*Metal hitting noises*

 

Dense fog lingered around the entire place, One cannot see any more than few meters, No matter which direction one looks, only white colour can be seen,

 

This is what the Northerners call 'The White Hell', The name they gave to these Ice wastes, Even a hot-blooded Northerner will consider this place too cold to live,

 

The echoing sounds of erratic mining metal ringings and shoutings from deep down there could be heard up here,

 

It is a Quarry in the middle of Ice wastes, It might be even considered foolish having a Quarry here of all places, taking into account that we have to completely mine out hundreds of meters of hard ancient ice before actually touch the ground, but the Ore that we need are only available in such frozen places and not on open grounds,

 

I looked down at the dark pit, Occasionally I can see big Carts of unprocessed Ores will be drawn by trained Direboars from the spiral path upwards, other than that only darkness could be seen, But those with good eyes like mine could see the Turquoise blue wisp-like lights, some moving, some staying right there, they are crystal torches, The Cart driver also use such torch while venturing down and to come back up,

 

"General, someone is coming" one of my Guards whispered,

 

Turning to the direction I could see a large sledge cart drawn by a fabulous Antler Deer, Its antlers are so big that it looks like giant tree branches without leaves, Due to the snow, its antlers have icicles frozen and snow has build-up,

Once it got close enough, it stopped before shook its head getting rid of Icicles and snorted towards us,

 

After which an entourage of robed women got out of the Cart and now walking towards us, But there was one person that no one could miss, especially with her weird pointy hat,

 

"What is the matter Sorceress? It's rare sight to see you this far out of your natural habitat," I made a remark, 

 

"I hope you're done with your ridicules, because I need you to do an important task that needs Brute's hand" the Sorceress didn't hit around the bush, she passed me a scroll,

 

"If you want to send someone for errands don't you have many trainees for that?" I asked looking at the task scroll for trainees,

 

"I already assigned a pair, But those idiots have dragged long enough and her Majesty is not really happy about it, Why else would I be out here to meet you in person?" she asked in disdain,

 

"Her Majesty wants this to be done fast huh?... Consider it done" I said with a smirk while scrunching the scroll which broke into ice fragments,

"Cultists?,... Are you sure about this information?" I asked Claire for confirmation,

 

"Yes, I heard it from one of the Knight's men, who are specifically searching for them" she said with assurance,

 

I gave a doubtful look towards her, "If you don't believe me why don't you ask them" she snorted at my suspicion,

 

I never heard of 'cultists' before, I can only think of classic demon summoning people in black robes, but combining this with these choir girls' suspicious acting, It finally makes sense, Why would church send choir girls to mediate with me to give them custody of a witch? Couldn't they just take it with force? why bother? These girls must have thought that they could take Kolin from me just like taking candy from a child, I can surmise that what Claire said is true but still one last test is needed,

 

After hearing this new information, I returned to converse with the choir girls, "Fine, I'll send her to Church..." I agreed with a grave face while noticing the girl's accomplished expression before I continuing "...but first, I'll send you both back to the Church with formal arrangements, your friends must be missing you guys" I said this in order to test them, should they accept this proposal, then they do belong to Church but if what Claire said is true, that they're this 'cultists', then they wouldn't agree to confront the Church,

 

The short-haired girl who was happy when she heard that I accepted, now started to freak out on my next words,

 

"No-No you don't have to go that far out of your way to do that, we'll just leave with her silently-" "We're not from the Church!" just when the short-haired girl was speaking in a flustered manner, the long-haired one who kept silent all this time interrupted with contradicting claim,

 

"..." The short-haired girl was shocked at her partner's actions, glared in her direction, signifying her to shut her trap, but she continued,

 

"We're witches! just like her-" "Belle!" the short-haired girl interrupted,

 

'At this point, I've seen too many shocking movie twists that I'm not surprised anymore, Wait! If they are like Kolin, Then... shouldn't they be easily able to escape with their power? Or were they playing their choir girls role diligently?' I wondered,

 

