At 4 pm, the bell rang to signal the end of the first day with the dismissal of each class in homeroom formation. As a boarding school, everyone naturally headed towards the dorms to end the day.

I also made my way towards the dorms, but rather than the female dorm, it was the male one that was my destination.

[I can’t believe you’re such a pervert…]

???

I was just trying to meet the protag-

[Kyaa, a secret meeting of lovers in the middle of the night… Truly romantic, Juliet!]

Stop twisting my words, you damned disembodied voice!

[Just a voice? Is that all I’m to you? After everything we’ve been through together… sob]

I clicked my tongue and continued to ignore the thing in my head, focusing on the dorm rooms in front of me. If I remembered correctly, it was room 446.

I approached the tall wooden door with three prompt knocks. After some shuffling inside, the door revealed his childhood friend with Kim Si-woo in the background playing games.

“A third-year student? Are we in trouble?” Ma Dong-seok, a slightly plump but friendly character, was the one to greet me with a suspicious gaze.

“Where is Private Kim Si-woo?” I asked, which prompted Ma Dong-seok to salute me with a poker face.

“I have no idea, ma’am!”

“I know he’s in there,” I added. He probably thought that I was here for disciplinary purposes.

“U-um, please give me a moment…” He retreated back into the dorm room, where I heard some faint murmurs.

“It’s serious… old fashioned… very beautiful…”

“Are you… however…”

After a while of waiting, the plain black-haired boy I was anticipating to meet all day appeared before me.

“Private Kim Si-woo?” I asked, despite already knowing it was him.

[Such a cold tone, you should seek a speech therapist...]

No, I needed to maintain discipline as a superior officer!

[Nobody takes that system seriously right now]

That's precisely why I needed to set an example.

“Yes, are you here to ask me out on a date?” Kim Si-woo joked, refocusing my attention back to reality.

“No, I’m-” I paused as power suddenly drained from my body.

[By the way, I forgot to mention this, your power capacity decreases if you lose his trust]

You should’ve told me that earlier! Although he acted like an idiot, Kim Si-woo was surprisingly intuitive and intelligent, so it was only natural that he was suspicious and distrustful of me.

“I’m…?” Kim Si-woo replied as he narrowed his eyes at me, “you’re definitely an S-grade beauty. I accept your confession!”

“I wasn’t confessing to you,” I coldly replied before conjuring up an ice spear.

“You have talent. Let’s spar,” I directly challenged. They say that individuals bond more after life-and-death situations, so I just needed to beat him up a few times.

[I feel like you’re misconstruing the original intentions of that quote…]

“This is my first day, so how do you know if I’m talented or not?” Being one of the few times the protagonist utilised his brain above, I paused for a moment. It wasn’t like me to be so direct, but I suppose I was a little too excited after months of waiting.

[It’s only natural to be excited to meet your fated one~]

Shut it.

“I know that you are different from the others,” I recalled the most stereotypical excuse I could’ve thought of. He had the hero aura after all, so it made sense.

[Oh no… his trust is decreasing rapidly!]

“Who are you?” Uncharacteristically serious, the protagonist asked in a deeper tone than before. Unfortunately, I stepped on a landmine as I felt even more power get drained.

[As a transmigrator, he is very protective of his identity. Be careful!]

With useful insight for once from the voice, my head began to strategise.

“I’m Second Lieutenant and member of the student cabinet, Charlotte Invidia.” I decided to utilise my status as a reasonable excuse. Luckily, I had backup support.

“Charlotte Invidia?! Aren’t you the third-year legendary student- the once-in-a-century genius?!” Ma Dong-seok perked up from behind the door, which gave credit to my words.

It was only natural for powerful individuals to sense differences between people- the perfect excuse. Now, I can refocus on my plan to spar with the protagonist.

“I see… Well, I’m sorry, but I’ll have to decline. I need some much-needed beauty rest after today, but if you want my number, I wouldn’t mind a one-night stand with you.” Kim Si-woo relaxed slightly to a less serious tone as he handed me a paper slip with his phone number, though his eyes maintained some vigilance.

I narrowed my red eyes to meet his dark brown ones. Those mischievous pupils made me feel like I could burst into flames at any moment.

“Hm? Oh, I wouldn’t mind a serious relationship with you either. Let’s go on a date after school tomorrow!” Kim Si-woo added after he noticed my glare.

I’ve only made losses today. It was unacceptable. That’s right, I needed to be more direct.

"You're not very talkative..." Kim Si-woo poked my cheeks as if inspecting a piece of cargo.

“I think you’ve gone too far, Si-woo,” Ma Dong-seok noticed the rapidly decreasing temperature.

I instinctively grabbed the protagonist by his collar and dragged him into a nearby training field. It was an enclosed facility with reinforced materials from beyond the gates of hell that allowed students to rampage without worry.

Of course, there were precautions with constant teacher supervision, but students were free to spar with each other as long as it didn’t escalate too far. Not to mention, you needed clearance from either a teacher or a member of the student cabinet, which I am one.

“Woah, woah, woah!” Kim Si-woo exclaimed as I threw him onto the white tiled floor.

I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of bizarre anger at his dismissive attitude.

I needed to bond with him through our weapons and fix him.

I wanted it for the sake of a greater future.

[Popcorn ready]

I grabbed a nearby training sword and chucked it at his feet. Despite my rough attitude that would've annoyed most people, the protagonist showed a small smile.

“Feisty. If you want to fight so much, how about a bet?” The protagonist asked as he picked up the sword.

“Since I’m only a first year, if I manage to touch you with my sword, you join me on a date tomorrow. Caprice?” In response to his provocative words, I gave a slight nod as I readied my spear.

“If I win, you listen to me for the rest of the semester,” I replied monotonously.

It was an unexpected benefit. Although overshadowed by the protagonist later on, I remained one of the most powerful individuals in the academy at the start of the game.

“Haha, alright deal!” Inspired by the bet, the protagonist entered a decent sword stance. Although he was incompetent, he wasn’t an utter failure since he still made it into this institution.

My crimson eyes changed. It burnt a glorious brilliance that drew in the attention of those nearby.

It wasn't a smooth first meeting, but it was the set-up I needed for the perfect future.

[-married to Kim Si-woo with 3 kids]

Burn.
