Chapter Two

A/N: This chapter will have a lot of explaining in it. Please do not mind it, because if I explain it all now, I won't have to explain later. Also, this novel is completely family friendly! In case you didn't already know. Later, I may post a new story that tells the nightlife of grown up Cadmar and his harem. This information is exclusively for you readers and to no other site......?

After finding out that I had a huge amount of magic power, I was thrilled. Now I know that I can use strong magic. Why am I obsessed with strong magic? It is because I want to prove that the reason I was left by my parents was not because I was weak. I also want to prove that Feeh didn’t choose wrong when he picked me up. I want to prove to everyone that I am not weak, and that I am not some poor person who was left alone, and get pity,

Oh, who am I talking to? I don’t know anyone besides Feeh.

Right after my train of thoughts stopped, Feeh said, "Now that we know your magic power’s quantity, I can teach you how to use magic. We have already taken the first step in learning magic, which was when you saw your magic power quantity, and now we will be taking the second step. I am going to explain what happens when you use magic, okay?”

“When you use magic, you are using the magic power inside of your body as a catalyst to summon magic power from the surroundings. The amount of magic power that you can summon, depends on the quantity of the magic already in your body. Or more specifically, the amount that you can summon is exactly as much as the magic power you already have. That means that after summoning magic power from the surroundings, you will have exactly two times the amount of magic that you started with. For example, if you had a thousand as the quantity of your magic power, after summoning magic, you would have two thousand magic power. However, very few people use that extra magic. Remember what I told you about life force and souls? How the soul is encased in a natural magic that was given to you at birth, and strengthens the soul? And after you run out of magic, you will pass on? Because of these reasons, people always only use the magic that they got from the surroundings, instead of their own magic that was given by Reincarnation at birth. After all, all living beings don’t want to die. We all want to live. We want to fulfill our desires, our wishes. Even the most righteous person, in a sense, is greedy. They want to fulfill their desire of helping others. All beings want to fulfill their desires…….”

As he said that, Feeh got a faraway look in his eyes. Then, as if realizing that he had been looking off into a place only he could see, he cleared his throat.

“Uhm! Sorry, I got off topic.”

After apologizing, Feeh started explaining how to use magic to me.

“As I was saying, all living beings want to live. That is why most people only use the magic they got from the surroundings so that the rest keeps on strengthening the soul to keep the life force inside of our bodies. Because you might die, I do not want you to use up all your magic, like I said before.”

Interesting. So, in summary: to use magic, you must have magic to act as a catalyst. The magic that will be summoned from the surroundings will be exactly as much as the magic that you already possess. However, that doesn’t mean that you will be able to use two times your magic amount. Well, you can, but that is only if you don't care about death.

“Now then, let’s get to the most exciting part. Using magic.”

Yes! Yes! This is the part I was waiting for! The main topic….. Using magic!

“There are two ways to use magic. You can do chantless, or you can do it using chants. When you use magic, you must first summon magic from the surroundings, then you have to turn that magic into the substance that you want to create. For example, when you are trying to use the fire attribute magic Fireball, as the name states, you must create a ball of fire. When using chants, you just have to say the name of the spell in the Magic Language. When using the Magic Language, magic will follow your commands. It will turn into the substance you want it to. Using chants is the easiest way to use magic, however it makes it so that you must memorize words in the Magic Language. Currently, there are 3,000 words in the Magic Language that we know of. An average person knows about 500 words in the Magic Language. An average wizard memorizes about 2000 words, while experts memorize all of them. Most people use chants because they are the easiest way to use magic. However, you can also do chantless. When you are doing chantless, it is much harder, but the benefits are greater than chanting. When you are chanting and are fighting against a mage, they also know the Magic Language and will know what spell you are going to use. However, if you are chantless, then the wizard will not know what magic you are going to use. Also, you can do it fast as well. Some chants are long and take too much time to cast. I prefer chantless magic over chanting, but since I know how to do it both ways, I can teach you any way you want. What do you want me to teach you? Chantless or using chants?”

I thought about what Feeh said. He said that there are two ways to use magic. One way is to chant and another is to not chant. Most people use chants, because chants are in the Magic Language, and magic follows what the Magic Language wants it to do. But there is also the option of being chantless. Even though it is harder to learn, chantless magic has many benefits in return. When using chantless, you can be stealthy. Because Feeh said that he knew how to do both, he could teach me either one. Hmmmmm.

All right! I have decided how I want Feeh to teach me.

“Feeh. I have decided how I want you to teach me.”

“Then which way? Chantless or using chant?”

“I want you to teach me both ways, Feeh. I want to completely master how to use magic. Because of that, I will have to learn both ways to use magic.”

Feeh had a satisfied look on his face.

“Good. This is what I wanted you to say. Most people would take the easy way out, and learn magic through chants, while others would not do that and learn to use magic chantless. However, very few people would want to learn both chantless and using chants. Also, I applaud your spirit for wanting to do chantless even though I haven’t said why chantless is so hard, yet.”

Good. It seems that I have made the correct choice. Oh. Feeh has started talking again.

“I will tell you why doing chantless magic is so hard. It is because, when you are doing chantless magic, you have to know the principles of nature. You must know things like why fire burns when it is lit. Why a puddle of water disappears on a hot day, or why it rains. Most people do not bother to learn these principles of nature, because they think that it is magic that does these things. They think that it is because of magic that it rains and etc.. However, they are wrong. There are principles of nature, and without learning them, you will have a hard time learning chantless magic. So, I will be teaching you the principles of nature, and then you can start to learn chantless magic.”

What Feeh had just said, had surprised me. There are principles of nature? I thought that it rained because too much water magic was in the air. That thought of mine was incorrect? It seems that I will have to learn these principles of nature and it sounds very boring to me. But if it helps make it easier to master chantless magic, I will gladly learn them.

“There are many principles of nature. For example, the reason it rains is because the sun takes the moisture from the plants, animals, and bodies of water. Then, the moisture turns into vapor. Over time, these vapors are changed into water droplets, and form clouds. After some time, the droplets become too heavy. They then drop down again, and what we call rain happens. The plants, animals, and bodies of water take in that rain and the cycle happens again.”

What Feeh just said interested me. Who knew that this is what actually happens when it rains? I had always thought that clouds were masses of water magic, and eventually they let down rain. I guess I was wrong.

“Feeh, what you said interests me a lot. Can you teach me all the principles of nature so that I can learn chantless magic fast?”

“Hehe! ! I had thought that this would gain your interest, but I never expected it to do so so fast. I thought that it would only pipe your interest after I told you why explosions let out such sound---”

Before Feeh could finish his sentence, I exclaimed, "Wait! You know why explosions are so showy?!! Tell me!!!!”

Feeh looked a bit surprised, but then gradually his surprised expression turned into one of amazement.

“I know that you have a fancy for showy magic and things, but I never thought that it was so strong! Well, since I am your teacher, I guess I should stop being surprised by these things. Okay. I will teach you all the principles of nature that I know.”

Yes! I will learn about why things in nature happen, and those things that I learned will help me master magic. No matter how you look at it, it is a win for me.

A/N: This chapter was a bit short, but I will try to make them longer. Adios!
