…A brand new day… awoken after the eventful yesterday with Rosia by my side… I wonder what I could do today… The adventure will have to wait, and staying here playing… perhaps that’ll be something Rosia isn’t into… I think something else… I think my other hobby will have to wait, I’ll just try walking around the forest and look for anything meaningful I guess… speaking of Rosia.

“Hey wake up” I said while shaking her body. Her sleeping face is cute I must say, but that’s beside the point.

“Hrng… Good morning Maova” Rosia said, groaning as she wakes up.

“Good morning as well. Say do you have any idea of what to do today?” I asked, perhaps she’ll have a better idea.

“Not really” She said as she stands up and stretching for a bit.

“I see… well I’m thinking of wandering about around the forest for a while, just getting some fresh air, would you come along with me?” I asked.

“I will” She replied.

“Okay then, let’s dress up. I’ll go check up on Mom and Kaa-san, you can stay here for now” I said as I dressed myself up in my usual attire.

*Zoom*

Alright, now I’m in the hallway, let’s take a look… Mom’s room should be here… Hm? What’s with this door next to her room? It wasn’t decorated like this before… I wonder if I should enter…

*Open*

“Oi. Don’t open that lest you want to miss an arm a second time” Mom sternly said. What a timing.

“A-Acknowledged” I said as I backed away from the door.

“Anyhow why are you here?” She asked.

“Just checking on you and Kaa-san… I’ll go mess around in the forest if that’s fine” I replied.

“Sure, go ahead” Mom said.

“Thanks” I replied.

*Zoom*

“So yeah, we’re doing this” I said teleporting back to my room. Rosia already finished dressing up… now that I think about it have she ever put her armor on? Even if there’s a rpg system that doesn’t quite bound in reality, that thing should still be quite good at protecting her.

“Say, have you ever tried that armor on?” I asked.

“That? I think about it sometimes but I never actually did… I think I’m just unsure about using it, even if it could’ve help me” She explained.

“Well it’s not a big deal, let’s just go” I said reaching out my hand to hers. And she grabs it.

*Zoom*

Now where are we… I was just thinking about a forest, I didn’t really think of anything specific… is that a hole in the ground?... Ah, this is where I dug that flower out.

“So now what?” Rosia asked.

“Why don’t we just walk around for a while? I’ll think of something in the meantime” I said as I talk the lead, and she follows.

#####

*Slash*

Rosia cuts down a wolf nonchalantly as it stands in the way.

“Says, what are the difference between animals and monsters?” Rosia suddenly asked.

“Hm? What’s that all of a sudden?” I said.

“Well, I have heard that there are differences between the two, but I don’t actually know the answer to that” She replied.

“Difference… if I have to say anything, there’s not much, monsters came in many shapes, naturally stronger than animals more often than not, naturally good at magic… if I have to use a comparison perhaps they’re to animals what demons are to humans, different but not quite” I explained.

“So monsters are demon animals?” She said.

“More or less” I said as I keep moving. Last time I was here there wasn’t anything eventful except for the flower and small town.

*Growl*

“More wolf is it?” Rosia said as she tighten her grip and take a more combat ready stance. As for me I just stand there.

*Lunge* *Slash*

It tried to lunge at me, but Rosia got in its way and slash at it, killing it instantly. Actually there’s one thing I forgot to mention.

“Also also. Do you know humans used to be a lot more like animal in the past?” I said.

“Really? How so?” Rosia asked.

“Their appearance and thinking changes over thousands of millennia, before then they weren’t much more than slightly intelligent animal” I explained.

“And why are you telling me this?” She said.

“Well it means humans are humanoid animals isn’t that right? As strange as that sounds” I said.

“Perhaps, but what about the demi-humans?” She asked.

“They are definitely not demons that’s for certain, but probably somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of humanoid and non-humanoid, it’s a bit complicated to think about really” I said.

“I see, and what’s the matter with all that you’ve said?” She asked.

“Then demons are really humanoid monsters if you think about it” I explained.

“And what am I to make of that information?” Rosia asked.

“Well… the more you know?” I said.

“Is it just me or are there more wolves around this part?” I said diverting the conversation

“It definitely feels that way, perhaps we’ll know why if we go in further” Rosia suggested. Looks like she overlook it as well.

“Then let’s do that” I said as I continue my walk.

#####

Getting through the thick woods, we find a clearing, and a bit of an unexpected discovery.

*Lunge* *Evade*

A massive wolf with blue, red, and white fur tried to lunge and bite into its opponent, but said opponent barely avoid the attack.

