"Urrgh!" (Shari)
Ah, she is back!
Her mind is now fully converted into the core, so she can again think with its help.
It is difficult to hide my excitement, as regaining her consciousness was the last hurdle.
Hmm, it seems like she is trying to move, but that should be difficult right now.
As much as I know, she can’t have acquired any control over her mass this soon.
Instead, she is trying to use her muscles.
The problem is, there are none or at least the last bits are vanishing right now.
We are right now at the finish line and the rest will be consumed very fast, with all the slime that is absorbing her insides.
Still, she has quite some willpower, if she she can lift it; if only a bit.
Maybe she is even controlling the slime a little without knowing.
I’m a bit anxious!
This is an extremely important moment, yet she's about to experience something that could maybe be called traumatic.
The least I can do is to make her feel comfortable.
So don’t forget to smile!
I wave at her, to show that I’m happy that she managed to wake up again.
Then I draw close to her.
The poor thing has to go through a very hard time and someone should assist her to get through it.
And since I caused it, it’s my responsibility!
"P-Please don’t feed me again!" (Shari)
She still doesn’t seem to like the slime, but I believe that in a short time she won’t have much of a choice.
The good thing is that I don’t need to feed her anymore since we are already done and it is only a matter of minutes.
I can see already the liquid bulging in her lower appendages.
But when she will need something in the future I will gladly help her out, as it might take a long time till she can hunt on her own.
"Okay, but if you need any just say so, what’s mine is yours. All of it!" (Liqu)
I mean it!
This one is my all and I will make sure she is fine with all I have!
"R-really? You are not just going to do it like the other times?" (Shari)
"It’s okay now! More importantly, how do you feel?" (Liqu)
I don’t want her to be in pain, but I don’t know how it will feel if her body gets transformed while she is aware.
"M-my head feels strange… light, kind of floating and I can’t really move my limbs.
Did… Did you give me something? Some kind of drug?" (Shari)
Well, I obviously gave her something and it did do something to her brain, but I don’t believe that is what she means.
Also, I guess I can tell her now.
Too much surprise could take her aback!
I don’t want her to despair because she can’t change anything now, but just throwing her in would be cruel, too.
In fact, she already completely transformed.
Having her core and some accompanying mass, the rest is only appearance.
"No, but I think I know the reason." (Liqu)
"What is going on? What is the reason?" (Shari)
"It might be because your brain is mush." (Liqu)
That is quite obvious as her inner organs were the first to get turned, foremost the brain to transfer her mind.
No wonder her head feels strange.
It is filled with liquid.
That must feel different.
"H-how do you mean this?" (Shari)
Seems like I have to be a bit more explicit.
"Like I said. Your brain is mush, melted, liquefied!" (Liqu)
"No, this can’t be! Look; if that would be true, that would be a severe damage. I would be dead now!" (Shari)
I can understand her disbelief, but it won’t help her to sugarcoat it.
"No; I can tell for sure your brain certainly melted" (Liqu)
"I don’t know what you want! I’m okay! My body is completely intact!" (Shari)
"I did not say that you’re not okay. But if you’re referring to your human body I can’t agree with you." (Liqu)
Yep, that one is certainly lost!
We are so far that at this point, I don’t need to convince her.
She is going to turn any moment.
"Good thing is we’re already there, so no need for explanations." (Liqu)
"What is going on?" (Shari)
"Well, you could just look down at your legs." (Liqu)
They well up considerably and are filled to the brim.
Her insides are almost fully consumed and just her hull is presently lasting.
The shell of a human.
That will soon change!
"What does that mean? What is with my legs? (Shari)
This is something she should confirm herself.
She might trust her own judgment more than my word.
"You better check yourself." (Liqu)
Like this, she is poking her legs.
Since she did not mention discomfort, her sense of pain should be turned off.
No surprise without a brain that could control it.
Because of that, she is poking harder looking for a response, until the wonderful insides become apparent.
