After leaving the tent he waited no longer and hurried his pace trying to get to the inn as soon as possible.  The slave he just bought was barely keeping up with his pace but he didn't slow down.

“Keep it up, we don't have much time.”

...

After 20 minutes he finally arrived at the inn and immediately headed to his room with the slave ignoring the gaze of the innkeeper.

*Cree~

As soon as je opened the door he came face to face with Munnji who was looking after the child. He had entered from the window like I planned trying to not raise any questions. Someone had brutally killed the mother of this child in that alleyway, but had not noticed the child in the trash bin. They certainly would come looking for the child so Nick came to the conclusion that it was best if no one beside him, Munnji and her knew.

...

 “You finally came back.

What took you so long?”

“I had to deal with some situation, nothing serious. So how is the child?”

“He is good in general, but he cried himself to sleep. The little rascal is really resilient.”

Nick tapped the  slave he had just bought and pointed  at Munnji who was holding the child and said.

“Look here! The reason I bought you is for you to look after this child while we figure out what our next move is, so get to it.”

She threw a glance at him and then slowly moved towards Munnji and took the child from him.

'This is good.'

Munnji and Nick then went to the other side of the room where a table with four chairs was and sat down to talk.

“I really don't trust her. She could easily tell on us to the innkeeper and then the innkeeper could inform the city guards making us criminals. Even if we escaped we would never be able to enter any heavily guarded city of this empire anymore and not to mention the ones that are after the child.”

“I know that you don't trust her , but there is really no possibility of her betraying me. The slave contract is a pretty useful spell. She cannot make any decisions that can directly or indirectly harm me or go against my wishes without me telling her first.”

“That is good to hear, but there is something you should look at first.”

Munnji took something from his pocket and handed it to him.

"A ring...

' It looks like was a simple looking ring on the outside, but it has a certain aura around it. It's definitely not normal. It's also light as a feather in my palm as if I was holding nothing.'

The ring Nick was holding was in a rustic red colour with gold lines that looked veins. It had carved in its head, what looked like to a horned eel.

“What is this ring and where did you get it?”

“I found the ring in the child’s hand. It was holding it tightly and not letting go. Maybe this is a clue that will lead us  to his origins?”

“Hmmm...

You there, do you recognize the symbol engraved in this ring?”

"Ahh..umm...

Nick asked the slave that was  feeding the child. She took a good long look at the ring and finally said.

“That symbol is definitely the symbol of the distinguished Najjal family.”

“The Najjal family? Who are they?

 Explain!”

“They are the most powerful noble family in this city. They have control of more than 2/3 of the city leaving the other noble families fighting for the scraps they leave behind.

Not only that, but their current family head is a late stage 3rd stage water elementalist , a powerhouse of the region.”

“Third stage water element mage?”

' Their family head is one stage higher than me and Munnji who are at the second stage, the seedling stage. He is powerful enough to kill both of us in less than five seconds that's how powerful a late stage 3rd stage water element mage is.

Both his and Munnjis faces blackened.

" We were in deep shit.

The child is definitely related somehow to the Najjal family the most powerful family in the city, but he was found in a trash bin in a dirty alley where a young woman was killed? This whole situation is messed up.

Munnji looked at him angrily.

“F*CK, the situation is so much worse than we imagined. The child is related to the Najjal family and they will definitely come to look for him. If they find out that we took him they we will definitely be killed by their family head.

You shithead! I told you we should have anonymously left him at a church or something and left.

F*CK, F*CK...

“CALM DOWN, the situation is not as bad as you think.

Taking into the consideration the way that this thing occurred I think that the perpetrator is not that powerful. He may even be from the Najjal family seeing as the woman was killed so sloppily, being stabbed three times in the stomach in a back alley. It was definitely not a professional. This definitely reeks of family drama.”

“That may be true, but that still doesn’t make our situation any better. We still are f*cked if we get found out.”

After thinking for a minute Nick reached into his backpack that was to the side and pulled out a metal plate.

“I think I have found out a solution.”