“Haaa… Haaa… Haaa…” Its opponent showing clear sign of exhaustion, gasping for air and clothes damaged and very bloodied, the wolf itself isn’t unscathed by any means, but compared to its opponent it’s at a clear advantage. Both of us just stand there and watch. Well me personally will go in and help eventually.

“What should we do?” Rosia asked.

“I’ll intercept the duel eventually, I’ll observe the fight for now” I said.

**Lunge**

The wolf this time lunge with the intention of clawing its opponent, while its opponent show the same intent, with both locking their claws due to both lunging at each other, its opponent is showing sign of being overwhelmed however, and gets pinned down by the massive wolf, baring its fang ready to finish its opponent off. Now it’s a good time to intervene I would say.

*Lunge* *Kick*

I lunged in myself and kick the wolf away from its target. I turn to look at the unexpected face.

“How peculiar so see you here, Tana was it?” I said greeting the young wolf girl. I take a side glance to see the wolf still twitching, I wasn’t really trying so it make sense that it wouldn’t die immediately.

I did a number on it huh, it’s no regular wolf for certain, perhaps an alpha? Who knows. Still Tana managed to survive against this thing for who knows how long, rather impressive. I look back at her and she’s dusting herself off and try to stand up properly. [High Heal].

“Huh?” She’s of course surprised by the sudden recovery of her body.

“Think of it as a gift for keeping me entertained… where are the rest?” I said and asked as I look around.

“Oh, they’re not awake when I left, I left early and accidentally get that thing’s attention” The wolf girl explained. She haven’t learn her lesson at all, but that’s her business.

“I see, well I think it’s time for us to part and you should go back” I said as I walk toward Rosia.

“W-Wait!” Tana suddenly said.

“What?” I asked as I turn around to look at her, I can catch a glimpse of Rosia being a tad frustrated as well.

“Can I come with you? I think I’ll learn a lot with you” She said.

“Really? Well I guess I wasn’t going anywhere too far from here, but I’m not thinking about going back right away” I said.

“That’s fine with me!” She said really trying to pursuade me.

“This is getting ridiculous, who is this girl with wolf features?” Rosia said as she walk into the clearing and asked.

“Right, you two have never met. This is Tana, a wolf girl I encountered and save. And this is Rosia, a girl I encountered and save, who is now a demon” I explained.

“Uhhh… what?” Tana said considerably confused.

“Don’t word it so redundantly, I get the idea but your wording can be frustrating” Rosia said.

“Hey hey no need to be so negative-”

*Howl*

The wolf then howled suddenly, still helplessly trying to move its limbs.

“What was that?” Rosia asked.

“Maybe it’s calling for other wolves? I dunno” I said half jokingly.

*Rustle* *Growl* *Growl* *Rustle* *Growl*

“I was somewhat joking” I tactlessly clarified. Six wolves showed up and surround us.

“Ahhh, this is bad!” Tana said panicking but also preparing to fight, Rosia meanwhile is perfectly composed, gripping her sword tight and her blade lights up.

*Slash* *Discharge* *Crash*

Her slash release a beam of light that cut three wolves in half and a few trees behind them to get cut down as well.

“Wawawa- What was that!?” Tana asked letting her guard down for a moment.

*Lunge*

“Wha!” She then noticed a wolf lunging at her and try her best to guard against it.

*Slash*

But I simply cut it down before it reach her, two more to go… actually.

*Beam*

I shoot one with a beam of light, now there’s only one.

“Rosia, let the girl handle this one” I said as I step back, and Rosia comply.

“Huh? I have to do this?” Tana asked.

“Either that or not coming with us” I replied.

“Then I’ll do it, I’ve already beaten some!” She said quickly baring her claws ready to go.

*Dash*

She rushes right in.

*Claw*

She managed to clawed the wolf before it can retaliate, but there’s no way that’ll be enough.

*Swing* *Evade*

The wolf swing its claw at the girl in retaliation, but she managed to avoid it, well if she can do so against the alpha she shouldn’t have any trouble with its underling.

*Lunge* *Pinned*

She managed to pinned down the wolf, I know she’s not a human girl but this is a bit abnormal for a young girl to handle. Well like logic always work in this world anyway.

*Claw* *Claw* *Claw*

Rather savage of her to claw right in, tearing into its body, but she definitely won this battle, and I can’t really expect clean cuts and blows from a random wolf girl so I can’t really complain… Well after a while she walk up to me.

“I did it! Can I go with you two now?” Tana requested cheerfully with blood on her hands, if humans were to see something like this they’ll probably scream in horror or something that silly, hunting is naturally a bloodied work and demi-humans are much more inclined to hunt and get bloody due to their usually stronger physique, in their culture blood is a much more common sight, while for humans they’re rather wimpy about it.

