Master Wei then continued his explanation about the continent, major families, and sects. The Dragon Sect, unsurprisingly, ranked at the top. Amphorn listened half-heartedly; he didn’t see any benefits in knowing the history.
Master Wei also noticed his disinterest in history, so he decided to talk about the cultivation practice.
“Li, remember this: cultivation is the way we humans go against heaven. In this long journey, everyone will face dangers that could cost their lives, and many techniques have been developed as well.
There are good and evil methods, but it doesn’t matter what method you use to cultivate; the most important point is karma.
People accumulate karma as they live. It can be good karma or bad karma, depending on how you live, what decisions you make, and how that affects this world. When people die, they won’t take any of their possessions with them, but what they can bring is karma.
The karma points a person can accumulate in their life are uncertain, but after a person’s death, karma can affect that person’s descendants and their life after death.
In simple terms, if you accumulate good karma in your lifetime, after your death, the world will respond to that karma and affect your future generations and your life. For example, you can be born into a good family in this lifetime if you have good karma points from your last life.
Every living being in the world has karma. So that's why it doesn’t matter what kind of cultivation technique you use as long as you can accumulate good karma points.
Of course, many people ignore this and do whatever they want because they believe whatever happens after death doesn’t affect the present time.”
Amphorn felt like he had learned something very important. He thought about Abyss Prison and asked the question:
“Master, is the karma you spoke of stored in a person’s soul?”
Master Wei smiled. “Yes, every person's soul is unique, so the karma they accumulate in their lifetime will be stored in their soul. You’re extremely clever.”
Amphorn finally understood what the Abyss Prison wanted from him.
Amphorn couldn’t help but feel a chill from head to toe, but he knew this wasn’t the time to get excited. “Master, can you please explain more about karma and the soul?”
Wei looked at Amphorn's eyes, which were filled with a desire for knowledge and couldn’t help but be surprised.
He thought it would take some time for his disciple to get used to things given his lazy nature, but he didn’t want to let go of this chance. “Sure! So, listen well…”
Amphorn took all the information Wei shared about souls and karma to heart, and when Wei finished explaining and was about to move on to a different topic, he stopped him. “Master, I’m very interested in this topic. Do you have any books that I can read?”
Wei looked outside and noticed it was already dinner time. He was so excited that he forgot the time. “It's already dinner time. You can go, and I have some books in my space ring if you want.” Wei gave the space ring he had for his disciple, Amphorn.
Amphorn took the ring with a surprised look on his face; he didn’t expect to receive a gift. He then thanked Wei and ran straight to his room. His room was next to his master's residence, so he reached it in no time.
Amphorn took all the books, selected the ones he needed, and started to read right away. Since his soul had become powerful, so his memory had also improved.
“Holy moly, my reading is so fast. It feels like taking a photo or recording in my brain. I need to get this done as quickly as possible so I can be more sure of my final conclusion.”
Amphorn read all the books he needed in a short amount of time and sat on his bed, feeling heavy. The answers made him feel more hopeless.
“OK, let’s get things straight. The main point is that the Abyss Prison used me as a tool to collect karma points, probably good karma.
When I first died in my world, I saved billions of people. I prevented the gate from opening for at least five hundred years, so I saved several billions of people in those five hundred years. If what Master said is true, then when I die, I carry a huge amount of karma points with me.
In Abyss Prison, when my soul was torn apart, I could feel some kind of energy leaving my body. That’s probably my karma. My soul was torn apart so it could absorb all my karma, and when my soul was put together again, I could feel some energy entering my soul, but I have no idea what that was.”
Amphorn got up and walked back and forth in his room. “Every single time I die, I hate to say this, but it was always for a good reason.
That Adam bastard used me thoroughly. The main point is that Master said accumulating good karma is harder than bad karma. Since I die for a good reason, I earn good karma, and that's what Abyss Prison wants.
The first time I died, I don’t know how many years went by, but I stayed in Abyss Prison for a long time, and after that, it was a few years.
According to my reasoning, the more karma my soul accumulates, the longer I have to stay in Abyss Prison and the more pain I have to endure.
So to not stay there longer, I have to stop accumulating good karma. In other words, I have to stop dying because of Adam's schemes. But that is impossible because I can’t stop it!”
Amphorn grabbed his head in frustration. “What the hell am I supposed to do then?! Should I become a madman and start killing people so I can earn bad karma and the Abyss Prison will let me go?”
Suddenly, Amphorn felt a chill run through his body, his instinct warning him not to do those things or he would face more severe consequences.
