A brief silence, then I hear acoustic guitar music. What I see is names scrolling along my vision. This can only mean one thing.

“I have died, huh. Though, all those isekai stories didn’t do justice. I do not think any of them have said about having credits at the end of your life.”

Looking at the top right, I see a piece of text saying ‘[SKIP >]’.

“I guess it is better if I do, or I will be here a while. Does time even exist here?”

The music changes from guitar to a more aethereal one, and I enter what looks like a character creator, but not before I’m assaulted by a loud whining sound, a notification. The contents of which saying I unlocked the next world, Etherysia. A world that is in its ‘creation phase’, where gods and beings of that level still roam the world and is filled to the brim with magic or what they call it ether. It has the nerve to call it Difficulty: Phantasmal. Our little blue ball is apparently only Difficulty: Extra. As much as I would prefer something relaxing, my interest is certainly piqued at a world more unfair than this.

Choosing Etherysia, another whining sound, apparently, I have unlocked the race Demigod/Demigoddess. Surprisingly, or perhaps not so given so far, its description of it is ‘Moderator of the Realm. Allows limited access to one Domain. Gain Divine Language Comprehension. Gain Divine Inspect. Powerful race. Only available in Realms containing magic.’ Etherysia is of course one such Realm, given how they pair together it’s screaming at me to use it. Only problem is that this is a point-buy system and since Demigod/Demigoddess is considered as a Powerful race, it costs half of my available points. That’s 10 of my 20!

Regarding the two skills, it seems to be upgraded versions. Divine Language Comprehension works on dead, the Magic and the Divine language as well, while Divine Inspect gives more information and has a much larger range.

After choosing Demigod/Demigoddess as my race, it is making me choose a Domain. I had the following choices:

Given that my memories only go back to ones at Earth which are hazy at best, and I had a fascination with magic, my attention was drawn immediately to the last one. Sure, it’s my last 10 points, but I would not need anything else, right?

After confirming my Domain, I was moved to an Appearance editor. Either because I was at 0 already, or it really was the next step, everything from here was purely cosmetic*. Hovering over the star, it revealed ‘With the exception of Sexism, Racism, Bullying, etc. For races below Powerful, Sex also defines the reproductive role. Powerful and above cannot reproduce.’

Wincing a bit and closing that pop-up, I still decided to go ahead, hopefully not many would dare to do something against a literal demigod and having blood-related children never appealed to me.

As for my gender, I decided to go with feminine, since I identified a transgender woman, and isn’t being unable to reproduce and ‘being god’ the same? Also, for magic is usually associated with women. For my appearance, I decided for a shorter stature with a cute look. That being a girl with long pink hair, magical blue eyes and both pointy and fox ears. I also choose a pink dress to go along with the theme.

In the next step, I was able to choose from a couple starting locations: forest, mountains, summoning circle, and sky. Well, sky was greyed out, which I guess confirm that I can’t fly yet. Given I can’t fly and have no good reason, I have ruled out the mountains. The summoning circle sounds interesting, but also who knows what intelligent creatures would do when they summon a demigoddess? With this resolution, I choose the forest. Once I confirmed my choice, the music stopped and it went all white.
