“As a member of the student cabinet, I would like to extend my welcome and congratulations…” My mind automatically churned its cogs, citing a generic welcoming speech.
Today, the nation saw its 13th class of students enter the National Supernatural Academy- the primary setting of the first arc in the game.
Naturally, Charlotte was responsible for the welcome speech as an important character in both the game and the world.
Over the past few months, I’ve adapted to the life of Charlotte without any major issues. At least, nobody has questioned me yet about any strange behaviours. As a veteran with over 500 hours, this wasn’t too hard to achieve.
Charlotte’s character was simple. Prideful and cold. It didn’t take too much aside from controlling my expression to turn into a book-perfect kuudere. However, beyond the issue of playing the role of Charlotte, there was something more pressing.
[Are you all giddy and excited?]
I ignored the voice and scanned the crowd for an average-looking black-haired teenager amongst the students. The criteria might be quite vague, but what distinguished this individual was his aura as the destined saviour of the world.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long to find out there was indeed someone who had an otherworldly attraction to them. Normal people wouldn’t be able to sense it, but as a ‘heroine’ dubbed by the voice, I had a keener sense for it.
With a slightly narrowed gaze, I watched as the protagonist, Kim Si-woo, played with a pen with a bored expression.
I concluded my speech, which marked the end of the orientation and the start of classes for students. With the protagonist’s existence confirmed, I needed a solid method to approach the protagonist.
[Why don’t you greet him immediately with a kiss? It’ll build favourability immediately!]
The voice perked up again as I sat back down for the conclusion of the orientation.
“...I’d rather not.”
If I wanted to be arrested for sexual assault, then I might as well go with that plan. Not to mention, I’ve figured out a small fine print with the system.
I needed the protagonist’s trust first and foremost. This meant I didn’t need to seduce him as a heroine. I didn’t like the idea of getting with him, it felt strangely perturbing to get with a guy to begin with. Therefore, being a reliable ally should be sufficient.
I intended to raise the protagonist in a platonic master-disciple relationship, where I could set him up to clear the game efficiently as I had in my 500 hours.
However, there was one major obstacle to my plans.
The protagonist started off as a naive transmigrator, endlessly confessing to every beautiful girl without developing his power due to a sense of assurance that the world revolved around him, but also a disassociation with reality. That was partially why the original Charlotte had been so vexed, having the academy’s loser take her spotlight after a few months of work compared to her life’s dedication.
Now that the game has become reality, I no longer had restrictions, which meant that I could prepare the protagonist more sufficiently than in the actual game with 3 extra months on hand.
There was a butterfly effect to be considered with my transmigration. However, I wanted to not only live but bask in the sunlight of glory. I was confident in manipulating the protagonist towards victory if I prepared him beforehand.
I pictured it. The famed hero and his grand teacher, who trailblazed a path for humanity in its most dire time. It was perfect.
I needed a good first impression to put myself into a position that could straighten up the protagonist immediately, without being too out of character.
[Boooo! Boring~ I still think a French kiss greeting would be better]
Sometimes, I wished a mute button existed.
As I watched the mass of students move to their homerooms, I spotted Kim Si-woo chatting with his childhood friend, Ma Dong-seok. I had a plan to approach him after school since I knew where his dorm was.
“Charlotte, that was an amazing speech!” A voice interrupted my thoughts as I walked away from the auditorium where the orientation was held. It was a curly blond-haired person that didn’t appear in the original game.
Although I was initially reluctant to interact with the creatures of this world due to the butterfly, their uncanny realism eventually led me to develop a few relationships over time. I’ve also come to realise that it was better to pave an independent future, with some tips and pointers from my game knowledge.
“Corporal Mikhail, aren’t you supposed to assist with first years today?” I tilted my head at his appearance. Mikhail Talulah, a fellow member of the school’s student authority, the student cabinet.
“Ehehe, I got bored~” Mikhail gleefully rubbed his fluffy hair.
“Your conduct will result in disciplinary action for dereliction of duty. Your tie is all messed up too, how did you even obtain the rank of Corporal?” I monotonously noted as I moved to fix his tie.
If I had to describe him, it would be a klutz golden retriever. He always caused trouble, yet remained highly competent in combat and theory. We developed a good relationship after a few expeditions to hunt monsters.
[Hey, no cheating on the protagonist!]
Platonic relationship! I’m not cheating on Kim Si-woo!
[So you admit that getting into a relationship with another man is cheating on Si-woo?]
Wait, no! I’m not even dating him in the first place, and I don’t plan on dating anyone!
“Are you alright?” Mikhail’s blue eyes narrowed as I realised I was still holding his tie for a while.
“Nothing. Move on your way now, Corporal!” I saluted Mikhail.
“Thanks Lotte, bye!” After a moment of silence, Mikhail casually turned around with a small wave and disappeared into the air.
This was the reality of the so-called military academy filled with teenagers. The world has experienced such a long era of peace that the school slowly diverted from its original purpose.
According to the game, monsters only appeared a handful of times every month. There was an oversupply of manpower, which was diverted toward more traditional human conflicts for territory, wealth, and power.
As much as I didn’t like it, Si-woo wasn’t the only one that needed to change. The world needed to change if it wanted to survive in the next few years. Hopefully, it would occur before the apocalypse arrived, where the gates of hell slowly overwhelmed unsuspecting nations.
[You also need to change your attitude, nobody likes a mean girl…]
Silence.
Noob world! Another siwoo!!!! What a parody!
Si-woo curse never ends!
So she's kinda like a tsundare type character?
why are there normal names and weird Asian sounding names mixed in the story?
more than 1 nationality exist in this world
The voice needs a mute button, or maybe the ability to adjust its volume settings?
Hohoho this is fun, it's different with the same trope.