"I'm sorry Nancy, I don't think lying any longer would benefit either of us," the girl said towards her short-haired partner before turning to me,

 

"I'm not sure whether her condition can be cured by our Sisters, But they are the only people who are experienced in healing most ailments  that even powerful Kingdoms don't have a medicine for, If there are someone who can, Then they are your best bet," she said to me with a hopeful and convincing expression, I can tell that she is not lying, her eyes shone with seriousness and resolute,

 

Although suspicious about their guise, I honestly want to believe in her, But she's still not clear about who they are, the Churchmen called them cultists maybe they want Kolin's life for their ritual or something, Or am I being Paranoid?, Did the Church's propaganda influenced me too much?, In anycase, I can't compromise to hand Kolin to her, I needed to know what I'm dealing with first, 

 

"But who are you guys?... Collectively?" I asked the important question,

 

"We belong to 'The Order'," she said,

 

"Um...What Order?" I asked with a puzzled face,

 

"Exactly, No one remembers us" suddenly a sultry voice sounded from behind, echoing throughout the Cavern for everyone to hear,

 

My Slave girls immediately surrounded me while Claire was protected by her Grey Wolf,

 

I slowly turned around to look at the person who said this, 

 

A robed person standing considerable distance away from us, she stood as if she's been there for a long time,I can't discern her face other than her red lips because of her dark hood, Not even her body shape can be distinguished of gender, If not for her voice, I wouldn't have known her sex,

 

At that same instant, White Kitty appeared behind her, readied itself to pounce on her if she were to do something funny, It must have been stalking us the same way it does every time,

 

"Do not be alarmed, I mean you no harm" the woman spoke, despite her sexy voice there was no arrogance in her tone,

 

I also noticed something odd about her, she has an Aura! just like White Kitty does, both of which can be distinguished from each other, I am not certain how on earth she could possess an aura, the only possible explanation my [System] could make would be that she must be powerful as a Knight General or maybe even a Great Knight, But I'm unsure since I haven't encountered one before,

 

These silver-haired girls were shocked by the sudden appearance of Beast King, they kept looking at it for a moment before finally returning to the person in the hood,

 

"General Ysbel? wha-what are you doing here?" the short-haired girl called 'Nancy' asked in realization,

 

The woman turned to her direction "You two were taking your merry time to complete the task, So I was sent to fetch her quickly" she said while pointed towards Kolin,

 

It didn't take me long to figure out that these three belong to one group, based on how they recognize each other, But her last words caught the bad air about her,

 

Before I could say anything she continued,

 

"Be warned that what you're about to hear must be kept unknown to the Church, For even the very knowledge of our existence could doom your Barony,... Now... do you still want to know who we are?" she warned in a stern manner before asking this,

 

I nodded without giving a damn about her warnings, she was visibly surprised before composing herself to proceed,

 

"We belong to an Ancient Order based on the North, We once served as advisors and Teachers to Great Kings and Emperors, Even the lowest-ranked sisters were respected by the masses..." She reminiscences about their past emotionally for a moment before continuing in a grim tone "...But not anymore, now our very existence is only known to few people and masses have been calling us as 'Witches Nowadays" she said with disgust,

 

"But don't jump into conclusion that we are evil as the Church portray us to be, It is their way of hiding the truth from ever reaching the ears of the masses" she advised me,

 

'From the very start she kept a calm demeanor adding a mysterious air to her, She reminds me of the movies where the bad guy turns out to be a good guy, I'm not sure why but I expected her to be a more antagonistic attitude from her, Or is she playing the passive role because of Beast King? I'm unsure',

 

"Umm... Why are you looking for Kolin in particular? what do you intend to do with her?" I asked the important question that is bugging me all this time,

 

"The girl happens to be one of our fellow Sisters, It is our duty to bring her to our Order and teach her how to use her gift" she finished,

 

Now I get the whole picture, she belongs to something like a Sisterhood of Witches and these girls pretended to be choir girls to rescue Kolin safely to their group, It's like a pyramid scheme but exclusively for witches,

