“Here you go” I said as I give the receptionist the 5 kobold corpses some freak wanted for some reason, she look reasonably grossed out.

“T-Thanks” She replied as she take hold of the bag and put the content somewhere else. She then take some time preparing the reward and finishing the paperwork. She probably also have it pretty hard. Well I’m not sure if giving tips in front of others is a good idea or not, might have them think I’m flaunting my rich or something instead of thinking it came out of a goodwill.

“Seems like you’re fine with dealing with these odd requests” The armored man commented.

“Well if I wasn’t would I came here in the first place?” I remarked.

“Fair enough” He replied as he walked away, despite being somewhat silent and not emotional with his word he’s certainly not an unpleasant fellow unlike that other guy, speaking of which he have been gone for an hour or two now, which is good, this place feels a lot more pleasant, actually this place feels a lot more pleasant overall with someone like him gone. 

“Here’s your reward” The girl said as she handed the reward to me, it’s not as much as the giant one but that’s to be expected.

“Thanks” I said to her as I walk away.

I think that’s enough playing adventurer for now, I should go explore other places as well, I have visit the food stalls and the guild but this town still have more to offer, of course I really don’t need any new clothes or armor, new weapons are also unnecessary, so going to those places isn’t needed, but really I might as well go check them out anyway, as if I have anything to lose except time.

The gear shop is of course full of weapons and armors, no surprise there, it seems that things that aren’t really made of metal like bow is unavailable here, many weapons and armors display and they don’t seems to be of low quality by any means, but for someone of my level it really doesn’t help much.

“Miss are you sure not going to buy anything?” A big man behind the counter asked as I began to leave.

“Sorry, I’m simply here to sightsee is all, I’m fine with my weapons and armors” I replied.

“Really? Hard to tell from how you dress and pretty much with nothing on you” He commented.

“Appearance can be deceiving” I said as I’m leaving.

Well of course there are slums around the place, a few unfortunate people live here with their spirits very much down, this is also a kind of place with shady business going around, but it seems that there isn’t anything going on at this moment.

Aside from the clothes shop and a few minor shop like a craftsman shop and potion shop that from what I know are really expensive in this world, I mean a sort of miracle drug would be expensive wouldn’t it. People who can gets their hand on it still have to make a living so it’s make sense they’ll charge for something so valuable instead of giving it away. I mean sometimes people can go too far with that mentality and one of many reason they should be killed but now is not the time to think about genocide, let’s think about something else.

This place doesn’t exactly have a lot of offered at first glance, I think there are some nobles around in a town, maybe they’ll have something interesting with them, or maybe that guild master know something about this world that I don’t, perhaps I should go visit the guild one more time, let’s see what I can learn about this world, half of me weren’t exactly interested in anything unrelated to killing humans so really I didn’t get to know a whole lot. I’m certain going to the guild is way easier than a noble’s home so let’s do the former.

“Welcome… are you doing more request today?” The receptionist asked.

“Nothing like that, I’m just thinking about asking for an audience with your guild master, I just remembered there’s something else I wanted to ask him” I answered.

“Ah, well I can go ask for his permission, please wait for-”

“There’s no need for that” A firm voice cut in the receptionist’s talk. It’s the assistant girl.

“Why is that?” I asked.

“The guild master said that if you want an audience with him you can come in whenever. I do not understand why he’ll make an exception for you but it is what he commanded” She explained, seems convenient for me, I get the feeling he might be somewhat afraid of me, go figure.

“Is that so? Then I supposed I could’ve just walk up to his room and get in?” I asked.

“If he’s in his room at the moment then that wouldn’t be a problem” She said, what does that mean?

“Huh? He’s not here right now?” I asked.

“Yes, the commotion you caused just a few hours ago catch the attention of one of the noble in the town and he has to go deal with her… antics so to say” She explained.

“Is that so? Guess I’ll have to come back later then” I said as I try to back away and go somewhere else.

“Wait, there’s something you can do to help him out” The assistant said while blocking my path.

“And… what is that exactly?” I asked, feeling a bit nervous with her getting closer.

“Since this is a mess you partially caused, you should go see the noble for yourself and make her stop making a fuss about you specifically” She explained.

“Okay… and where am I supposed to go and what am I supposed to do?” I asked, feeling like I’m getting into some shady business. She then handed me something.

“This is the map of this town, and the noble’s mansion is located here on the map” She answered while pointing at the big building on the map, this map is very detailed I must say.

“Can I keep the map?” I requested.

“Sure, now get going already” She duly answered.

