It took the two a bit to navigate the world again in their new forms, but they managed it. Instead of grabbing or touching something physically, they now had to use the electromagnetic force produced by their energy bodies to do so. The energy which made up their bodies would dissipate if their will faltered, but they could just as easily reshape it in a different place, as long as it was covered by the Shirah system. August made sure to save multiple small Shirah Satellites on Earth and sent a few more into deep space, acting as beacons of light in an eternal void. Those beacons, once activated and connected, would allow them to travel all the way there, as a last resort to escape should the earth itself be destroyed. Once they figured out how to maintain physical forms without destroying everything they touched, as they were extremely energetic in nature now and would reduce physical matter to ash constantly if not properly restrained, the two descended on a perfectly flat mountain top somewhere in Canada. A meadow had overtaken barren rock and trees grew from pockets of dirt. A serene lake graced the center of the plateau, crystal blue water running down small streams down the mountainside. “This was where I grew up. When I left, I rid this place of all traces of civilization. It seems that nature has reclaimed it. I think it’s better that way, to be honest.” Kayden looked around the idyllic scene around them, feeling content with the way things ended here. After all this time, finally, she now has the courage to confront her broken past. “Yes, it’s quite beautiful here. Are you alright?” August asked with concern. Although the trauma of her past had mostly healed, August was still concerned that coming back here would bring back bad memories.

“I'm fine. Honestly, this place holds no more meaning to me, except for a fresh start. The past is the past. It has shaped me, yes, but I have conquered it and made it my own. Now, this place is just a beautiful scenic spot that holds some sentimental value in my heart for the fond memories I had here.” Kayden smiled softly at her fiance's concern. “Let’s get back to business. There’s still lots to do. Humanity is ever evolving, but there will always be bad apples. We cannot hold their hand forever. We must guide them, not smother them with our rule.” Kayden turned around and was about to get back into the car, but August’s hand on her wrist stopped her. As she looked back questioningly, August spoke. “You’re right. We will let them make their own mistakes, and learn from them. We are guides, not tyrants. The world can run itself for a few weeks without us. If it truly cannot, then it is not worthy of our guidance.” With a wave of his hand, a cozy log cabin appeared by the lake. “In our pursuit of ever greater power for the sake of our dreams, perhaps we have begun to neglect the little things in life which we once found enjoyable. What is life, if not to live, laugh, and love? Now, we have all the time in the world. Let’s stay a bit, while you tell me about those fond memories of yours, shall we?” A heartfelt smile bloomed on Kaden’s face as the couple walked hand in hand into their new abode, ready to begin a new, more free, yet more exciting chapter of their lives.
