//Esla's Pov: Crown princess. //

Originally...
I sought the Queen's throne to make a difference.
To change the twisted belief of the people of this nation.

It was for my sister...
As well as for my mother...

Keeping humans as slaves or kicking them out of the country is a good way to prevent any humans spies from entering the kingdom. But the way they view humans is narrow, that they often see them as nothing more than objects and tools.

Though the only good thing about them is the fact they haven't performed acts of cruelty that they treated them as less than cattle's.

But the superiority they have over them, however, shows a certain truth...
That the demon-race overwhelm the humans in both knowledge and power.
Along with how their life extends further than them.

It is only natural that they would have a large advantage over them.

It makes a lot of sense that this kind of thing existed, even without the war between us.

As Esla walked the halls with her fiance.
His azure eyes, scales, and hair along with his icy wings.
Reveals the race he was born in, the clothing he wore were as formal which Esla wore.
Wearing a typical black suit to match Esla's color.

He then asked her.

"Looks like your sister was accepted as the crown princess." Upon saying those words.

Esla brow's twitched then calmly said.
"And so?"
He then gave her a bored expression in response.

"Weren't you aiming for the crown?" he said with curiosity.

Esla replied with a sharpness.
"Do you intend to be King?"
He flinched at her words then casually said.

"If you're going to become queen.
Then I might as well aim to become one.

But, you know...
I wouldn't mind settling as an ordinary citizen as long as your around."

Esla could only feel flattered at his words but then frowned while saying.
"For someone who lack's ambition.
You sure say surprising things sometimes."

He shrugged as he retorts.
"For someone who aimed for the seat of the Queen.
You sure are calm that your sister instantly stole it."

She then deeply sighed at his words.
"From the very beginning,
I only aimed for that title because I wanted to make a change.
But if my sister were to become one,
Then...
I would have achieved the same thing with her assistance."

He then smiled and hanged his arm on her shoulder.
"That's why I asked you,
I was wondering if you still feel that way.
Though, I don't think the other candidates would appreciate such a sudden decision."

Esla could only nod in worry.
"That's the one thing...
We need to watch out for.
Also...
I highly doubt my own sister would appreciate, receiving such a title so suddenly.
I'm a bit afraid that, she will do something crazy."

He then asked.
"The kind of crazy that happened yesterday?"

To her reply.
"Yes...
And I'm worried that she might run away."

With a wry smile, he then said.

"Even if she did do such a thing.
I highly doubt she will get far.

Buuuut... if it ever did happen.

The new's will spread across the city about the daughter of the demon-king that tried to run away."

Esla could only tilt her head downwards while holding her head.
"Just imagining it, is giving me a headache."

As they walked towards the council to provide their report.
The two unknowingly will soon see a spectacle of her Estel's Greatest Performance.

// I won't, let it end like this -part 2- //

Before Estel woke her grandfather.
She went to her cabinet and scrounged it for her best dress.
There was still an hour left before the council meeting.

She recalled a specific dress that she wasn't able to wear six years ago.
Which she had once requested her mother a similar dress to her own sister out of jealousy.
Though her mother tricked her into giving her a larger dress which she expected Estel to wear in a few years.

She believed Estel would have the same color of hair as her sister on her 9th birthday when her wings blossomed while also the day where her hair changed into a darker color.

It was a good moment to use it, she thought.

When she found it, she quickly changed her own clothing using it.
Facing the mirror she then noticed.

Her dark hair complemented it, however, she felt like her own sister when she was younger.
Also while feeling a sense of awkwardness how it still fits her despite all the year's it's been kept, realizing she hadn't grown taller for a long time.

It was a specific dress to draw the attention of the crowd during a celebration or event within the castle. The design had an elegant design with a dark color showing one side of her shoulder revealing the side where scales were located.

It also possessed beautifully decoration of black rose design aligned on the opposite side.

It was simply attractive clothing that fits quite well with her own sister.
And now, she thought it looked good on her as well.