“Yeah yeah” I replied

So this is the noble’s mansion? It’s what a mansion would look like and this place is quite fancy, along with some guards around.

“Excuse me” I said as I approach the mansion.

“Halt! Who’s there!” One of the guard asked while on guard.

“The adventurer who have been causing a commotion just this morning, seems like your lady is interested in me and she’s being inconvenient to the guild master” I answered.

“Can’t argue that she is a bit of a nutcase but I still cannot allow anyone to enter without her permission. Hey! You newbie guard over there!” He said while yelling at a rather meek looking boy who is also a guard?

“Y-Yes?” He meekly said.

“Watch her and make sure she doesn’t go anywhere. I’ll go report about you being here to Milady, stay put” He explained as he walk into the mansion, guess it’s just me and this little kid.

Awkward silence ensues…

…How long does that take?

Ah there’s the guy.

“Sorry for the wait, she is being childish just like usual again, you are now permitted to enter as a guest” He said and walk to his station.

“Okay then” I said to nobody in particular, the boy seems to go somewhere else and now it’s just me going back into this mansion.

“Please reconsider this, I know she suits your fancy but I do not have power over the adventurers, I might be able to enforce something on them but they still have freedom, that’s how the guild operates, much like other of your request I cannot and will not comply” I can hear the guild master talking from the other side of the door, I think I should go in and say hello.

*Open*

“Hey what’s going on over here?” I asked as I barged in.

“Ah, there you are!” On the other end of the room is a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, short wavy fluffy hair and short stature, and of course the guild master as well.

“It’s nice that you’re here and all but please don’t make things more complicated okay?” The guild master said sounding very tired about the whole situation, can’t blame him on that front.

“You! Named yourself and vow to be under my servitude!” ...A noble brat is it? Seems like she’s going to be a very tough nut to crack.

“I won’t serve anyone” I bluntly replied…

…

Her face immediately turned red.

“How dare you!” She shouted and trash about childishly.

“I’m not really sure if that makes the situation any better but thanks for coming to help” The guild master said still sounding tired.

“I’m a noble! You have no right to deny me like that! Both of you!” She yelled out, she’s nothing but a child, why is this even a problem?

“I’m sorry but with her here to deny your invitation herself I don’t think there’s anything else to say here” The guild master said to the childish noble.

“Come on! I have been waiting for a cool and strong lady to be my own personal knight! Those burly men are so not appealing!” She complained, so that’s why she’s making a fuss? Can’t find any strong female around here to be near her and such, a rather petty reasoning I would say.

“Please stop with this and let us go, please?” The guild master asked.

“Be my personal knight in shining armor please?” Childish noble pleaded, that cute teary look won’t work on a demon who kill who knows how many like me.

“No” I said as I-

*Grab*

“H-Hey!” Grab the guild master’s arm and drag him out. Forcefully.

“You know she might not immediately react but I’m pretty sure she won’t let you go that easily and she might drag me in again” The guild master said to me as we leave the mansion.

“In the worst case all I have to do is killing her off isn’t that right?” I said somewhat jokingly, but from his expression it’s not a joke for him.

“Please don’t” He exasperatedly said, despite possibly one of the strongest people around this time period he actually have it quite rough huh.

“That’s a last resort” I casually said.

“Hah… Hopefully that’s actually the case” He said while sighing.

“After we got back I hope you could fill me in more about this world” I said. He paused for a bit then look at me.

“Huh?” He let’s out somewhat confused.

“I’m trying to do stuff and just find something interesting in this world and was hoping you would have something interesting to share” I explained.

“What… do I get out of it?” He asked.

“Your life privilege” I answered. It’s actually just a joke

“Oh…” And he doesn’t take it that way once again.

“Glad to see you’re back master” The assistant said to her master as we both walk into his office.

“So what the heck do you want to know?” He asked looking really stressed.

“I actually haven’t thought about that in depth just yet but perhaps… how about the identity of the mythril rank adventurers?” I asked in return.

“That’s… what are you planning to do with them?” He asked.

“Nothing really, I just want to know for the sake of knowing, is that so wrong?” I answered and asked back.

“...I just don’t want anyone of such a legendary rank just killed off by you because of me, I still have a responsibility as a guild master after all” He explained, despite the first impression he really took his work and position seriously. 

“No need to worry about that, unless I have a goal in mind that make me oppose them then I won’t harm them” I said.

“How reassuring” He sarcastically said.

“So? How about it? Will you spell the bean?” I said playfully.

