I dry-heaved. Just thinking of the mangled body of the goblin almost made me vomit. But I wasn’t as traumatized as I thought I’d be. It could be the adrenaline in my veins or it could be that I realized that it was either kill or be killed. Pushing the thought to the back of my mind, I chose the first game.

[“Tutorial Game One: Kill one goblin in five minutes. Starting in ten seconds.”]

I got ready just as the countdown hit one, and I saw the goblin, I rushed in and swung my mace. As my mace had a longer reach than the goblins sword, I managed to send it flinging a few meters. I quickly did a follow up attack and bashed the goblin’s head in.

[“Tutorial Game One: Kill one goblin in five minutes: Complete.  Time taken 00:00:24. Hidden quest: Kill goblin in less than thirty seconds: Complete. Evaluation: S. Choose last game.

Game Two: Raise sta: Survive against goblins (2).

Game Four: Raise int: Outwit goblins (4).

Game Five: Raise luck: Defeat goblins (1-4). Repeat? Y/N”]

The first time is always the hardest. Now that I had killed my fourth goblin, it was much easier for me. For now I had increased strength and agility. I was now confused between intelligence and luck. After thinking for a while, I decided on luck. The reason? I chose all odd numbers and it made a pattern. Kidding. My intuition told me that luck would help. In any game a lot of things were random, if luck could influence that then it would be a really important stat. But I won't be neglecting other stats of course.

[“Tutorial Game Five: defeat two goblins in seven minutes. Starting in ten seconds.”]

I got ready, raising my vigilance as soon as I saw a goblin appear I ran towards it and struck it. The goblin flew back in surprise and pain. The second goblin was aiming his arrow at me ready to hit me, I quickly dodged right and ran towards it. A ranged goblin was more dangerous. So I made this one my target. My mace crushed the bow and the goblin’s hand along with it and then I ran back towards the first goblin, which was ready to charge at me. Thankfully I chose a mace. I managed to hit him before he hit me. I pounded him until he was dead then went back to the second goblin and bashed its skull.

[“Tutorial Game Five: defeat two goblins in seven minutes: Complete. Time taken 00:00:58. Hidden quest: Kill all goblins under one minute: Complete. Evaluation: A+. View results? Y/N”]

Breathing a sigh of relief, I thought ‘yes’.

[“Main rewards: agi +2. str +3. luck +2. Hidden rewards: Game one: free stat +1. Game two: res+2. Game three: weapon rank upgrade. Weapon received. View? Y/N”]

Wow, I was shocked. Did I get more stats because my evaluation was better? I thought so, because I did better in game one, that raises strength. And, strength increased by three while the others increased by two. The hidden reward was sweet. One unallocated stat, plus two to resistance and weapon upgrade. Yes! View weapon.

Name: Beginner’s mace

Rank: E

Attack: 5-7

Options: Sta+1

Okay, the attack increased by one and an option of stamina +1 was added. Nice. I was thinking of adding my free stat on sta or int but now I was thinking of saving it. The voice started speaking again

[“Tutorial: Complete. Evaluation: A++. Level+2. Free stat: +10. Going to intermission stage in five minute.”]

Before doing anything else, I figured I should look at my status. So I thought ‘Status menu’ and lo and behold:
