The massive speakers roared like beasts, unleashing endless sound waves. The deep bass throbbed with the force of a heartbeat, resonating powerfully.

Each beat seemed to stir an invisible ripple in the center of the dance floor.

Amid the noise and chaos, a group of three strode down the corridor with composed expressions, heading toward a private room.

At the front walked a middle-aged man with streaks of gray in his hair. His short, neat hairstyle reflected a demeanor shaped by experience and pragmatism.

Behind him were two bodyguards with close-cropped hair and robust builds, their broad shoulders and solid frames resembling walking fortresses.

Before long, the two bodyguards stopped at the room’s door.

The middle-aged man pushed the door open and stepped inside without hesitation.

As soon as the soundproof door clicked shut, his gaze fell on the overturned table and the individuals sprawled or crouched in the corners. He immediately sensed something was wrong.

He had walked into a trap.

Just as he opened his mouth to call for the men outside, a cold sensation on his neck froze him in place.

Standing by the door, Zoe had been waiting. Her hand extended, pressing a sharp fingernail against the man’s neck.

The pointed nail pressed just enough to trace a shallow cut on the rough skin.

The sting kept the man motionless.

“You’re the second boss, aren’t you?”

Zoe’s tone was calm as she used her right hand to push up the man’s slack jaw. Her words were unhurried, but her swift, decisive actions demanded careful responses.

“Miss, I’m—”

The second boss started to say something to defuse the tension, wary of provoking this lone troublemaker into action. But his words cut off as the pain at his neck intensified. He quickly corrected himself, “Yes, I’m the second boss of Rameses Real Estate Co., Ltd!”

Feeling the pressure ease slightly, he exhaled in relief.

He didn’t care why this woman’s nails were so sharp; he only knew that now wasn’t the time for clever lies. The best strategy was to answer questions accurately.

“So, this is how you handle storage services for the gray market?”

Zoe removed her hand and wiped the faint blood from her nail on the man’s clothing.

The second boss didn’t dare call for his bodyguards.

He wasn’t a fighter anymore. Since Rameses Real Estate began going legitimate, he’d left those violent days behind. His old brawling skills were rusty, and his body wasn’t up to the task.

This intruder could likely overpower him before help arrived, leaving him seriously hurt or worse.

Recognizing the situation, he stayed quiet, focusing on Zoe’s question.

“Storage services, huh…”

“Yes, that started under my management. I thought Rameses’s success in real estate meant we could move on from the old ways completely.”

“Taking over the gray market storage business seemed like a strategic move—it brought diverse opportunities.”

The second boss now understood why this woman was here.

Despite carefully cleaning out the least-used storage areas first, he’d still attracted a determined adversary.

He’d believed the law would protect him.

Even if those gray market players noticed the double-cross, they couldn’t retaliate beyond petty harassment like blocking doors or vandalism. Rameses Real Estate had mastered those tactics and wasn’t easily intimidated.

But now he realized he’d underestimated someone.

Someone willing to storm in alone, like a scene from an action film.

“Where are the items? Show me.”

Zoe ignored the backstory, cutting straight to the point. She motioned for the second boss to lead the way.

The second boss’s eyes flickered with a glint of hope.

An opportunity! This fool was letting him open the door—giving him a chance to summon his men outside.

He obediently opened the door and prepared to call the bodyguards in.

But the moment the door opened, Zoe struck.

With blinding speed, she grabbed both bodyguards by their necks and dragged them into the room as if lifting bags of groceries.

With a quick motion, she knocked their heads together.

The two guards crumpled to the ground, unconscious, each sporting a fresh bump on the head.

The room fell silent, save for the dull thuds as the guards hit the floor.

In the corner, a man tied up and smoking a cigar observed the scene without surprise. He didn’t even flinch.

A woman, unbound but sitting passively, glanced up briefly before losing interest and looking away again.

Only the second boss’s expression betrayed his shock.

From a moment of smug satisfaction to complete confusion, the second-in-command clearly couldn’t process what had just happened.