“Yeah sure, just follow my lead” I replied. And with that Tana joined the party, I should appraise her now so I know what I’m dealing with.

Hm? What is this trait?

[Appraisal]

[Speed Gather]: Continuously increase the user’s speed as the combat prolonged, effectiveness varied on multiple factors. Buff continuously decreases in strength when the user in out of combat.

That’s a powerful trait to have for certain, no wonder she can go against that massive wolf even if she’ll still lose. Well let’s began moving out and seeing any hidden secret that might be in this forest.

#####

*Claw* *Slash*

Tana took down a hostile horned rabbit while Rosia took down a bear in one slash. I just let them do most of the work really, nothing eventful happened after that. We keep moving

“So, how often are you out here fighting and exploring?” I asked to break the silence boring me.

“Just about everyday really” Tana replied casually.

“Is that so? Don’t your parents get worried?” I asked.

“They do, but I wanna go outside a lot” She explained. She’s really an adventuring type isn’t she.

“What about your friend?” I asked.

“Ragi and Mani comes with me often. Elisa come sometimes” Tana said.

“I see. Well anyway let’s keep moving on” I said as we still keep moving.

#####

“Nothing noticeable happened does it” Rosia commented.

“Put the word right out of my mouth. There certainly isn’t, unless you count random skirmishes” I replied. There truly haven’t been anything interesting going on at all. We’ve been going at this for about an hour. I take a look at the map and it shows that we’re walking closer to the edge of the forest, that wasn’t even my intention.

“Say, how about we go in a different direction? Considering we haven’t accomplished anything since we walk in this direction” I said as we stop moving.

“Good point, then where should we go next?” Rosia asked.

“I’d say… to my left” I said as I turn in that direction… Hm?

“You heard that?” Rosia asked. Sounds of footsteps, I can definitely hear that.

“Yeah I did” I replied.

“So am I” Tana followed up. We look around for a bit then realized there are a few people in the distance on the path we’re on. They seems to be a few adventurers, three man and a woman, one man is an archer, other is an axe fighter and the last of them use a sword, and the woman seems to be a scout or a thief, considering she noticed us first. They began walking toward us. At this point Rosia look ready to kill them and Tana is shivering. I put my arm in front of them.

“Now now no need to panic, just don’t do anything rashly okay?” I said. Then the party see us face to face. Tana is hiding behind me.

“How odd it is to see a group of adventurer here” I said.

“Same could be said for you” The woman of that group replied. She’s rather bland in terms of color, just normal brown hair and eyes.

“Fair enough, anyway why do you four approached me?” I asked.

“She saw you and we were curious who are in this damn forest” A man with a sword said. He’s a typical blondie I would say.

“And on another matter, we want to ask you if you’ve seen any monsters around as well, as we’re to hunt them down” The archer said. He have blonde hair and green eyes, brown robes and leather armor.

“Well I think you should be more specific in asking for a type of monster, but that aside all I have seen around are some horned rabbits and wolves” I replied.

“Hmmm… guess we should go for a different path” The archer said.

“Hey, who is that kid behind you?” The axe user asked.

“What? Why are you so interested about that?” I asked in return.

“So you noticed as well. Why he’s curious is because, as I can see, that girl have some extra… features that’s not exactly normal” The scout said.

“Don’t you think it’s a tad too sensitive to talk about someone’s abnormality?” I asked.

“Look, this is a big deal if she’s what I think she is, just let me see more” The scout said trying to see Tana but I shield her.

“Don’t even bother, just go on your way” I said beginning to give them cold stares.

“You’re being oddly persistent you know that?” The sword user said to me.

“...I think I’ll take my leave” The archer said as he walks away.

“Hey what the hell man?” The axe user said as he look at one of his companion walks away. That man is quite perceptive.

“Now do the same as your intellectual companion, this is your last warning” I commanded.

“You’re the one being stupid here, why are you so damn defensi-”

*Slash*

I cut her head right off and the body and the head fall to the ground, leaving the other two to stare in shock. The body standing for a second until it falls down and blood spilled out, the head rolling for a bit and I think the eyes twitched for a moment as well.

“I warned you” I said before two pillar of earth from the ground shoots up and pierce both of them, their blood gushing out and they struggled to move… and then they stopped. Rosia didn’t show any reaction, but Tana certainly does.

“Do you… really have to do that?” Tana asked unsure of my way of getting rid of them.

“Either that or risking endangering everyone back home, remember that humans don’t take your kind lightly” I replied. Tana can only ponder silently. Rosia walk to the body and store them all.

“Let’s go” Rosia said as she look at us.

“Yeah. Let’s see where this aimless journey will get us next” I said as we began walking in another direction.
