At night Ray and Marshal parted with Rozalia on the roof, she told Ray that she'll take him to the soonest party held by the high demons across the forests and he should meet the old man friends there. Ray looked for that day forward.

At the same night, he received a download link from Saimer and downloaded the famous game 'Find The Devil'

Ray installed the game, entered, typed his name, age, and other personal information. He then got a notification.

'A devil is in the sitting room, take a picture of it'

Ray left his bed, gently jogged down and in the empty sitting-room. he turned on his phone’s camera and scanned the room, at the corner the camera caught a small ball jumping with two long ears on its surface.

He snapped a picture and the screen turned white.

Slowly words appeared letter by letter.

'Congrats! You have hunted your first devil and leveled up!

While it's only five points, you should reward yourself with a glass of blood!'

And then the words disappeared and other words appeared along with the picture of the devil he had just hunted.

'PanPoga is a D-Class devil, it's spherical in shape and has a very sensitive pair of ears. If you move in your room a lot, he will come and play along.'

The words then disappeared and in a few seconds other words appeared:

'your next chance to catch a devil will be in an hour. If you want to hunt a devil right now you should pay with MUCKs, if you don't have MUCKs, use your card to buy from the following link.'

Reading this, Ray was put off. He called Saimer and was told the other ways to get MUCKs.

"You can get them by sending referral links to other people or post the link to your social media. you can also get them by signing in every day. And you can ask other players to send you free MUCKs. I'm sending you twenty now, use them wisely."

Ray then referred the game to whoever he had on his phone and posted it in his Typebook's timeline.

He collected about 300 MUCKs.

He rubbed his hands twice, turned on the location icon, and touched the find another devil button.

"Click,"

A message appeared on the screen,

'Look under your bed'

Ray turned the camera on, looked under his bed, and snapped a picture of a yellow two-tailed fox.

'Parongi is a noble fox. During the summer Parongi likes to hide under beds to gain as much cool air as it could. Parongi is a C-Class devil and hunting it gets you 10 points. Don't forget to reward yourself with some fresh hunted bugs!'

Ray stared at the fox picture, it looked really like a demon he might pump into on the streets. He looked at his balance, it was 280 MUCKs. Every searching attempt drained him twenty MUCKs, that wasn't cheap, but he had a lot of MUCKs.

He touched the search button again and in a few seconds a map popped up: 'Hurry! your first B-Class Devil is in Zumrat Park, twenty minutes away!'

Ray looked at the time on his phone, it was eleven in the night. He shouldn't go out just to look for illusional devils. The old man might get pissed after all.

He put his phone on the charger and lied down. Today was a great day for him, he played a lot and had lots of fun with his parents…

Life is great…

But as soon as he thought that, a picture of little girl's dead body along with her shitty father flashed. Ray sighed, and thanked God for his current life, besides his dad, in this warm and beautiful house.

Ray closed his eyes and fell asleep…

….

….

…..

……

"TOOT TOOT TOOT TOOT..."

His phone rang.

Ray opened his tired eyes, pulled the phone in front of his face, and unlocked it.

'Your prey have just got hunted by DemonSlayerMonk. DemonSlayerMonk gained 100 points while you got a penalty for ignoring your prey. 100 points of your balance is cut.'

What! hundred! that's unfair.

He had just slept for a moment and his prey was taken. Even if he hadn't slept he would have lost because the opponent was near the-

However, those thoughts disappeared as he noticed the time on his phone, it was 1:23 A.M.

Who was wandering this late!

He tapped on the profile picture of DemonSlayerMonk, and found out he was a 13 years old boy…

After a few seconds of flexing his eyes puzzled, Ray chose to sleep again.

On the first day after downloading the game, Ray wandered across the city with Saimer. In Zumrat park he caught his first B-Class devil and gained 70 points, his level reached four and he was satisfied by the compliments Saimer poured on him.

"You got some talent in the game."

"Now let's go and study," said Ray making Saimer frown, "why! we are having fun."

"We can have it after finishing Sheria's history."

Saimer stared at Ray for a few seconds, his fixed eyes trying to shake the determination Ray had. After a few seconds, however, he gave in to the truth that he needed to study as well.

"Fine, there's no one in my house so let's study there," Said Saimer putting his phone back in his pocket.

On their way, Ray asked why his house had no one in.

"That's because..."

It seemed that Saimer and his older sister were orphans just like him. His sister began working part-time jobs before turning eighteen and when she became an adult and lost her right to stay on the orphanage she rented a little flat in a broken-down building, he was eight years old at the time so he had to spend his childhood alone in that flat while his sister gave up her high school and worked many jobs to save enough money for his good life. Saimer's phone was pretty good and expensive and it was a gift from his sister.

"But now, our lives are completely different, we own a house and all of the furniture is high class. Life has become so easy," said Samir, but when Ray asked him how had he and his sister reach that level Saimer scraped his head cluelessly.

Saimer didn't know what his sister’s job or jobs were. He just wished to spend the time with her, she usually came back late after midnight and sometimes spent the night out, it was a really mysterious job.

At Saimer house Ray inspected the sitting room. It was clean, the furniture was modern, the table was black, the couches grey and the black smart TV had all the channels unlocked.

In a few minutes, Saimer came with the soft drinks and the chips, some cookies, and chocolate bars as well.

And the study session started.

Saimer wasn't a slow learner, he was the opposite. Teaching him was easy and sometimes he would mention points even Ray hadn't noticed. If Ray was to think of the reason behind Saimer's bad grades he would eventually reach the conclusion that his games and lark were the reason.

At night they finished studying, it was nine and Saimer's sister had yet to come back.

Ray returned to his house and after having a filling dinner with his old man a notification reached his phone, he unlocked it.

'You didn't catch many devils today. How about hunting the dark devils that lurk in the alleys of the nights?'

The game was inviting him in.

Ray chose to ignore it and talk a little with his old man.

………..

The second day wasn't any new either, he spent the morning at school and the noon at the city hunting some devils with Saimer. The night was with Emily who was abnormally good at the subject. And late at night, he spent an hour or two with his old man staring at the sky from their backyard doorstep, where a small green garden resided. Life was good, it was beautiful, the city was peaceful as well, although he knew that some bad people from both races were doing their bad doings behind the scene, he felt that nothing was as important as the moments he was living…

Ray knew that he shouldn't think that way, he knew that he was lacking as a guardian for the old man country, he knew that he was so decisive when it came to this matter… But a small fraction in him thought it didn't matter.

However, Ray didn't know that on the fourth day of Rozalia's travel, the old man would say such a thing. Ray couldn't even understand it.

Because what the old man had said was, "You don't need to follow my dreams, humans should side with humans after all."

Ray had to process those words, had to say something in return, but his blank mind felt misery. His eyes were on the verge of sobbing, but his heart kept on holding those tears inside his body.

Was he just discarded? Had he just made the old man disappointed?

It was Crake, for sure it was him, he never told the old man about a thing after all. Why had Crake said such a thing to his dad???

That wasn't the problem at the moment. He had to answer, had to say something to at least defend himself.

"Da-"

However, before he could voice his words, a call came into the old man, the old man took his phone out and with a gentle smile answered the call.

"We missed you," the old man said and Ray heard him clearly, but Ray didn't hear the words that came from the other side.

"We are sorry Lord Marshal, we couldn't save her. Lord Rozalia… was killed."

Was the chapter enjoyable?

Sorry for the delayed updates. Actually, I was having COVID symptoms for a week now and today I went to get tested. What I mean is that it's getting really hard to write with such symptoms.

Anyway, Don't forget to Favorite, and add the story to your library.
