“...Haha! That’s cool.”

Chloe was a bit speechless as she looked at Lucifer and Lucas.

“That is NOT cool! Not at all!”

She looked around hastily and whispered to the both of them.

“Can we talk somewhere private?”

Lucas smiled and grabbed Lucifer and Chloe on the shoulder.

Lucifer seemed to know what he was about to do and was just about to stop him. Alas, he was too slow.

“O-oh no you do-...-n’t…”

By the time he finished his sentence, Lucas had already sped the two of them to a rooftop somewhere.

Chloe was shocked by the sudden change in surrounding and asked.

“What...the HELL just happened!?”

“Funny you should ask, Detective. I asked the exact same thing earlier!”

Chloe tried her best to calm down as she pointed at Lucas.

“So you...you’re really an Angel? Like Amenadiel?”

“No, he’s no-”

Lucifer was about to speak when Lucas laughed and white wings made of hard light appeared behind his back.

He floated a bit and showed some light effects behind his back.

“I always knew wings would look good on me.”

Then, he waved his hands and created hard light stairs that stretched to the sky.

He presented his hand forward as if an angel beckoning on her.

“Chloe Decker. Your time has come…”

“...”

Chloe’s eyes rolled up and she fainted on the spot, making Lucas dumbfounded.

“E-err...it was just a joke…”

As for Lucifer, he looked at the stairway to Heaven and started laughing while taking pictures with his smartphone.

“Ahahahahaha! Hold that pose, Lucas! Wait till Amenadiel sees this!”

He saw Chloe had fainted to the ground and didn’t mind it much.

“Sorry, can you mind wipe her and do it all over again? I want to catch it on video when she faints!”

“...”

After a while, Chloe woke up and Lucas apologized for the joke and explained who he was.

Chloe glared at Lucas for a while before sighing. She still can’t get over the idea of multiple worlds. Heck, she can barely understand this whole God, Angels, and Devils thing.

“So...why are you here?”

“I really just came here to hang out. I’ve been having some...problems in my world so I just came here to take a break really.”

“What else can you do?”

Lucifer asks, seemingly up to something devilish.

Lucas thought for a moment and smiled. Suddenly, his whole body changed and turned into another Lucifer.

“I can do this.”

“Well hello gorgeous!”

Lucifer laughed and circled around Lucas who now looked like him.

Chloe’s head started to hurt even more when she saw there were two Lucifers.

The two Lucifers looked at Chloe at the same time and asked.

““What’s wrong, Detective? Hah! Jinx! Jinx again! Jinx! Jinx! Jinx! Jinx!””

“Enough!”

Chloe held her forehead and massaged it.

“Can you please...change back? I’m afraid I really can’t handle more of this...nonsense.”

“If you say so, Detective.”

Lucas laughed and reverted back.

Chloe sighed.

“Whatever. I have a case to solve so...Lucifer, just take him out for a walk or something?”

“With pleasure! The case was boring me anyway.”

“...”

Lucas smiled wryly and looked back at Chloe who gave Lucifer a side-eye at his comment.

“I’m really sorry if I disturbed you in your work. Let me send you back. Do you want via flying or running.”

“Neither, please.”

“Teleport it is!”

“Wait! I didn’t sa-”

“Azarath Metrion Zinthos!”

Lucas chanted and Chloe dissolved into the light and reappeared back in a spot on the beach where no one was looking.

Lucifer’s mouth opened in shock.

“You can teleport too!? Oh, this is going to be fun!”

“What do you mean?”

“What else? We’re going to prank the others of course!”

“...”

Lucas scratched his head.

Is this really going to be okay?

...Oh well, I came here to relax and have fun anyway. Might as well.

“Let’s go find Dan. Or as I like to call him. Detective Douche!”

Lucifer smiled like a devil…

The two of them went to an alley near the LAPD department where Lucifer tells Lucas his plans.

After a while, Lucifer showed up in the department and greeted Dan who was sitting on his desk while looking through some files.

“Good morning, Daniel.”

“...Good morning...Lucifer?”

Dan frowned and stared at Lucifer who passed by him and disappeared in the corner.

He was weirded out that Lucifer, out of all people, would suddenly greet him.

Dan sighed and shook his head as he decided not to care about it and went back to work.

Just as he was reading on some case files, he heard another familiar voice pass him.

“Good morning, Daniel.”

“Good morning...Lucifer?”

Dan answered almost immediately when he remembered who the voice belonged to.

He turned his head and saw Lucifer just turning on a corner and frowned.

Weird. Is this deja vu?

Then, just as he was about to look back on the files on his hands, another voice greeted him.

“Good morning, Daniel.”

“Lucifer? Didn’t you just-”

“Just what?”

Lucifer shook his head and left.

This time, before he could disappear on the corner, Dan heard another voice.

“Detective Douche, what’s wrong? Did you see a ghost?”

“Wha-!? Okay. What’s going on here!?”

Dan was freaked out when Lucifer showed up again behind him.

Angry at the thought that Lucifer’s pranking him again, he ran to the corner where the other Lucifers had disappeared to and only saw a dead end.

Suddenly, he felt a hand touch his shoulder.

He quickly turned around and saw...his own face!

“Hey, pal. What’s wrong?”

“...”

“Ah? He fainted?”

‘Dan’ scratched his head and morphed into another person. Lucas.

Lucifer arrived beside him and laughed while looking at Dan who fainted.