 

"So... you know how to cure her condition?" I asked about the current pressing issue, ignoring the 'bringing her back' part,

 

"I need to see it for myself first before I could say anything," she frowned saying that before disappearing and reappearing next to Kolin's Tent,

 

'Okay, she's quite... fast' I gulped,

 

*Growl*

 

The White Kitty was also surprised and mad that the woman was faster than itself, It also got close to the woman but held its ground since Kolin's tent was next to that woman, if it were to try hurt her she'll also get in the way,

 

"Small advice child, You wouldn't want me to be furious by your cat's mischief, so command it to behave or we'll have your secret Lair to be caved in, only for the Churchmen to find out this place" she warned me while taking out a bag,

 

"I'm going to examine her, don't freak out while I'm in the midst of it" she pre-warned me,

 

Understanding her intent, I nodded while gesturing White Kitty to back off, I accepted since not having any other way to cure Kolin myself,

 

Both of us entered Kolin's Tent, The woman checked Kolin's pulse clutching her wrist and body temperature like any modern physician would, which gave me the presumption that she knows what she's doing,

 

After pondering for a minute she inserted her hands inside her bag and took out some brown seeds, with her physical strength she pressed it into a powder, making a small balloon bursting sound, and then pushed them all down to Kolin's throat and waited for a moment,

 

*Screeching Screams*

 

A few moments later Kolin woke up screaming with loud pitch making me close my ears, she clutched her own head with visible nerves on both her face and hands, As if waiting for this, the woman shoved a handful of blueberries into her mouth while shouting "Eat! Bite! Swallow!..." She also grabbed Kolin's jaw to make some movement, Kolin ate them instinctively before calming again going back to sleep,

 

I watched the entire thing in horror, before exiting the tent with the robed woman,

 

"What's going on with her?" I asked in a low voice,

 

"She's having a brain injury, she must have had an epiphany last night, that must be what the Church's dog got scent of, But don't worry she'll be fine so I ask that you do your part," she said casually,

 

Brain injury sounds scary but also it's such a relief to hear that Kolin can be healed, "So what my part?" I asked while she gave me a parchment,

 

"Sign in the parchment," she said, giving a parchment to me,

 

"What is this?" I asked,

 

"An agreement that you disown her and send her to our Order..." she said pointing at Kolin, 

 

"No! I won't-mph!?" I refused outright for which she grabbed me by my face with her cold hands and lifted me,

 

*Roar*

 

Watching this the White Kitty swiped its claw towards her,

 

But she stopped the Beast's paw with another hand and using the same force she threw the Beast against the other side like a classic karate throw while destroying one of the camps and extinguished the campfire completely, On the impact, few stalactites fell and broke apart, One of them almost hit Claire, but she was saved by her Direwolf, which bared its teeth at the woman,

 

The White Kitty stood up by crawling to the side but kept its distance after its first clash with the woman,

 

I was still held above ground while all of this happened, My legs became limp, I never felt this weak before, I almost burst into tears from fear because of my childish heart,

 

Now the menace turned towards me with her hood off, finally showing her face,

 

She had similar short white hair like the choir girl, one of her eyes was covered by the silky white veil, using the other hand she moved her hair behind her ear showing her full mature face, Those bright blue eyes looked straight at me, I couldn't help but blush, she is hotter than those choir girls, but she equipped a serious cold face,

 

"Listen, I don't like hurting kids, But I'll tell you this..." she said before wiping a tear on my face that I shed unknowingly,

 

"...If one wants to survive in this world, he or she need to be strong, if not then you would never be able to withstand the Church or anyone else for the matter, The Church sent people here because one of them could detect last night's explosion and there are many people in Church like that..." she shed light as to why the Churchmen are searching in the Forest before turning her head towards Kolin's Tent,

 

