I have more important news and this time the update isn't regarding bad news! <3
In the last few weeks I've been considering the possibilities of publishing Superluminal, since a friend has been encouraging me to look beyond what we're doing with the story at the moment! All this means is that if I work hard and am fortunate, we could get it out there and it may make me some much needed income!
Starting from The Dream I'll expand the book until it reaches at least 50,000 words (currently around 30,000) because the goal is to make Superluminal into a light novel series! It should be a simple matter to do, since I have a plan to do just that! However there are some challenges... but we don't know that for sure. It's not a certainty that these things will be barriers until we reach that point. Before those questions are ready to be asked, we'll edit and expand book one.
This means that new details will be added to The Dream and as a result the first book will hopefully be an even more compelling book to read.
The downside of this plan is that Elodie Elegy will have to remain a framework for some time. If the story is accepted, I may have to remove the story from places across the internet. I hope everyone wouldn't mind supporting the effort if this was achieved.
Nothing is certain so there are even odds that publishing would resume here on Scribbles.
Despite what I said, there IS some bad news... assuming you didn't take the last bits as bad news... The real bad news in my opinion is that Felicia Namikaze will no longer be producing our covers... However her last project, the current and former concept for book one will be made into a wallpaper to reward patrons for their support. Of course patrons will receive free copies of the ebooks! <3 I'm not sure how to arrange paperback copies for people... More on Felicia-chan, she took a job that may give her more lucrative income than her commissions have thus far. I wish her luck and success. She'll be working on assets for a game of some sort from what I understand of her situation.
So this means a new artist will need to be found since she'll be literally tied up for the next few years. Odds are I'll need to go through the publisher if the opportunity was landed.
All my love to all my readers and patrons,
I'll keep everyone posted on my author's page here on Scribblehub on the progress! <3
Deviled Egg is fully available here and on Amazon with a few bonus chapters.
Similarly, Love Crafted is available both here and on Royal Road as well as on Amazon (not sure on differences, as I fell way behind on reading it online before I got the book).
Maybe ask the authors about their experience and see if their model is one you'd like to keep the current version available and still have a properly published (expanded and edited) version for additional income.
Posting an only lightly edited version here and then having a fully released book with additional content isn't too far off from how some Light Novels work.
Right! The draw to buy would be more edits and expansion. *grins* <3 If the publisher allowed this, I would!
Book.
Book good

Why you would want to remove the book from your primary base of support is super questionable.
Secondly, you're not likely to succeed in real publishing. That's exactly why web novels are popular.
That's true... but the thing is, while I could gather patrons and they might pay a fraction of what publishing could provide, if publishing came through (and it's not guaranteed in the least... there are questions and issues).
Secondly, we're not sure of that. Web novels are indeed popular because they're free to read, but free to read only helps authors get closer to achieving their dreams. It's a period where we need to gain experience, traction, and yush... a following. <3 If I couldn't succeed in publishing, the publisher wouldn't publish it and thus I wouldn't go anywhere. <3 This just ties me up a bit while I try to make that happen! *purrs*
@Rellawing It's the Piracy Problem. How do you charge money for some people can't afford to, or aren't willing to pay for.
On the other hand, free is great for publicity.
@KatherineFtw I get what you're getting at, but I think that there's a deal to be worked out here. Another story I'm reading by the name "Salvos (A Monster Evolution LitRPG)" is available from Amazon. How this works is that the author has continued posting here, but the books become available for kindle as they finish writing them. This results in a free release for those who can wait/don't have the ability to purchase while also supporting the author. Many of the readers went and got the book just for that reason, they like the story.
In a note for @Rellawing, it may be possible that you don't add the details here, necessarily, as the expanded versions of each volume would be a massive draw for those who would be interested in that deeper experience. Even if you did put the extra material in, it could be spaced enough that when you go back to do a round of editing on everything, you do a "mega-update" on 1 volume at a time. That would then encourage the free readers to go back and see what new details there are.
It's not a cash grab then, but it also doesn't overwhelm you as the writer or put readers who enjoy this, out because of a paywall. If that's the way it goes, it might be worth talking to the writer of Salvos about their experiences.
@miyoga That's highly informative, Miyoga! <3 I'll consider that! If the publisher give me that option, I definitely did consider leaving the normal version of the story here... maybe less editing and yes the expansions I mentioned that I'm writing to add to The Dream would go to the published version, assuming the book was approved. <3