"What is going on?! What is this?!" (Shari)
Her slime flows out with its beautiful blue color.
What I gave her turned all her innards into mass for her core.
"That’s the slime that spread all-over inside your body. It became a bit more, but where did you think it was going?" (Liqu)
Soon it's gushing out, starting the inevitable reaction.
Greater amounts flow out by the second and turn the bit that’s left into her new body.
"No, no, no, no, no!" (Shari)
It is such a beautiful sight, seeing her transformation.
She will become a lovely slime for sure.
"It has such a nice color!" (Liqu)
"Please! Help me!" (Shari)
Should I tell her that her agitation is in fact triggering the dissolving, like this leading much faster to her change?
But I don't see how that would help her.
There is nothing left for me to do, but I can comfort her.
"Don’t worry! Everything’s fine!" (Liqu)
"No! Save me! I don’t wa-Gllrrb!" (Shari)
Now she nearly is fully transformed, as the last bits of her vanish in herself, she turned into a puddle, with a beautiful bright red glowing core inside.
The core can be considered as ourselves, so the color can refer to her character.
Her color indicates activity, life, forward approach, and warmth.
However, right now she is rather inactive and you couldn’t distinguish her from one of these mindless slimes I know.
Yet, the fact that she talked without her brain proves different.
So I wait till she can shape her body back.
After some time I decide that she has problems doing it alone and commences to help her.
How do I do this?
I think I’ve mentioned before that slimes can connect their minds with their cores.
I do so by mixing my liquid with hers until we share the same body.
- "Still rather static." (Liqu)
Normally two cores in one body just lead to contradicting orders.
But I will hold myself back and let her find herself.
Her thoughts are clear to hear, but I stay as silent as possible to not confuse her, as the distinction of minds can get quite difficult.
- "It seems like you can’t make it alone. Let’s assist you." (Liqu)
- "What I can’t do? I’m not into talking to myself and that tops it by far!" (Shari)
- "Pull yourself back together." (Liqu)
- "Back from what? Dying? I think that’s a bit much to expect!" (Shari)
It’s not strange that she sees it like this.
And in some way, one could say that she died.
At least her old body disintegrated, that comes as close as possible.
- "Like this." (Liqu)
I give her instructions how she shall pull herself back to gather her mass and form a human shape.
At the same time, I support her with my own control of the slime.
Still, she needs to learn this, so I make sure that most of the action comes from her.
- "Why do I see this? I know how I look!" (Shari)
I show her an imprint of her body that shows the form she needs to shape herself in.
She can set the imprint as a goal.
Like this, she has a mold that helps to shape her to her old form.
If not in color.
So I can leave her, as she can do the rest alone.
Finally, she manages to attain the same kind of body I have.
Now open your eyes.
As your new life is about to begin.
Thx for the chap.
But really need more and faster
You need to be careful. That sounds like a severe addiction.
@expentio Nope that healthy
@Stonelight healthy dose of unhealthy addiction?
For a minute there though Shari had an a.i. built in her core. Nice to hear that it was best girl Liqu helping out her new waifu-pet
I am still surprised that Liqu, the prime example for a violent sociopath, gets all the sympathies.
Well, at least she is proactive.
Also the very best in conveying difficult topics.
"Why do I feel strange?" "Your brain melted!"
@expentio Violent Psychopath? True she ain't a cinnamon bun but the only thing she did bad was kidnapping her, and upgrading her race is debatable. She fed her and protect her, true she needs a lot more stuff, but what can you expect from a slime, she ain't a human she only know what she could hear and see about them. As they say, ignorance it's bliss.
Not saying that Shari is in the wrong, though, she is the victim and has all her right to panic and whatnot, which is normal, but Liqu is an abnormal, since what she is doing is more entertaining that how Shari is reacting, her reactions are actually really good too, but again, just want her to be a sentient slime girl so I can't be on her boat
@Ruiso First: sociopath, not psychopath, big difference.
