Daily Log of Eric Harxeau: The everyday life of a noble.
{Day 1- The day that I was informed of my fathers death.}

Today was perhaps the worst day of my life thus far.

Not only was I informed of my father's death in some freak accident, and shown the near unrecognizable mass of flesh, but also that man was able to so easily convince my mother to accept him as the new head of the household.

That peasant! Has my mother lost her mind in grief over my father, or perhaps she holds no grief at all and is only concerned about what is going to happen to her from now on?

Either way, she should not have so quickly accepted that man's proposal... what a disaster.

I understand that my father was not exactly an upstanding man, but he was still my father-the man who raised me- and it tears me apart to think that I will never see him alive again.

And to think- that man is so overconfident in himself as to completely write me off as nothing more than a kid! I will make him pay for humiliating me like this. I will show him that he has no place in our noble house, and that he can go back to the peasantry where he came from.

{Day 2- The day that man moved into our noble home.}

Today that man moved into our home.

What nerve he has! While he had the soldiers of the king bring in all types of furniture and personal belongings, he did not go through the effort as to bring a bed! He expects to be sleeping in the same room with my mother after only a day since becoming the head of the household!?! Who does this man think he is!?

Not only this, but my mother did not so much as say a word! She simply sat back and accepted things as they were, and even seemed a little happy that this man was moving in!

How could she be so happy when my father- the father of her children- is dead!?!

Without a doubt this man has used some underhanded trick to deceive my mother. Of that I am certain. Ridiculous!

{Day 3- My new life with my 'stepfather' as the head of the house}

This man is getting on my nerves with everything he does.

At the dinner table, when I started to eat, he slapped the fork out of my hand.

"Don't you think it is rude to begin eating before your mother has sat down?", he said with a disgusting smile on his face as if he had done something right.

I obtained a new fork and gave him a glare, and my mother then reproached me!

"Don't give your new father such a horrible look Eric. Honey, I'm so sorry about his behavior! I will do something about it."

"Oh, do not worry about it, DARLING. It is the role of the father to perform discipline on the children, which he clearly lacks. I will pick up on the slack from where his neglecting father left off."

That man had said this with emphasis on the 'darling', mocking me and showing that his relationship with his mother was already on the level of calling each other pet names! And on top of that, he dares to insult my father in this household!?! If he didn't hold such a high position due to being the indeterminant I would have him sent to prison and beheaded for his behavior.

Things were getting out of hand.

When I began eating then, my mother grabbed my hand to stop me.

"Where are your manners!? You need to thank the kind man who put this food on the table for you!"

At this, I put down my fork, and left the table, taking off the napkin from my shirt.

I would rather starve than give thanks to that man.

{Day 4- More trouble}

I spend all day today inside studying, however that man came into my room at midday to interrupt me.

"Oi. Little shit. I think it's time to teach you who the boss is in this household."

The man took off his belt and began clapping it in his hands.

I won't tolerate this!

I will not allow a man other than my father to beat me! I have to fight back!

I got up from my seat quickly to avoid this man and prevent him from beating me, but when I did so he lashed me across the face.

"Why you! I am a noble! Presentation is everything! What would you do if I were to go out with bruises on my face!?"

"Oh? What bruises"

[\undo]

"I don't see anything."

I couldn't understood what had happened. The pain was still there, but looking at myself in the mirror, the bruise mark was gone.

"What?! How could that have not left a bruise!?"

I touched my face, and sure enough there was a stinging when my hand reached the spot I was hit, but there was no visible wound.

The man then whipped me multiple more times.

He whipped me as I used my arms to cover myself, but he kept on whipping me. He was enjoying himself too much. He missed at one point and broke an expensive vase that was on display.

"That was an expensive family heirloom! How are you going to pay for destroying that!?"

The man stroked his chin while smiling, as if considering his options.

"Well... there's always the option of making it so that it didn't happen... but there is a better alternative here..."

What was he talking about?

This man often said things that didn't make any sense.

The man left the room quietly. I looked once again at myself in the mirror. My arms and face were extremely sore from the beatings, however my body was completely spotless and devoid of imperfections.

My mother then burst into the room.

"ERIC!? HOW COULD YOU HAVE THROWN THAT VASE AT YOUR NEW FATHER!?!"

"What!?"

Oscar entered the room, with cuts on his arm and shards of glass stuck into his wounds. I looked over to the vase to see blood dripping from some of the shards,

How can this be?!

What was going on?! Am I hallucinating!?

"You are not to eat for 3 days, and you will be locked up here in your room to study while you think about what you've done! Unbelievable! To think that the death of your father has turned you into a complete mess!"

His mother then turned to Oscar and started taking a look at his wounds.

"I can't believe my son has done this to you... I'm so sorry darling... I cannot believe him... I will make sure he is better disciplined..."

"Do not worry about it. It is my fault for lacking the traits needed to be a good father to him."

"What are you saying after being so kind and forgiving to him!?"

My mother then slammed the door while giving me an evil eye.

----

Oscar laughed to himself as he saw the torment in the eyes of Eric, his new 'son'.

He had played the scene perfectly.

He had twisted the mother around his fingers and played her like a puppet, and used her in order to further throw the son into despair.

Eric was a toy to Oscar, and a funny little one at that.

However, the time for playing with toys was over.

It was time to get down to business.

Oscar had an experiment he wanted to run and he needed the little shit out of the way before he could try anything. He couldn't have anyone snooping around, after all.

After having his wounds patched up by the woman, he headed down to the basement, which doubled as a morgue. It was an underground crypt where all members of the family line were buried.

"I wish to visit the grave of your ex husband. Perhaps I will gain some inspiration on how to raise that poor child,"

"I see... how thoughtful you are, honey. I will do my best as well to encourage him to cease this needless behavior."

With the annoying woman out of the way, Oscar now headed down to the crypt alone. She wasn't bad when it came to looks, but she was so clingy and dependent on him that it was a bit suffocating. Even so, he didn't exactly mind that type. The clingy and dependent ones were the ones who he could get away with anything, and they would come back running to him even if he made a mistake or two.

There was a large iron door at the bottom of the fancy stairway that looked like the entrance to the underworld. In reality, it was the entrance to the family crypt.

After opening the door with one of the household keys, Oscar entered the crypt. The smell of the dead entered the house as Oscar opened the door, however it was not until going down a few stories of stone stairs that he reached where the bodies were stored.

There were many black coffins, laid side by side in the crypt, and Oscar looked at them carefully before discovering the one of Lancelot Harxeau.

[\Open Coffin]

The coffin was immediately opened. There was no action of it being opened, it literally was a single frame animation from closed to opened because Oscar's ability was not to make things happen, but to make that which was previously determined to be true as no longer determined to be true. This was the true nature of the indeterminant. He would make it so that reality itself was indeterminant... that there was not one right answer, but infinitely many which could be the case.

Inside, Oscar saw the decaying electrified corpse of Lancelot Harxeau. He could smell the horrid stench, but he ignored it as he typed another command.

[\Resurrect Lancelot Harxeau]

The corpse, which was rotting and horrifying, suddenly opened its eyes.

"Hoho? It seems I even have the ability to control whether people are living or dead."

Oscar grinned deviously.

Lancelot Harxeau sat up quickly, and tried to speak and scream but it only came out as a low mumbling as his vocal cords had begun rotting.

"You. Be quiet."

[\kill Lancelot Harxeau]

The body instantly lost its vitality and fell down back in place.

And with that, Oscar had finished his job here.

[\close coffin]

"Now then... I think it's about time we go and see those sons of the king. I need to find which one of them is the hero so that I can continue to exert influence over the people of this country."
