I realized that people are biased towards things when they have a comparison to previous work. A very prime example is a review I just got. It was so lengthy, so tiresome to read through every single line, just to realize that the guy was simply dissatisfied that I changed my novel instead of truly being dissatisfied, that I decided to just delete the prototype.
It is to show you my middle finger, on just how stupid your thinking was about trying to force me into going back to the prototype.

After seeing that review, though I still think deleting the prototype in the heat of the moment was wrong, I definitely sympathize with you author. Rating the story a one star is one thing, but also writing such a horribly structured review with no punctuations and no separate paragraphs? Jesus f*cking Christ, I would slam a desk if I was in your shoes.
I myself think comparing the two works is valid since there were some aspects of the prototype that I found more preferable to the new version, but I can also understand those aspects are also much harder to write as an author as well. The prototype version had more freedom with how to develop the skills and characters, but too much freedom is sometimes detrimental, choice overload is a thing after all.