Unable to show empathy/see things from the others perspective, no/weak sense of guilt, easily frustrated, violent behavior, ignoring social norms and rules, impulsive. (mental conditions are never exact, some might be more, some less fitting)
We are talking here about someone who intentionally caused a situation where two people ended up dead. (the fact that she doesn't purposely hunts humans means not that she doesn't per se)
And while her social skills are abysmal, she is a genious in survival, her own abilities and risk assessment. She knew perfectly well it could end like it did, but was sure that SHE would survive it.
Also she didn't directly feed Shari, she fed her core, so it can take over her body.
Yet she is a sweetheart how she from her perspective tries everything to be nice.
@expentio those two adventurers tried to kill her, she just wanted some interesting stories about other humans, she even tried to dissarm him so that he doesn't attack her, even when he 'fell' inside of her she didn't dissolve him instantly, since she could but didn't, she did later since he got really close to her core while she was stuned by the lightning bolt.
Again she is a slime so you can't judge her as a human, 'And while her social skills are abysmal, she is a genious in survival, her own abilities and risk assessment. She knew perfectly well it 'could' end like it did, but was sure that SHE would survive it.' here you said it, survival, she do what it takes to get out of that situation alive, she tryied to comunicate with them, if she were to just go and kill them, they might not even notice how they died and there would be no survivor to tell of her an risk her survival.
Again I'm not saying that she is guilt free mind you, she still killed two people along who knows how many wolves and boars.
Also even if she fed the core inside, it was later since she was surprised that Shari's empty slime core formed in the first place, before that she had to keep human Shari alive or she would not get a slime waifu.
All in all she ain't bad not she is good, her actions seems horrible and weird through the eyes of us humans, but comparing that a regular slime would just dissolve anything, human or not, she atleast tried to show them that it was pointless and she didn't want to kill them, she gave them multiple chances, specially big sword dude.
She could retaliate and kill him when his sword got stuck in her, but she didn't or again when he fell inside of her she could easily deemed him a threat to her core and dissolve him, but she didn't, she could have shoot acid balls at the rouge to kill him but she just glued him instead, she could have killed the sexy mage for her lightning rain, but she just slapped her and then was about to throw her if it wasn't for the healer.
@Ruiso Calm, calm. I know Liqu isn't completely dislikeable.
She wasn't directly surprised that the core formed, it was planned like this, but she was pleased and relieved that her experiment worked out. The slime meanwhile has not of nutritional value for a human. Rather in these amounts it killed all the bacteria in her bowel, so the opposite. And due to her dissolvings, also of other humans, she is also a genious in anatomy of most creatures, so she knew.
The slime was a culture medium for the core, even before it formed it supported, after this as well.
And while these adventurers had any chance to stop and like this are mostly at fault, Liqu caused the situation because she was bored. Mostly completely understandable from her side, yet a little ruthless. And the kills don't weigh on her mind. Or what she does to Shari, very much without her consent.
So at least sociopathic tendencies.
@expentio Of course the kills don't weight on her mind, she ain't human, she also doesn't have a brain which might influence the mind a bit, kinda hard to test since if you remove the brain out of anything that had one they die. Like if a human kill another human, usually their first couple of time, they will feel remose and want to puke and whatnot, but when a human killed a chicken, he is like dinner is gonna be great. Maybe, not everyone, just an example, since I don't think I could kill and eat an animal and there might be people out there that felt nothing when they killed someone for the first time, again hard to test. May depent on how it was rised, like if a person was born on a society were they kill and eat other humans then they might kill without remorse since to them is normal... don't know were I'm going with this.
Also yeah she is a sociopath if judged under a human standard only, since slimes are kinda ret*rded, she is an enigma so new rules and laws should be made to judge her.
Atleast she isn't feral, like if she were a sentient slime and used her superior knowledge, compare to regular slimes, to hunt and kill other sentients along with monsters just so that it can get stronger, then she might not be that likeable, maybe someone will find her cute, since there are always some weirdos out there, I'm a different kind of weirdo.
