5. OG BL novel recommendations

World Symphony Mediator

 

World Symphony Mediator by oofcat

Review by Heart:

This is a story about an unfavored game class called Mediator as it has unfavorable combat stats. However, a boy, Ai took on the challenge of becoming one as he discovered that there may be more to this class than it appeared on the surface. He gained a pet and a companion of similar vibe to himself. Together they will discover the meaning of friendship; maybe more [smirk]. I love this story because it showed a new way to play games and violence isn't always the answer! The journey they go through might not seem much but there is always moral values to be learnt. Understanding that everything meets more than the eyes can see. Lovers of litrpg can hop on and read this as the pace and flow is smooth and easy to read~

A popular VRMMO that gave its players high fantasy worlds and a classic RPG feel.
Ai was just one of the many players that played the game for the very first time. As a new player, Ai decides to follow what the [World Symphony] forum said and not pick the dreaded Mediator class, the class deemed as useless and complete garbage by the players.
It was supposed to be a good for nothing class that would offer no benefit at all.
Choose the Mage class!
Then why...

"Does this path interest you?"
"Yes."

A fantasy virtual reality game themed story in which a single player slowly unlocks the secret of a seemingly useless class that every player hates.

Our Sweet Days by FantasyDeath

Review by CynicalStrawberry:

Generally, I'm not the biggest fan of omegaverse because the "alpha" and "omega" stereotypes and differences are so overdramatized. However, I do enjoy calmer fluffy stories and I found just that in "Our Sweet Days". Furthermore, there's an element of secrecy and mystery in the main character that keeps you hooked to the story: why did the MC give up his family and life to his younger brother?

This and the periodic doses of fluff in the relationship between the ML and MC makes this story a very pleasant and enjoyable read. It's very easy to get boring with calm fluffy stories like this but for now I'm really enjoying this one. If you like this author's style of writing, they also have several other stories including a completed one that contain the same amount of calm fluff. However, of the few I've read I personally like this plot the most.

With his fiancé having been stolen by his (supposedly) kind-hearted and merciful younger brother, Sun Fang decides to take the high road. (To the surprise of everyone who's ever known him.) Instead of fighting to get his cheating fiancé back, Sun Fang sets out to fully enjoy the wealth of his family. After all, he's no longer the heir (his younger brother took that too) which means that he has no responsibilities. Ah, the life of a worry-free rich young master is really the best!

There are a lot of goodies this month! First, we have some BL visual novels!

Sui Yue: There's a new BL Xianxia danmei out in the market now for free! Do give it a spin. It features a young man who's forced to work as an assassin, but the ending is cute and fluffy! ML is handsome too! - hat tip to LinXueLian

Visual Danmei: Douya and the Golden Scroll: Introducing visual OEL danmei, a type of danmei originally written in English presented with sounds, pictures, animations and music! Set in a brightly-colored Wuxia world with beautiful music, fun battles and amusing love interests, Douya and the Golden Scroll is a not-so-family-friendly BL visual novel that's guaranteed to make you laugh. Or cringe, depending on your mileage. Also submitted to Yaoi Jam 2021.

Octavius Ezra Severna, the mute 4th prince of Saule Lec, never saw a purpose to life besides serving the kingdom and being mute and especially with his sexuality he knew best then to speak but his loyal friend Antero went out of his way to stop the poor prince from dying of misery and found him someone very flamboyant to keep him company online until they mutually decided on meeting in real life and Omari Valentine couldn't believe who his boyfriend was.
