Wei looked at Amphorn’s pale face, raised his hand, and knocked him unconscious.
“Wait!” Before even realising it, Amphorn fell asleep. Wei frowned as he realized how light the child in his arms was. He then carried Amphorn in a princess carry, stood on his sword, and flew away.
Wei belongs to the sect called the Dragon Sect, known for their wealth. People in the world know that whatever happens, you can’t touch their juniors.
People from the Dragon Sect are very protective of their youngsters; if something happens to them outside the sect, then you can expect a bloody fight.
The Dragon Sect was located quite far from the mainland, so Wei took some time to reach there. When he arrived, there were already people waiting for him.
Sweep ~
After he landed from the sword, someone who looked to be of a similar age to Wei stared at him and the child in his arms and said, “Did you kidnap him?”
“Haoyu, how can you say that? Do I look like someone who goes around kidnapping children?”
Haoyu looked him up and down and said, “I don’t know; you always go around doing weird things. Anyway, what's up with the child in your arms?”
Wei looked down and glanced at the child in his arms and said, “I picked up this kitten on the way here. He is badly hurt and needs some medical assistance immediately. I'll go put him in bed. Go call the doctor, also, he mentioned he was being chased by people, so ask someone to look into this matter.”
Haoyu looked at him with surprised eyes and said, “You aren't someone who likes to get involved with other businesses like that. Is this child related to you?”
Wei shook his head and said, “Today is the first time I’ve met this child, but I had a feeling I couldn’t leave him like that. Enough with this, go and call a doctor.”
“Sure, sure,” Haoyu simply nodded and left.
Blink blink
Amphorn looked around and realized he was in a different place, and his wounds were treated. He was also wearing different clothes.
Amphorn didn’t get up; he just stared at the ceiling in a daze. He realized he was very weak and didn’t know how to get strong. He couldn’t see any path ahead, and even though he could see the sun outside the window, it felt like he was still trapped in darkness.
‘What should I do now? I always enjoyed being alone, but now I wish someone could tell me what I should do in this situation.’
Sigh~
“So tired. I’m in bed now, but I can’t sleep. This is the worst.”
As Amphorn was in an inner conflict, he noticed someone come into his room. She looked kindly at Amphorn and said,
“You are finally awake. You slept for two days straight. You must be hungry, right? Here, have some cold soup, and we can eat something light later on.”
Amphorn looked at her without saying anything. He didn’t move either. He then turned his head and looked outside the window.
The woman stared at him for a while and left. Amphorn didn’t care either. He was hungry, but he didn’t have the motivation to do anything. He just felt tired.
Slam!
Suddenly, his room door slammed open, and Wei walked in, sat next to his bed, and said, “Bai told me that you refused to eat. You told me the other day that you wanted to eat delicious food, so why refuse?”
Amphorn continuously stared at the window and ignored the person next to the bed.
Wei didn’t get angry and said, “You are the disaster star that the Shadow Sect is searching for, right? I can guess why they are looking for you. Your mother was killed by them, so I understand you may feel sad, but you can’t skip meals.”
Amphorn turned his head and finally gave him a look. Wei was surprised by the look and said, “Don’t look at me like that. I did a background check on you so I can help you, and as I said earlier, I’m very wealthy, so I don’t need to kill you to make a weapon. I already have many in the back of my house.”
Amphorn then turned his head and continued to stare at the window. Wei looked at his thin body covered by bandages and said, “You should eat, or I’ll get angry.”
But his threat didn’t work as Amphorn continued to stare at the window. Wei sighed and rubbed his brows with his fingers.
He had never been so patient with anyone before, but when it came to the child in front of him, he couldn’t bring himself to be angry.
‘He is a young child, but his eyes show he is at his limit. The exhaustion and the alert look in his eyes seem like he sees everything around him as an enemy.
This isn’t good. For a child to have this look on his face, like he wants to rest internally but something is holding him back.’
Master Wei then leaned on his chair and looked outside the window just like Amphorn. He said nothing but just accompanied the wounded child. After some time passed, Amphorn’s stomach made a sound.
Grumble ~
Just when Wei was about to say something, Amphorn started to speak first.
“You know, once upon a time, I could fall asleep instantly when I got into bed. I loved to sleep a lot. But now I’m sitting on the bed, but even if I close my eyes and lie down, I can’t sleep even a wink.
It's exhausting; I want to rest. I don’t know how many times I’ve told myself this sentence.
I think I was an optimistic person hoping to live a happy life just like anybody else in the past. Now all I can see is darkness, and I’ve lost my path in that darkness. I don't know what to do or who to ask.
You see, I have an enemy whom I want to defeat at least once. Just once! But I can’t because I’m so weak and don’t know how to get stronger.
People say don’t give up on your goals but sticking to the goals hurts. All I want to do is run away, but you know the funny part is, even if I want to run away, my enemy won’t leave me alone.
It's so trying. I’m telling you all this because I have nothing to give you and nobody to rely on, so if you want something from me, you can take it without worrying. After you’re done with it, just give me a quick death.”
Amphorn took a deep breath. He had just said everything without holding back because he needed someone to talk to.