But she is just lonely, she tryed to socialize with humans since they were more interesting but it turn out that a sentient slime that can have a human form is just to terrifying for them, who knew that a cute slime waifu be so terrifying, so she was kinda forced to kidnap a young defenseless little girl and bring her to her home to 'make' her, her friend.
Also kinda like this chat, helps me keep me sane until the next chapter is released.
@Ruiso I'm glad that people like it. I was very unsure if there might be a friendly response. (The internet can be cruel at times.) Might probably never have published one of my stories. Or directly stopped.
Sadly the next will be the last double release, like announced. Yet if I would bring them all out at once, there would be no exchange like this. Also this side is messing up my word document structure when copying, so I need time to fix this.
@expentio if people don't like it it is their loss, you are doing great so far. It really is just one chapter explained through two povs, so the overall progress should feel really similar once it goes back to one chapter.
Wondering what will happen if Liqu transforms a magic user, will the resulting slime retain their magical properties but without their limited human bodies? Like getting both the Healer girl and the Voluptuos Mage into her pet pen for testing, getting a whole group of sentient slime race and Liqu as the Supreme Demonic Slime Lord
@Ruiso It's going to get explained later, but there is a difference between energetic mass, which Liqu can move freely and not energetic mass, which she leaves behind like a snail trail. Both comes down to magic or more an universal life force. Even warriors have magical energy, what may make them stronger, but can't use it like mages. (And since it's stored in the cells these explode when they would get overloaded, so no superstrength)
In fact all living things contain this energy, what makes monsters, which base on that, seek them out to consume them. Even plants, but beings more, what explains why slimes look for them. (Even bacteria work)
Monsters have at most an affinity which represents what they are. (dragon= fire, Kirin= thunder), so no magical slime girl Liqu, since she is already using this energy for her body.
@expentio but Shari was turned into a slime not born one. Like Slimes= Water, like controlling the density and purity of their Slime is treated as water magic, the Slime shot could be called Aqua shot or something, that Liqu discovered unintentionally through trial and error and thus uses magic.
Maybe later Shari and Liqu can get more experiments with their slimes, like maybe make their slime highly corrosive and then evaporate it to bassically nuke an area of enemies, dissolving their innards for easier hunting. Maybe consume a lot of herbs to make cocktails of poisons and medicine to alter the battlefield in their favor with chemical warfare.
Will they get a true human form like the one from Overlord, one of the best maids ever in anime isekai history.
@Ruiso No true human form and highly bound to what they have. The magic here isn't convenient and very basic. (Did I mention that I really don't like Rimuru, that super Mary Sue?)
Their magic is more that they can use their bodies. That's basically the "affinity" monsters have.
@expentio Rimuru is one of the best Slime Girls in my oppinion, though he doesn't act like a slime most of the time, Suu still number one by far though. Though I don't know anymore cute slimes in anime...
@expentio
i think it's the opposite. she's kind.
she forgive adventurers who is basically slime killers. thinks what is the best way to talk to shari about transformation.
she acts cruel because only reference point to base her action of is herself. a formless immortal being. for her to capable of interprete how human body feel and ask out is miracle enough.
at least that's how i think.
her craving for companionship is normal to social animals. humans included. she endured for 10 years and then it exploded into do or despair.
@expentio If slimes have water magic, can they also use human water magic (possibly costing them magic or a slime mass equivalent to cast it). If human and slimes are both intelligent and have a water element is there a differency between them that prevents slimes from casting human magic?
@manno As it's said, it's more their personal body magic. Like you wouldn't expect a dragon to throw fireballs but spew it from their throats. Slimes can create mass by dissolving and to a small degree Liqu can basically overcome gravity. Otherwise, her arms would plop to the ground.
@expentio violent sociopath? yes. but, she has had zero friendly communications with other sapients and has no idea how emotions are conveyed and would have no knowledge to tell her that she was torturing Shari. she's a lonely slime doing her best, just wants a friend.
