Sheng Wenyin released her grip on the door frame.
She straightened her posture, smoothed her clothes, and walked through Qi Si and the onlookers with an air of tranquility. Crossing the threshold into the soft, pastel-hued room, she smiled and remarked, "This room does feel cozy. Oh, I see my luggage has been unpacked too. Great, I’ll stay here then."

Qi Si averted his gaze, his eyes betraying a flicker of amusement.

Behind them, Cheng Jiang stood dumbfounded, muttering under his breath, "A strategic retreat… Qi, you're on another level."

Qi Si cast a calm glance at him, silencing any further comments.

The others explored the room briefly before leaving. As they departed, Sheng Wenyin didn't forget to remind Song Shu, "Remember to make up for my gift."

Song Shu gritted her teeth and stomped downstairs without a word.

Sheng Wenyin then turned to Tong Shi, only to find her staring back, eyes filled with sorrow and grievance as though she had been deeply wronged. Sheng Wenyin sighed helplessly and said, "Looking at me like that won’t help. What can I do?"

Tong Shi pouted, her voice trembling with frustration, "I’m about to cry from the abuse here!"

Sheng Wenyin consoled her, "Don’t worry. I’ll be divorced in half a month."

Tong Shi: …
Qi Si: …

Qi Si turned to Sheng Wenyin, his dark eyes narrowing. "What did you just say?" he asked in a low voice.

Sensing danger, Tong Shi quickly shrank back and scurried off with small, hurried steps.

Sheng Wenyin called after her, but it was too late. Watching her flee, a sense of unease crept over Sheng Wenyin. She glanced at Qi Si beside her and realized his expression had darkened to the point where it seemed ink might drip from his face.

Scratching her cheek, Sheng Wenyin stammered defensively, "W-what? Am I wrong? The program only lasts half a month…"

Before she finished speaking, she couldn’t bear to meet Qi Si’s gaze. She carefully sidestepped along the wall, keeping the maximum distance between them, and slipped past him. Once she reached the stairs, she bolted downstairs without looking back.

Reaching the kitchen, Sheng Wenyin ducked behind the counter, sneaking glances at the staircase.

After a while, Qi Si appeared. His expression was calm, as if nothing had happened. Sheng Wenyin breathed a sigh of relief.

Noticing the time, she decided to cook something delicious to smooth things over. But when she opened the fridge, she found it empty.

Turning back, she asked, "Qi Si, it seems we need to cook for ourselves. Should we go grocery shopping?"

The man was sitting on the sofa, engrossed in his phone, and didn’t respond.

Puzzled, Sheng Wenyin leaned on the window frame, peeking out through the open kitchen window. She called softly, "Qi Si?"

Still, he didn’t reply.

Frowning, she scratched her neck and cautiously approached, sitting on the sofa a small distance away.

Spotting the remote on the coffee table, she hesitated before asking tentatively, "Qi Si, do you want to watch TV?"

He remained silent, his eyes never leaving his phone.

Uncertain how to handle the situation, Sheng Wenyin began to question herself. Was her mention of divorce too much? But wasn’t this just a show? They were only here to work—it was purely professional, wasn’t it?

She grabbed the remote and flipped through channels. Suddenly, she spotted Qi Si’s face on a movie channel. Surprised, she exclaimed, "Hey, Qi Si! It’s your movie—"

Before she could finish, Song Shu’s face appeared on the screen.

Sheng Wenyin froze.

They were airing The Old Alley.

Without hesitation, she changed the channel.

However, Qi Si finally looked up, his voice calm. "Just watch the one from earlier."

Stunned, Sheng Wenyin watched as Qi Si leaned over, took the remote from her, and switched it back.

On the screen, Qi Si’s character was now embracing Song Shu’s character.

Sheng Wenyin: …

Taking a deep breath, she reached for the remote.

Qi Si leaned back, moving it out of her reach.

Annoyed, Sheng Wenyin stood up, bent over, and tried to grab it again. But each time, Qi Si’s agile movements left her empty-handed.

Frustrated, she climbed onto the sofa, one knee pressing on Qi Si’s shoulder as she reached for the remote. "Give it to me!"

Qi Si slid the remote behind his back and caught her hands with his own.

"Qi Si, stop being so childish!" Sheng Wenyin snapped, breaking free and throwing herself against him, her arms reaching around his back.

At that moment, a knock sounded at the door.

Before either could react, the partially closed door swung open. Hua Zishu and Cheng Jiang entered, each carrying a basket of fruit.

"Sheng, your—" The words died on their lips.

Both men froze, their eyes widening as they took in the scene: Sheng Wenyin and Qi Si entangled on the sofa, arms wrapped around each other.

Qi Si, unfazed, supported Sheng Wenyin’s waist and sighed. "See? I told you someone would come."

Sheng Wenyin: …

Hua Zishu and Cheng Jiang: …

The two men awkwardly set the fruit baskets by the door and stammered, "Uh, w-we’ll just leave these here. Goodbye!"

With that, they shut the door and fled.

Sheng Wenyin: …

After the door closed, Sheng Wenyin glared at Qi Si, grabbed the fruit baskets, and placed them on the coffee table. "Give me the remote!"

Qi Si replied calmly, "Give me a reason."

"I don’t want to watch it!" she insisted.

"I do," Qi Si countered.

That was it. Sheng Wenyin couldn’t hold back anymore. She stormed over, straddled Qi Si’s lap, wrapped her arms around his waist, and grabbed the remote.

Surprisingly, Qi Si didn’t resist this time. She got the remote with ease, blinking in surprise.

Qi Si’s expression had softened. With one hand still on her waist, he gently brushed back her disheveled hair.

In a tender tone, he said, "See? There are things you don’t want to watch. So, in the future, don’t say things I don’t want to hear, okay?"