[It's such a shame to waste such clothing.
But I need to do this, if I want to get out of this mess.]

As she soon woke her grandfather.
He was surprised to see her dress as she soon made her request.

...

...

...

While walking in the halls servants and many of her race gazed at her in intrigue.
Her grandfather was walking calmly while she guided her with one hand.
While gazing at her dress, he then thought.
[Wasn't this the dress Rue designed for Esla a few year's back?
To think her second daughter had a copy of it.
Though what is this child planning by going to the council in this get-up...]

As he looked at her with concern,
Estel then said.

"Grandfather...
About what happened this morning."

"Hm?"

She then said with a guilty expression.
"I-I'm sorry,
I nearly lost control of myself again.
Didn't I?"

Her grandfather smiled at her words.

"It's fine...
The reason I came to visit you that early...
Was because I was worried that would happen."

"..."

"Aside from the terrible smell in your room,
I was also there to tell you about their decision to make you the crown princess."

Estel then asked again.

"Why did they make me crown princess?" she asked.

He then replied.
"I'll be perfectly honest.
It is simply because...
You are an extremely rare existence of your race."

"Eh?" Estel was confused as he then continued to explain.

"Your sister cannot compare to what you are capable of...
The demon-kingdom seeks a powerful symbol to show the people that if one were to try and usurp the throne. They would need to face the one who stood on top of it.

Having many kinds of races of different capabilities has it's ups and down.
There are ambitious fools who sought the throne for themselves.
While also, There are conspiracies being brought out in the dark."

"But still...
I barely have any understanding of what is going on in the castle!
Nor have I left my own room for years!?"

In his reply.
"Which is why they are trying to make the change.
The moment they discovered, what you truly were.
All of them were filled with regret that they have mistreated you."

She then said with frustration.
"Even so...
This doesn't make things right!"

Her grandfather went silent as she said those words,
Showing a troubled expression, he didn't feel any disturbing presence like before.
Once again she asks.

"Then...
What about my sister and mother?
How come I haven't seen them."

"Your sister is currently dealing with work in the castle.
She visited you once while you were sleeping.
While your mother is doing business in Bristle, regarding your kidnapping."

"I... see."

"Don't worry...
They will come to visit you soon, once they are done."

Estel smiled a bit when she heard him.
But then told him with concern.

"If I start losing myself again...
Then, don't hesitate to put me to sleep-
Like last time, Alright?" As she said those words her father couldn't help but smile giving her a nod.

They reach the door that leads to the council chambers.
He let's go of her hand and pushed it.

As the light of the room, soon revealed the number of races and their leaders.
Estel mind at that moment was.
[There's, like a hundred of them!]

Indeed, the many races of the kingdom all in one place.
As they share their knowledge of what was occurring in the world around them.

Her chest tightened in anxiety.
Compared to humans, they were all different sizes and colors.
Not only that.
Some of them have a terrifying aggressive look to them.

But she couldn't let herself be overwhelmed by them.
The moment she asked to go and see the council.
There was a person she wanted to meet the most.

That would be her own father.
She tightened her hand in a fist then loosened it.
Then reached out to her grandfather's hand as he gently pulled her hand.

The council at that moment was in the middle of conducting their business regarding the many troubles inside their own city along with the outside villages concerning monsters.

They were interrupted by the footsteps coming from the door as they were soon silenced.

*Clack* *Clack* *Clack*

The sound of Estel's high heel's resounded as she elegantly moved alongside her grandfather.
Everyone gazed in surprise, they thought it was Esla due to her dark hair and red eyes.
But her short height and size told them, it was none other than her own sister.

As she walked step by step, she felt a cold sweat on her back and trembled a bit.

But biting her lips in frustration, she focused her senses in her own movement.
They walked on the red carpet while the other races on the sides were watching her with judging gazes. The two soon reached the center facing where the Queen and King sat.

Her father then asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"Estel, what are you doing here?"

