"He is a good man. He is home every night he can, doesn’t have mistresses, and truly loves me."  Freydis explains. "And in time maybe, I will learn to truly love him back and maybe you will find it in your heart to forgive me. "

Deimos says nothing.  It shattered his heart when he heard the news of the engagement and now hearing it from her soft lips, surprises himself that he feels no anger, just regret. He didn’t allow the feeling to break his composure and instead hardens his will.

"There's nothing to forgive, Freydis. We are family. Let the all else lie." Deimos said as he left her in the cold night.

As he walks away, Deimos contemplates. He knows that Freydis did it because she wants to protect her foster father, Grendell. The ambition of Duke Brutus Numidicia, ruler of Barantir, is alarming, forming alliances with the influence of his wife’s family, the behemoth Baal Family. It is an open secret that Brutus wants to be king. So Freydis married into powerful family to curb the alarming ambition of Brutus. Poor Freydis, she only wants to experience life, make art and music but she is also smart. If Brutus wants to be king, her family is on the chopping block. In the end, Freydis chose duty over love as her sobs grew faint from the distance.

Freydis steels herself to confront Deimos. It’s been years since they last talked. He was quiet back then, always inside his own world. In rare moments where he would show his real self, it was like a cheerful forest sprite. Calm and refreshing, holding nothing back of his tremendous feelings. She loved that side of Deimos, diving into that deep ocean. Now, she can see that the boy grew into a man. Proud, silent, and powerful like the icebergs of the northern seas. The embrace melted her heart and brought utmost joy. Then it surprised her heart to see him say goodbye to her without even trying to persuade her. She thought he would be angry. That she could understand and even want to because it shows his feelings. Instead, his eyes burned cold.

No. It is better this way.I must let him go. Freydis reasoned as she watched Deimos walk away. Yet she runs to catch him , heart burning with desire as rational thinking is thrown out the window.

"You think I’m going to let you got that easily, little shark?" Freydis says as Deimos felt a warm embrace from behind.