Huh?

No way?

What just happened?

The second-in-command remained silent for a long while, trying to make sense of the situation.

Two massive men, as muscular as towers, had been casually handled by the woman in front of them, as easily as if she were folding clothes. They hadn’t even had time to draw their weapons from their waists before they were taken out.

It happened in an instant.

Though there had been an element of surprise, based on how easily the woman toyed with the two big guys, the outcome would have been the same even in a direct fight.

The sheer shock of the scene caused the second-in-command to involuntarily swallow hard.

He had never seen anything like this in his life.

This wasn’t some naive rookie; it was a ridiculously powerful streetbrawler!

The kind of person who, like in the movies, could dominate a whole gang, cutting through from east to west and south to north.

Once he realized this, the second-in-command wisely closed his mouth and sat up straight, obediently awaiting Zoe’s next instructions.

Admit your mistake!

Stand tall when you’re being punished!

He now fully understood these principles.

At the very least, on the surface, he couldn’t afford to show any signs of defiance.

As a seasoned veteran, he knew when it was time to submit.

After completing her task, Zoe glanced at the woman in the corner and said, “The usual. Tie them up, then stay in the corner and don’t move.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the woman quickly began dragging the two bodyguards on the floor, removing their clothes to use as ropes to bind them.

Although Zoe had not harmed her, she was clearly afraid of moving too slowly.

Zoe nodded in approval and turned to signal the second-in-command to lead the way.

...

The Mercedes slowly moved through the night.

The second-in-command, bound in the passenger seat, could only talk, giving directions.

Meanwhile, Zoe drove, skillfully avoiding the cameras, heading toward the location the second-in-command had provided.

After passing through a large part of the city, the car entered a slightly more secluded area.

Though described as remote, it wasn’t really that far from the main city; it was just that the area had exceptionally lush greenery.

Tall trees lined the roads, their canopies interlacing above, forming a thick green dome that shut out the noise and chaos of the outside world.

A gentle breeze blew, rustling the leaves.

As the car moved forward, a residential area of villas appeared ahead.

Thanks to the car, Zoe passed smoothly through the villa district’s security.

When they stopped in front of the villa the second-in-command had mentioned, Zoe’s eyes gleamed.

Her heightened senses had already covered the entire villa. Her spiritual energy easily passed through walls and floors.

She could clearly see into the basement, where various items were neatly arranged, each labeled with a number.

The numbering likely corresponded to storage units in a warehouse.

She quickly located the small box marked B47.

Inside were various electronic devices, most likely the belongings of Benny.

Seeing this, Zoe nodded in satisfaction.

Though it hadn’t taken much effort, the night was finally coming to an end.

Lost in thought, Zoe glanced at the second-in-command beside her.

Sensing the hidden murderous intent within him, Zoe understood that the second-in-command was likely already planning how to dismember her later.

Compared to the cigar-smoking man who had completely surrendered without any ulterior motives, this second-in-command was clearly a different case.

On the surface, he appeared to have learned the importance of admitting mistakes and standing tall when punished, but deep down, he was already plotting his revenge.

Taking this into account, and knowing that the second-in-command was no longer of any use and had no further value, Zoe decided to act.

She flashed a warm smile at him.

Her smile reached her lips but didn’t touch her eyes, which remained cold, leaving subtle lines at the corners like the glint of a blade slicing through the air.

The smile was like a poisoned dagger, coated in a layer of sweetness, but razor-sharp. Once it struck, it would seal the victim’s fate.

The second-in-command couldn’t help but shrink back, unnerved, though he was unsure why.

Clearly, he hadn’t realized that someone could sense his emotions, yet he continued to force a friendly expression, which sharply contrasted with his true thoughts.

Faintly, the second-in-command recalled the time he had been chased by a crazed enemy from a rival gang. The enemy’s face had held a similar… smile?

Before he could think further, he noticed something strange. The woman’s eyes seemed to glow faintly with a red light.

The air around them also seemed to grow subtly warmer.