"...That girl is strong, too strong for people like you to keep, She needs to be guided properly but here the Church could easily sense her growth and exterminate her, She needs a safe place to tend her injuries and to grow stronger, And the Order will always be her destined home, So I'll say this one last time, I am not asking this to you, I'm ordering you to give her up, You will only use her for your personal gains but we won't, and I'm taking her with me whether you like it or not" she said stressing the last three words, while the whole time every breath of her released white fog,

 

I don't want Kolin to leave but it seems like they need her more than I do, to save many witches like her, I feel conflicted but somehow ready to accept it, 

 

"Fine... I'll send her, for now, but know this! One day I'll come and claim back Kolin!" I said with my fist clenching for which she dropped me softly like a kid while slightly amused by my claim,

 

'Don't treat me like a child just because of a single tear' I shouted in my mind,

 

"Now sign the parchment" for her words I read the full parchment to know what it is, after which I realized that it is a document for transfer of slave ownership, But Kolin is not a slave, for she didn't abide by the contract when I bought her,

 

"But she is not a slave, she never complied the ritual," I explained for which the woman frowned and turned towards the choir girls who squeaked at her gaze, probably her informants got it wrong,

 

"Then it is time for me to take her with me," she said earning a sad sigh from me, 

 

"Master" Jill called me, I didn't even need to ask her intention as it was clear in her eyes, I simply nodded

 

At the same time white Kitty who just got slammed on the ground moved a little close to us, I looked at the White Kitty before turning to the woman,

 

"Alright I'll send Kolin but the Beast King and my subordinate will go also with her for protection..." I said waiting for her response,

 

"I don't mind having a mount" she said earning a disgruntled purr from Beast,

 

"...And I also need them to stay with me as a Guarantee of Kolin's wellbeing" I demanded, "No! not us!" the short-haired girl shouted,

 

"Fine, You two shall act as Guardian for the boy and protect him as punishment for delayed mission and misinformation" after pondering for a minute she agreed,

 

"No! You can't..." the short-haired girl could only complain weakly while the long-haired girl accepted without qualms,

 

Now the woman looked at me to do the obvious,

 

With the unhappy mood, I went inside the Tent and carried six feet, Kolin, as careful as I could with my four feet build,

 

I lingered for a moment before reluctantly, handed over Kolin to the woman after she mounted on the White Kitty, 

 

I hate doing this but Kolin needs treatment and better guidance in using her power, If they were all men, I wouldn't have trusted them but they are women so I can feel a little assured, 

 

Propping Kolin into a hugging position, with Jill also climbed on the back the woman was ready to leave,

 

"Wait a moment" saying that I rushed inside taking a parchment and wrote a letter before giving it to her,

 

"It is a Letter for Kolin, give her when she wakes up," I said while giving it to her, I don't want Kolin to feel like being thrown away, I want her to be strong so that one day we can meet again, looking it she understood my intent,

 

"If you wish to see her, come to the Ice wastes in the North, come there if you truly care about her," she said before turning around, the white kitty also looked at me one last time before leaving the Cavern in a single leap,

 

"Farewell Kolin but don't worry, I'll be back" I muttered to myself,

 

'Why do I feel sad, She's going to be cured, and probably this order would teach her stuff that she otherwise wouldn't learn, I need to learn how to get strong myself before bringing her back one day', I motivated myself,

 

*slapping sounds*

 

"You stupid Belle..." the short-haired girl started slapping the long-haired girl,

 

"Knock it off!" I shouted at her, "And you! You're the reason why we're stuck here in the first place!" the short haired girl was so mad that she started pinching both my cheeks and tried to twist them before the slaves pulled her out of me,

 

"Nancy! Remember our order is to act as guardian, not bullying the kid" she adviced her partner who could only stomp for their predicament that they're in,

 

"You two! help my slaves to repair this place" rubbing my burning cheeks I ordered the silver-haired girls, I didn't even want to hear their names after all this transpired, Because now I have another problem that needs to be sorted out,

 

"That was stupid..." I turned to Claire who said that,

"That was stupid... letting the Beast King go with her," I said explicitly making the boy turn towards me,

 

