Their adopted daughter and the second son have the same blood type and are similar in age, so he became a potential target as a heart donor. After bringing him home, he was killed at the hands of an unlicensed doctor.
After looking through all of it, Amphorn couldn’t help but feel sorry for the original owner of this body. Amphorn looked around the room and made his survival plan.
He stole some bread, hid in his room, and packed one set of clothes and some water. He was ready to run away, so he waited for the night.
The original owner of this body often stayed in his room without going outside, so nobody found his behaviour strange. As for where he would go, he decided to figure that out later.
When night came, Amphorn ran away as planned. As for the people in the orphanage, he had already forgotten about them. He didn’t know the way, so he asked around and travelled for a whole day before he arrived at his destination.
The place he decided to stay was a Buddhist temple because, based on what he heard, it was a place where he could stay for the moment.
Amphorn stood outside the temple and looked around, watching people coming and going in the morning. Suddenly, a middle-aged monk came from the temple and said,
“Young man, you have been standing there for a while now. Is there anything I can help you with?”
Amphorn first greeted the monk and frankly said, “I need a place to rest, just for three months. I can help you with physical labour if you want. Is that acceptable?”
The monk looked at his young face and skinny body and said, “I need to ask the head of the temple about it. How about you wait here?” After that, he left, leaving Amphorn alone.
Grumble
Amphorn was hungry, but he just stood there without moving. Hunger had become a habit as he travelled the world.
He was always in the worst circumstances, ready to die at any moment, so for him, hunger was not a serious problem. Humans can survive without food for up to five to seven days, so he can manage somehow.
After a while, the monk came back and called Amphorn inside, leading him to an old monk who sat on a chair near the pond, and then the monk left.
Amphorn stood silently and stared at the old monk, and the monk also looked at Amphorn. After a while, the monk said, “Your eyes carry a weight that doesn’t fit a child.”
Amphorn smiled and said, “Age doesn’t matter when it comes to life experiences, old man.”
The old monk glanced at his eyes and said, “Your eyes are filled with exhaustion and killing intent; you seem like you are on a life-and-death battlefield.”
Amphorn looked at the old monk in a new light; he seemed to be able to read Amphorn quite well. He then said,
“You are right, old man. I’m fighting, and I want to end it as soon as possible. But I can’t. I don’t have the power to stop the fight.”
The old monk smiled “You will find your path soon. Until then, you can stay here. You can help around if you want.” He then left.
Amphorn stared at his retreating figure and thought, ‘I also want to find out everything, old man. I hope your words come true.’
Just like that, Amphorn started to live in the temple for two months, helping everyone. At the very least, he had some time to think and improve his skinny body.
One day, when Amphorn was sweeping the floor, he suddenly felt a familiar feeling. He was tired of this feeling, but today it was more intense than before. His chest didn’t hurt like before, as he didn’t have any soul energy in him, but the feeling was there.
Amphorn looked around and didn’t find anything suspicious, so he continued his work.
“That Adam bastard must have cursed me; that’s why I’m feeling like this. I wanted to kill him with my own hands, but as time passed, I even started to forget his face.”
Badam badam
The familiar feeling became intense, and he turned around and noticed people coming towards him. They were well-dressed, and he noticed they were led by a middle-aged monk. Soon, they stood in front of Amphorn.
Amphorn recognized who they were as he noticed the similarity between the woman and himself. The woman also looked at him with an intense gaze, as if she were measuring his worth.
Amphorn stared at the couple, then at his cheap brother and sister who wanted to dig out his heart.
What bothered Amphorn was the stranger at the back, whose eyes were particularly sharp as he stared at Amphorn, and Amphorn didn’t like that one bit.
Just as they were having a staring contest, the middle-aged monk began to speak.
“Child, I know you are confused about the situation, so allow me to explain. The people I brought here are your biological parents; they have been looking for you for a long time.
After hearing that you ran away from the orphanage, they sent a lot of people to look for you. Finally, the shop owner on the opposite side of the temple saw you and reported it to them.
So, your family came to get you back after going through the trouble to find you, so you should be nice to them.”
Amphorn said nothing and stared at them.
‘Nice to them? If you knew they wanted to dig my heart out, you wouldn’t say that. No matter how hard I try, it always comes to this. I don’t want to die yet; no matter how many times I experience it, the pain I feel when my soul is torn apart can’t be explained with words alone.
I haven’t become a sociopath or a madman because every time my soul is put back together, my head and memories become clearer, so my thinking has always been within a normal range. Still, I don’t want to die yet, so I’m not leaving here.'
Seeing that Amphorn hadn’t spoken for a long time, Father Lu decided to take the lead and said, “He must have been surprised. We are the ones who came suddenly. How about we all sit and talk things through?”
What could Amphorn say? He followed them inside and sat down. His cheap sister and brother didn’t seem to like him. As for the stranger at the back, he was indifferent and didn’t show anything on his face, but he brought back memories of Adam, and Amphorn didn’t like it.
