4: Final test: The Boss.

… I remember entering the boss room, and then having a moment of clarity in which I suddenly gained an idea for winning all future fights. Yet… I don’t remember anything after that. Now I’m naked, covered in blood, and … I’m surrounded by dead horned rabbits, along with one very large and dead horned rabbit. I thought everything was supposed to vanish?

… my curses are different. Did I change them? I think I did. Why can’t I remember it?

[The Cursed One] - Immune to blessings. Curses are greatly strengthened. Cannot be removed.

This… it’s possible to make a curse unremovable? It seems like doing so makes the bonuses stronger too, since it’s treated as an additional detriment. Frighteningly dangerous though. If I make a mistake with an unremovable curse, I can’t fix it!

[Natural Deadliness] - Can only wield natural weaponry. Gain natural weapons which grow with you in strength. Cannot be removed.

Is this why my nails look so sharp?

[Blood Dress] - Cannot wear anything but blood. The more covered in blood you are, the less damage you take from attacks. Any attack that hits a place not already covered in blood, will cause you to spill some blood, and become bloodied. Cannot be removed.

… what? … did my mad fighter curse make me do this? A curse to make me nude? I can’t even remove it! I can’t go back to town like this! If I’d known this would happen, I’d never have used it. What has taken its place now?

[Blood Rage] - Being injured induces a mindless battle rage. Greatly increases combat skill at the cost of temporarily going berserk. Cannot be removed.

… fuck. That’s quite possibly the most dangerous thing I could’ve chosen for a curse. Combined with the Blood Dress making me bleed when attacked in a spot not covered in blood yet, I can’t even rely upon damage reduction to avoid going berserk in town if someone hits me… I fucked up bad. I fucked up real bad. What else have I done to myself?

[Vampiric Life] - Cannot eat or drink anything but blood. Regenerate quickly as long as you have enough blood. Recover stamina quickly as long as you have enough blood. Cannot heal by any other means. Cannot recover stamina by any other means. Cannot be removed.

… um… I’m a vampire. Fuck. Aren’t vampires supposed to be undead though? I’m very much alive. Stamina is normally recovered by resting… do I still need sleep?

[Sleepless] - Cannot sleep. Immune to sleep inducing effects. Greatly reduced penalties for lack of sleep. Cannot be removed.

Reduced penalties? That means there are still penalties, right? Fuck.

[Blood Dominance] - Your blood is yours. Your enemies blood is yours. Blood is life, life is blood. Cannot be removed.

What? What even is this doing? … wait, is it why the bodies and blood haven’t vanished? Can I collect it? As I thought about it, all the blood began collecting into a ball in front of me, and then the dead bodies turned into blood and joined it creating a massive ball of blood.

Can I store it? I don’t need this much blood right now. Checking the guild storage system, the answer is yes. With some experimentation, I figured out a way to even drink directly from storage. However… there’s no loot from the boss. Did my curse make it so all I get is blood?

[Bloody Mess] - Make everything bleed. Cannot inflict other ailments. Cannot gain resistance or immunity to bleed. Cannot be removed.

Well, this is just an obvious synergy. Since I’m so dependent upon blood, a curse to make more of it is obvious, even if it’s mine.

[Take it slow] - Deal less damage. Always do at least a tiny bit of damage. The more injured a target, the more damage you do. Cannot be removed.

I wish I had numbers to show me at where the break even point is. However, that minimum damage rule should help make sure anything can be taken down, even if it takes forever.

… I am so fucked. In my madness I created a perfect build for fighting a never ending battle. How long was that fight? I don’t even know. I guess I’ll just stay in the dungeon and continue. I don’t want to starve, and there’s no longer any reason to go back to town. It’d be too dangerous to go back to town.

Young Priest’s view

That young woman has gone from strange dream, to recurring nightmare. That haunting laughter. The way she revels in blood during battle. It feels like watching a demon. At first people called her the Maiden of Blood. Now though, we’ve begun to call her the Vampire Princess. We’ve had to issue warnings. Adventurers must stay away from her. So far the only casualties have been fools who attacked her when she was found wandering around. They must’ve thought she was someone who’d barely survived a fight being covered by nothing but blood. They must’ve thought she’d be easy prey. They died for that mistake.