"Why are you sulking? aren't you free now with the Beast King gone? No one is holding your wolf to serve me," the boy asked while rubbing his red cheeks,

 

'Because I was planning to make the Beast King go against the DireBears and finish them off once they are weak, like killing two birds in one stone so that I could not only gain freedom but also claim the magnificent Fort from those Girls for myself, But alas, now thanks to this hooded witch my plan is in vain' I cursed,

 

"Claire, We both know that you're free and I don't trust you even one bit, so you have two options, either you leave or you can stay here and serve me by swearing your fealty to me" he said,

 

"Or the third option, I can stay here without serving you," I added with a smirk,

 

"If that's the option you want to choose then you have to kill all of us, The Church will be suspicious of Baron's son missing just when they are searching for Cultists, they'll send more people to search, exposing this place and even if they do not, I'm engaged to a Princess, she will send Royal Knights to search for me, Or even if you force us to leave without killing us we will come back with the same force, this path is doom for you, This is not a threat but a Fact," he said bluntly,

 

"Hold on! you talk like I'm some sort of wicked person, Its just my henchmen who do bad deeds and not me," I retaliated,

 

"You can't tell that you're not responsible for your henchmen's actions while you could have actually stop it by yourself" he shouted at me,

 

"They're bandits kid! for fuck sake they plunder and rape, I can't babysit them!" I replied,

 

"Then tell me why are you doing the whole pillage parade in the first place? like what's the point?" he asked with a serious face,

 

"...Listen kid, you have no idea how shit work out there!, So don't you get nosy on other's business!" I shouted at top of my throat, maybe a bit too much but that boy needs to remind who's running this place,

 

"But you are my business" he replied for which I couldn't say any retort,

 

Shaking his heads he continued "In anycase, Either you leave or serve me, that's your best viable options, if you leave, you are on your own continuing your pillaging parade or if you chose to serve me, you can have a Lair, servants, better arms, and enough gold to live lavishly," he proposed,

 

I stared at his face while weighing my options, I surely don't want to take revenge by killing village chiefs, it doesn't feels like revenge anymore, I can however propose to work for the crown or something but I'm afraid that they might suspect me as a witch, 

 

"Alright My Lord, I'm at your service," I said with a mocking tone, I don't mind playing Knight for a while, If I can have better options, I can switch later,

 

"Claire Redhood, I want you to come with me to the Church" he ordered her while walking in front,

 

"Hold on! why should I come to the Church? You just sent off your witch, are you now trying to frame me as one?" I asked, this obviously sounds suspicious,

 

"No! I want you to Swear your Fealty to me in the Church," he said,

 

"Swear Fealty? but why?, Isn't Swearing fealty only for Knights?" I asked with a frown,

 

" *Sigh*...I assume that you grew up in a village so let me shed some light for you, In Noble Society, any important servant have to Swear Fealty, it isn't only for a Knight but for all personnel, even maids who serve closely will swear to their lords, As for you, You're stronger than Knight, You will be my Spy and Assassin being my eyes and daggers, I will never believe you completely even after you swear but this is the least you could do to for me give me a peace of mind" he explained,

 

"Isn't it made publically? why should we go to Church?" I asked still suspicious about his intent,

 

"Public ceremonies are optional, the Original Vows are made in Church and sometimes secretly" he replied,

 

"Can't we do this after the Churchmen leave? won't they be suspicious if we go now?" I asked,

 

"If we wait until the men to leave, it will give room to suspicion, it is better to do things in broad daylight so as to make it seem normal" he reasoned,

 

*Sigh* I agreed, I just want to get over with this,

 

 

- Midday at the Church

 

 

I accompanied the boy to the Church's Entrance while wearing a maid robe,

 

Shady is waiting for me from the woods, just incase if he does something shady or something goes wrong, One shout is all I needed to escape, within the blink of an eye Shady will save me, most people won't even know what happened or what came other than a wind blew,

 