“Just leave him in the interrogation room. Come on! Onto the next target!”

After tossing Dan to the interrogation room, Lucifer led Lucas to a psychiatrist's office.

On the way, Lucifer had told Lucas what to do.

When Lucas heard about his plan, he was a bit speechless.

I feel like I’m going to Hell for this…

Before Lucas could refuse, Lucifer had already opened the door and entered the office.

“Ah! Doctor! You're here.”

“Lucifer. Is there something wrong?”

“Doctor, there’s someone I want you to meet.”

“Who?”

“Hello, Doctor. I’m Lucifer’s father.”

“...”

Lucas entered the room looking holy as he made some light special effects glow behind him.

Lucas had to say those words since Lucifer can’t lie.

He smiled at the doctor warmly.

“I hope you don’t mind the intrusion.”

“Aa...ah! P-please come in! I don’t mind at all!”

"Heh! That's what she said."

"Lucifer. Behave."

Lucas smiled and walked inside as Lucifer pulled him to the couch to sit down.

As they did, Lucas controlled the door to close.

The doctor was a bit shocked to see the door close on its own but remembered who the person in front of her was, it seemed to make sense.

Lucifer’s father...it means he’s...God...right!? THE...GOD!?

She was still shocked silly at the thought of it.

OH MY...GOD...IS IN MY OFFICE!!!

Lucifer smiled and sat beside Lucas.

“This is Doctor Linda. She’s been helping me out a lot.”

“O-oh no! I’m just...it’s really my pleasure to help Lucifer!”

Linda nodded hurriedly while trying to remain calm.

But knowing who the person in front of her was, how can she remain calm!?

Suddenly, she felt like she’s not being a good host.

“H-how about some tea? Do you want tea? Wait, does God even drink tea? How about coffee? Soda? Water?”

Lucas chuckled while seeing Linda panic.

“Yes, I drink tea. Thank you.”

Linda quickly prepared some tea and brought it over to the table but due to her nervousness, she tripped and tossed the tea instead.

“No!”

Linda panicked but Lucas simply raised his hand.

The teacup and the splashed tea paused in mid-air.

Seeing such a sight, Linda was definitely sure now that this is God!

Lucifer looked at Lucas and winked.

Nicely done!

Lucas could only continue to act it out and waved his hand. The tea returned to the cup and floated in front of him as he took a sip.

“Your tea is very delicious. Thank you.”

“N-no need to thank me! As long as you like it!”

Lucas used his mental abilities in order to calm her down.

“It’s alright. Just sit and calm down. You don’t need to mind my identity.”

“T-thank you…”

Lucas only wanted to calm her down so she doesn’t faint like Chloe or Dan. Sadly, this seemed to have caused more misunderstandings for Linda as she misunderstood the warm feeling of calmness in her heart as the natural power of God.

She sat down as she was told and looked over at Lucas.

Lucas smiled at her warmly.

Then…

She fainted.

“Huh? Why do they keep fainting?”

Lucifer was confused as well. But since Linda had fainted, he decided to move onto the next person.

Lucas sighed.

“How many more are there?”

“Just a few more. Come on! Let’s meet Maze.”

After that, Lucifer took Lucas to prank or make fun of other people.

They met a hot demoness called Mazikeen. Lucifer said that he found a mortal who is stronger than her.

Maze didn’t believe it so she and Lucas din an arm wrestling.

With Lucas’ strength of combined heroes, even against a demon, he was still stronger.

The result was Maze losing completely.

When Maze suggested fighting, she lunged at Lucas but he just phased through her then knocked her down.

After that...Lucas had to pull Lucifer out with him since Maze started to suggest they continue in bed.

Then, they visited Lucifer’s brother. Amenadiel.

Lucifer asked Lucas to pretend to be his twin brother, Michael, and act like the two of them got along.

Apparently, Lucifer and the real Michael are like fire and ice. Not getting along at all.

Seeing Lucifer and ‘Michael’ get along well, Amenadiel was completely dumbfounded.

Lucas had thought about gaining the powers of Amenadiel and Lucifer by synching their characters. However, after thinking about it for a while, he decided against it.

From what he knows, their powers self-actualize. Meaning, they can be invulnerable one moment then vulnerable the next moment. Lucas also has no use of Lucifer’s ‘desire’ thing and Amenadiel’s time powers are mostly about slowing down or stopping it...which he also doesn’t fully control at the moment.

If Lucas had synched with their powers, and they lost those powers, he would also lose it as well.

Instead of wasting a slot on powers he can’t fully rely on, it was best to save it on other powers.

Besides, he still hasn’t even had a slot open at the moment. He can just return here if he has any extra slots in the future.

Well, it would be a different story if he can meet God.

Heck, can I even sync God’s character?

Lucifer then took Lucas along here and there, pranking a lot of people and mind-wiping them sometimes.

When they went back to the beach, Lucas morphed into an image that looked like Jesus and walked on water. He approached a fishing boat and asked them to throw their nets on the other side of the boat.

Of course, they didn’t catch anything since he can’t control fishes as well as Arthur. But Lucifer and Lucas had a good laugh at that.

When the day was about to end, they checked up on Chloe about the case earlier.

As it turned out, the two victims were a part of a group of thieves that had recently robbed a bank. They had an argument and started to shoot each other.

Supposedly, there are three people involved in that group so they are still looking for the last person.
