“Is it true?”

In a bright room, circular in shape, was the silhouette of a figure made of shadow. He sat with hand clasped together in an arc. Upon his face was a white mask.

To his left and right were other such figures.

“Our informants have confirmed. The Devil violates Baumeister.” A red-masked youth

The grim, hate-filled voice of a fat man in blue rang out. He was a bit older than the others, already in his late teens. “Just as he did our mothers, now he wishes to do the same to our sisters and cousins.”

These words resonated with the rest of his compatriots, leaving sourness in their mouths. Once, the Violet Devil had used despicable means and played with their mothers’ innocent hearts. Those were dark times, threatening to rip their families apart.

None felt this more strongly that the red-masked youth. Lord Avery’s oldest, red mask’s mother had left their family under that boy’s orders. What’s more, he’d even had the audacity to come to their home and beat her father.

The man turned sickly after her mother left, taking her young son along with her, and was left bedridden for many months. Wasting away with haunted eyes.

Word spread everywhere and friends secretly mocked the man for losing his wife to some young boy a third of his age. His entire reputation was now in shambles and he wandered the grounds of their estate in silence, a broken man.

This was by far not the only family made victim to the Violent Devil’s antics, but it was among the worst off.

“He hides his nature.” A black mask informed. “Baumeister is home to commoners and foreign Nobility, scholarly fools who stick their noses into books all day. They have no idea of the youth’s true self. Initiate Miles already lost a wife to the boy. How long until he extends his claws to the students?”

It was Initiate Miles who had informed them of the Devil’s activities thus far. After months of feuding with his wife over the boy’s obvious intentions towards her, he had enough. Thanks to him, they now knew everything about the Devil’s recent movements.

Baumeister was like a breeding ground. It was ripe and fertile with ignorant masses who could be led astray.

“Whatever he’s up to, we cannot ignore it.” White-mask asserted.

Blue-mask snorted. “And what can we do? We’re all away. There are no members apart from Initiate Miles anywhere near Beauclaire. Who do we send to deal with the Devil on such short notice?”

It was then that a rarely-attending member of their Alliance spoke up. Green-mask, a legendary figure shrouded in mystery and also the founder of their organization.

“Who does one turn to when devils run amok?” A cold, emotionless voice turned their hearts to ice. “Angels.”

Charlotte had nearly killed the boy once.

Whether she wishes to or not, she’ll do so again.

Author: Just a head's up, but due to certain events that happen a little later on in the story, the guys above have their plans fucked. So this whole intermission as a plot point isnt gonna go anywhere for a long time and Charlotte herself wont appear until much later too

Originally she was to appear at the end of this volume, but because i changed the ending originally and made new content, she and this plot thread got pushed back. Why did i change the original ending to the volume? People complained Damien became too much of a fuckboy too soon, which i agreed with, so i brought in a different character early instead. You'll see who.
