Status Report 2

I don't want to stay dark about my situation, so here's another update.  Things have been like a roller-coaster and there's no set time-frame for any of this.

I'm going to need to move from the home I thought would be my always-place to be.  For the last few years, I took care of my Grandfather, cooked meals for him and did whatever things his in home cleaning girls/nurses didn't that he needed.  I thought I'd get to stay in this place until the end, but it seems things aren't that simple.

My Grandfather's debts are forcing us to sell the property.  I'll share the remnants of what's left with my sibling after a lawyer, debtors and a realtor finish gorging and get their fill.  It's uncertain whether what I get would end up with would pay for a new home.

At best, I'll be able to pay all or most of either solution I have in mind, but at worst it'd be a down payment and I'd end up paying on whatever I chose for much of the rest of my life.  '^^

Solution 1: Buy a house of my own... it could happen if I got financed.
Benefits: Better healthcare if it's in a city.
Cons: Depending on the place I got there could be drawbacks, hidden repair costs...

Solution 2: A fifth wheel and a truck.
Benefits: Live closer to family.
Cons: If I went to a smaller community, potentially there might be worse healthcare and tougher winters.

I'll be debating on the virtues and negatives associated with both of these methods for a while yet since it all pends what the lawyer says and if/when this place sold.  Sure there's low income housing, but it's harder than ever to get something decent that way these days with soaring homelessness rates.

I'm not sure what my odds are like of finding housing that way.