After entering the Church, I went on full alert, Shady can't see what happens inside this building and can only rely on its sharp ears to await my signal, I left my axe back at Cavern and only have my dagger to rely on, 

 

Once we entered the boy was greeted by an old Nun, she led the boy inside to talk with the priest while I waited at the entrance, 

 

Soon after, a white-haired Priest came out followed by another Nun, they led me to the back of the Church, it looked like a place for ritual,

 

I was already told about the specifics of what will happen, now they'll ask me to bow infront of the boy, and just like that they told me to bow, now the Priest started his chantings,

 

Despite his boring ritual chants that could make anyone drowsy, I kept my guard up for the entire duration while still bowing, And after who knows how long, the ritual was over,

 

"Claire Redhood, From now on you're a Sergent Claire" The boy announced, I couldn't help but accept my new position,

 

But after this shit was over he brought me to his Castle,

 

"Hey! why did you bring me here?, What am I supposed to do?" I asked gaining a surprised reaction from him, Its as if he just finally realized that I existed,

After doing the ritual we returned to Castle, We're in our room, Just after entering the room Claire shouted at me catching me off guard,

 

Claire looks very normal, It's almost as if the whole slave ritual didn't affect her, even her temper and behavior is also the same,

 

That's right, I tricked her to accept the Slave ritual, The one that the Priest do to choir girls when I bought them, I made the Priest agree to do this for three times the price of an average slave,

 

Claire is my next strongest unit after Kolin because of their Beasts, Since there aren't anything forces Claire to serve me I had to find a way to make her serve me and not the other way, For I would never believe a Rogue like her,

 

"Aren't we supposed to return to Cavern?" She shot a glare at me,

 

I wouldn't have believed that slave ritual worked if not for the connection I feel for every slave I have,

 

"Sit?" I said trying to test whether she's abiding by my commands or not,

 

"Alright but not because you said" saying that she sat on my bed before realized something, "Why am I listening to you? Wait don't tell me that you want me to do 'that'!" she asked in surprise when she sat on the bed, but quickly got up,

 

I almost thought that the Priest scammed me but her abiding by my command tells otherwise,

 

She looks as if she is still independent because when a person becomes slave, the slave obeys master's orders and that's it, everything else remains the same, including the person's personality, they don't become robots, Most Church slaves simply accept their fate because of how they grew up to be submissive but Claire is different,

 

Even after making her my slave, I actually need to make her fall for me otherwise, her personality will be very bitter and I wouldn't be able to control her, But something else needs to be done firsthand,

 

"Claire Redhood, You have a lot of punishments left pending, for killing innocent villagers, raping them using bandits and also kidnapping me, the most disturbing part is letting those farmwives getting raped!" I quickly understood what happened, She's simply retelling what happened in her own way, she must have been through a lot that her morality is fucked up,

 

"I'm sorry, I-I didn't know" I lost my interest to ravage her, My eyes couldn't help but to tear up, There's a limit to how much my little weak heart can handle, Leting them taking Kolin is one thing but Claire's story kind of hit me in the bad spot, It's too much for me, she must be blaming herself ever since that event transpired,

 

"Why are you crying? weren't you going to punish me?" she asked playfully but I can see that it's just her facade to pretend strength,

 

"UWAAAHA...!" "Hey! knock it off" I hugged her despite her trying to push me away, I grappled her torso not letting her go,

 

She groaned with annoyance but I didn't care,

 

"This world is so Cruel! WAAA!" "Hey don't wipe your snout-Ugh... just great!" I cried while hugging and rubbing my face on her almost flat chest, I didn't stop until I eventually could feel her warm caressings before I pretended falling asleep from tiredness, 

 

"Stupid crybaby" she cursed me on my sleep in a low tone, She may pretend to be hard on me but her caressing hands tells me a different story,

 

Little did she know that this is my plot to conquer her heart, I can clearly see that she is a person who wouldn't just bend by mere words, I need to take it slow, show my weakness and make her love me,

 

With that aim I fell asleep for real, 'I'll come for you Kolin' my concious faded with that thought