His dark hair and eyes that revealed a terrifying visage caused Estel to tremble but...
There was something she really wanted to say, that it made her blood boil.

Directing her own eyes to him, she then weakly said.

"Father...
I came here...
To..."

...

...

...
After a few seconds, she lost her voice.
As voices were slowly beginning to echo across the halls.

Feeling a sense of hatred for herself, she became desperate.
She tightly dug her nails into her own hand as she cried out to him.

From a weak voice into a loud one.

"I came here, none other than to... COMPLAIN!"

The council attention was suddenly shocked upon hearing her shout.

Her grandfather, on the other hand, eyes went wide when she said those words.
He never expected her to suddenly confront him in such a way in front of the council.
However, in Estel's thoughts, the reason why she did such a thing was...

(*She recalled a certain fact about being a crown princess.
That her voice can now be heard in the council.

Using that fact.
She is now asserting her authority as the crown princess and complains to her own father regarding the circumstances dealt with her.

She is free to voice words she desired the anger that lingered of all the year's she was kept in a single room, hoping for something to change.

It was her moment to bear her fangs on her father and in the council that rejected her.

While recalling how haughty Leanne's actions were.
She was bold, reckless and sharp with her tongue, it was something she wanted to do herself for once, in a long time. However, she was unable to do such a thing, due to the number of scorning eyes directed at her. But this time it was completely different, their eyes have completely changed and this aggravated her, to finally speak her mind.*)

But she continued to speak her mind.

"What's with the sudden decision of turning me into the crown princess!?"

"What about my own sister Esla?"

She then said to him with disdain, as he tried to speak out.
"Es-"

But Estel continued to barrage him with her frustration.

"Do you even have any idea!
How long I've been wondering and idling in that room!
Do you have any idea how lonely it has been in that place!

Why... why am I suddenly chosen as the crown princess!
I know nothing but the etiquette and rules of this place!?"

She then turned her angry gaze toward the council while pointing at them.

"AND ALL OF YOU!?

How dare all of you suddenly make such a decision!

What were you all thinking!

It may perhaps be true I came from a rare species of my own race!

But what the heck!?

That still doesn't change the fact I hate this place!?

Do you all expect that...
I'll forgive every one that treated me like a stain would be washed away by giving me such a title!?

WELL, THEN I WILL TELL YOU ALL NOW!

I DONT NEED SUCH A TITLE!"

As she said these words,
she ripped the skirt of her dress with her bare hand and pulled out the pin on her hair letting her hair down.

The cloth she wore made the sound of tearing as she did so.

Like an angry child that is performing a tantrum in front of the whole place.
Her grandfather wanted to stop her, but couldn't bring himself to move as he watched the spectacle in front of him. It was undoubtedly true that Estel had been bearing grudges towards everyone in her own home. However, he didn't feel any malicious presence of her own wings spreading nor felt the need to stop it.

As she ripped her own clothing it revealed a large number of bandages wrapped around her body.
Estel herself would be too embarrassed to expose herself to so many people, after all. She was still a girl on the inside.

Then finally she pulled out the emblem given to her by her own grandfather as proof of being the crown princess. She then stepped on the emblem of her home with her heels without hesitation, crushing it in front of them.

As everyone gasps in surprise.

"Haa... Haa..." as she catches her breath, she then firmly said to all of them.

"WITH THIS!
I RENOUNCE MY TITLE AS THE CROWN PRINCESS!"

// A Shocking Truth. //

"WITH THIS!
I RENOUNCE MY TITLE AS CROWN PRINCESS!" as she said those words.
The whole council was filled with murmurs.

But then Estel heard a clap,
it wasn't from the front but from the sides where a man rose from his seat as she shouted.

"Amazing! simply astonishing!" then it was from her left, as more then began to clap.

"Eh?" Estel was puzzled then into confusion.
before she knew it, everyone in the council was clapping after showing something so unsightly.
Her hair was down and her clothes were ripped, she even went as far as breaking the emblem given to her.