“...Can I simply say their title and such?” He asked, so that’s how he’ll do it huh, fine then.

“Sure, as long as it’s a clue” I answered.

“The Scarlet Carnage. The Black Crimson. The Flaming Edge. The Hooded Seraphic. Those are the four mythril ranked adventurer that existed” Only four? That’s way less than expected. I don’t think I have came across anyone fitting the description… except for…

“Isn’t the Flaming Edge you?” I questioned.

“Y-Yes, even if I am the guild master I am also an adventurer, I’m also counted, admittedly I have only meet one of them personally and she’s even stronger than me, and she’s not a reincarnated individual” He answered. So that’s how it is. Someone even higher leveled than him, and they are not reincarnated, isn’t that something.

“Interesting” I said.

“For you maybe” He remarked.

“Still though is there really no other mythril ranked adventurer around?” I asked.

“There’s one more I know of but they retired, not dead, just retired” He answered.

“And the name?” I asked.

“...Bloodied Flower” That’s a weird name. 

“Anything else interesting to share?” I asked.

“Not really… but maybe if you went to the Creation Tree you might be able to find something interesting” The Creation Tree? What is that?

“What in the world is that?” I asked.

“You’ve never heard of it? It’s a giant tree somewhere within the Mystinical Forest that is rumored to house all kind of treasures and knowledges, but it’s safeguarded by hundreds if not thousands of golems and magical life forms to keep out intruders” He explained, how come I’ve never heard of this before?

“That place doesn’t exactly sound like a fun time” I noted.

“That doesn’t even cover it, the tree is surrounded by barrier that boost the vitality and magical resistance of every residents inside while lowering all of your stats and ailment resistance by half, while also completely shutting down your magic. I barely escaped intact” So he went there before.

“Sounds like some sort of post-final boss dungeon, how strong are the foes inside?” I asked.

“Level 300 at minimum from what I saw, I can’t even pass the ground floor” That strong? Even some of the lower dragons wouldn’t be able do anything to a place like that, seems like it’s a much tougher environment than that dragon mountain. 

“I know I’m much stronger than you and the guards on the lower floor but even you should know even I’m not invincible right?” I asked. 

“Well it’s not like I have anything else to share, have been managing this place day and night and don’t exactly have the time to do anything” He answered. I mean that’s one place of interest but really there’s no way I can go through a place like that, maybe if Mom or especially Kaa-san came along, but there’s no way I would bring them along and inconvenience them.

“So that’s it? That’s lame” I said.

“Can you go now? This day have been quite hectic” He asked. 

“Sure” I replied as I walk out.

Now that I think about it is the Creation Tree on this map? …It is on the map and I didn’t even noticed it, it’s actually not that far off from the castle, my castle, of course even if I said that it only look that way on the map that looks like it’s depicting a large country. Honestly speaking I really don’t want to go there, sounds like a place of nightmare, this Creation Tree… Creation Tree… why does this feels familiar… well I think I shouldn’t ponder on it for now, I think I’ll take a break for the time being, and plan out my next move… maybe I’ll silently deal with that noble brat before things got out of hand.

In the middle of the night where vision is limited, this is a good time to end her. Breaching the security is easy in such a setting. I’m outside the mansion not in anyone’s line of sight. Also I didn’t wear my coat thing for obvious reason.

*Flap* *Fly*

All I have to do is fly around and find the girl’s room… there it is. Now I have to open the window… it’s locked obviously, thankfully using mana I can-

*Shock*

...Great, there’s some sort of mana detector that shoots out electricity in retaliation, should’ve figured, not that the shock did much to me anyway. Normal mage would’ve been incapacitated, I won’t.

*Shock* *Unlock*

Yeah that doesn’t work on me.

*Open*

Okay, now I just have to walk up to her and stab her to death… still sleeping peacefully on a massive bed. Just aim for the chest.

*Rustle* 

Hm? Something is moving inside her blanket, I think I should backed away, maybe even leave for now.

“Nya…” What’s with that sound? That’s not the girl’s voice for certain. Is that purple hair and cat ears I saw?

…

A girl with purple hair crawled out of the blanket and embrace the girl, and not just a girl, a cat girl… sleeping peacefully with the girl with a smile on her face.

…

What am I even doing… perhaps this was a tad too far… perhaps I think a bit too irrational there, I think I should just leave her be.

And with that the assassination wasn’t carried out, and I’ll keep this story to myself for who knows how long. I’ll just forget about this and perhaps ignore the problem that is this girl for now.
