They all got out of the building and went to the cinema hall while laughing and yelling in excitement. The cinema had a history of running lighthearted comedy movies. I guess in this death game, a bit of laughter was everything that was needed from a movie thought Bold.

After they laughed and cried happily in front of the screen. They headed out for a huge diner.  And this carefree lifestyle continued for the next few days. For people like Thompson and Mikhail it was not a problem. The battles they encountered were now all over and they decided to fancy what little time they had for playing and partying around.

But for Bold and Emma, it was a different story. Bold held himself and fidgeted during the parties for the first two days. He even asked to stay home for training on the third day. And in the fourth and fifth day he officially started his sword handling training by sparring with Thompson.

While Emma was not assertive about her feelings, but it was clear that she wasn’t enjoying the parties as much as the others were.

If there was anyone grumpier than them it was Amanda. She showed no concern for the game centers, the cinema, the dance parties. She even occasionally pointed out Mikhail and Thompson for being stupid and childish.

On the morning of the sixth day of peace and fun, the group of friends headed outside into the garden.

“Woohoo”

Mikhail backflipped into the pool and the water splashed and glittered like diamonds in the sun. Gabi and her brother jumped in as well. They splashed water at each other.

“Stop it” yelled Gabi but she couldn’t hide the smile on her face.

But Diego wasn’t going to stop. He had become awfully mischievous and wanted to toy with her sister like a small child.

Soon Amanda came out of the house and headed for the gate with a cold and bitter look on her face.

“Hey, wanna join us?” yelled Mikhail from behind her.

She looked at them with disgust and groaned.

“How can you all be so careless? The wave is closing in. I’m heading out. Might find some info or some deal” said Amanda.

“Alright, but you gotta relax sometime, you know? You are always so serious. You’re gonna have wrinkles on your face in no time” said Mikhail.

Amanda looked at him coldly, opened the gate and headed out.

“Grumpy fellow, isn’t she?” said Diego.

“As if you’re not grumpy yourself?” laughed Mikhail.

“Brother is not so grumpy. He’s just miserly. He knows he’s damn adorable when he smiles. You see!”

Gabi and pulled the skin on his face to form a smile on him. But it came out as more like a devilish grin than anything.

“Guess so” said Mikhail with sarcasm.

“Ahh, swimming, ay? Get ready for Thompson Watson’s serpent dive”.

When the three of them looked to the source of the sound, they all realized it was too late. Thompson jumped into the pool with a twirl and splashed a wave of water at their faces. When he emerged from the depths of the pool triumphantly, they all laughed. After freely swimming and enjoying the cool water, Mikhail spoke:

“Hey, Thompson. Where is Bold and Emma? They are missing all the fun”

“Bold is at the back of the house, in the woody garden. Still trying to master that new spell of his. Emma said she was going to pay him a visit”

“I see. It’s taking a while. Emma and Amanda don’t seem to bother too much about learning their spells right away. But Bold…” said Mikhail.

“Yeah. He’s been the hardest worker yet. It still doesn’t seem to be working” said Gabi with concern.

“It’s about working smart. Not working hard. Bold must be missing it cause of something. Maybe I should talk to him” mumbled Mikhail.

“Oh yeah. You alone managed to perfect your spells just in, what, a single day? That’s pretty fast aye. When I learned ‘serpent’s strike’ it took me three days and that was my high record because ‘King’s ignition’ took me a full week” said Thompson.

“Yeah. I guess I got the hang of it. Tho, if you know the trick it’s not hard” said Mikhail.

The leaves of the trees rustled in the wind. Tired and demotivated, Bold looked at the deep blue sky above. There wasn’t a single cloud in it. So peaceful and so infinite. He gritted his teeth and yelled:
“Come on”

Jumping back to his feet, he quickly typed in the codes for the spell and imagined a wave of wind rising from the ground towards the sky and snapped his fingers. But only a small fart like sound came out.

“Damn it”.

He kicked the earth and punched the tree.

Fuck Fuck Fuck. What the fuck is wrong with me? Why can’t I just use this measly spell correctly? The instructions stated nothing about the spell being hard to master. Yet here I am on my fifth day. Ugh, this is bullshit.

“Bold”

He looked around to see Emma’s melancholic face.