The Queen who sat on her throne then began to giggle.
Her own father was looking at her with a pitiful expression on his face.

"Truly, I expected the daughter of Rue to be a disappointment.
But this changes everything." another rose from her left then said.

"Eh?"

Then another rose from her right as they clapped.

"What an unexpected show of pure will.
Even after all these year's, she was still able to speak so clearly.
Truly, we have made a grave mistake of turning our back on her."

"EH..."

It was then in Estel confusion she then cried out.

"What on earth is happening!
Weren't I supposed to be banished for doing this!"

The Queen mother couldn't any longer contain her own calmness any longer as she then laughed out loud.
Estel's father, however, could only look away.
At her own daughter who is now completely lost at what was happening.

The Queen then spoke to her to explain what was unfolding before her.

"Oh Estel, you silly child.
Aren't you forgetting something crucial?"

As she said those words Estel was still confused unable to understand her words, her own grandfather could only sigh in response, as he removed the black coat he wore to cover Estel's body.

The murmur's of the council then began to spread.

"So that's the crown princess." Random #1

"I heard she was weak, but that was quite an impressive show of strength." Random #2

As the Queen rose her hand, the council then began to quiet themselves.

"It may perhaps be true that you are free to voice your opinion in the council as the crown princess. But within those rules, it was also said that it also required the whole council's agreement for it to happen." As she said those words, Estel then recalled it.

The crucial part of the detail within the council rules.
Which were:

[Approval of both the King and Queen.
Or...
Approval of the Council with either the King or Queens wishes.]

Estel then kneeled in front of both of them with a blank and shocked expression in her face.

"It is good to see, you still remember your training.

But still...
That show of courage to face everyone here today...
Just to express yourself is quite admirable.
However, you're still a naive child who still lack's proper training.

Let this be your first lesson."

Estel herself didn't want to give up as she then said to her.
"What about the emblem.
I'm sure that would lead to my punishment?
At least Exile ME!"

Everyone around her then replied to her.
"Denied."

"Rejected."

"Overruled."

Upon hearing the words of the many races around her.
The Queen then said to her.

"The emblem you received is easily replaced.

And besides, you've been thoroughly unjustly punished enough for years already it's sickening to watch them treat you like this. It is only natural that you would find it difficult to receive such a title despite how cruelly they have treated you.

As your personal teacher, I've thoroughly warned them of your frustration towards everyone in the castle. Truthfully, I feared you would use this power to abuse those around you, because of how poorly they have treated you."

Estel then voiced her concern for her own sister.

"Then what about my sister!?
Isn't this what she worked hard for?
Why wasn't she chosen instead!"

The queen simply coughed a bit then told her.

"Then ask her yourself.
She's right over there." As the Queen pointed at a certain direction.
Esla was gazing at her with a pitiful expression.
Her fiance was covering his mouth containing his laughter beside her.

"In actual fact, your father was the only one who rejected the idea of you becoming the crown princess. But the council is already in full agreement of you becoming the next crown princess.
And no amount of foolishness would change that."

With a wide smile on her face,
Estel could only freeze in shock as she heard her words.

The Queen then stood and spread her wings as she flew in front of her.

"We are not forcing you to become queen right now, you know?
The title of the crown is merely a sign of respect given to an heir worthy of its name.

You have plenty of time to grow and be free to become who you are.
Until I find you worthy of sitting in this throne.

Or... were you expecting to become Queen after receiving such a title?"

Estel embarrassment rose to its peak, as her face went completely red in shock.
It was at that moment, she couldn't handle it anymore and fainted on the spot.

Later onwards, new's spread across the city of the demon-kingdom.
Regarding a young crown princess that bravely expressed her hatred after the long years of prejudice, in an attempt to renounce her title. It became quite a topic in the town as it skillfully showed in great detail how Estel simply stripped herself just to make her point.

Not sure if I screwed this chapter up.
But it was fun writing it.
