Chapter Nine

When Feeh asked me why I was so gloomy at breakfast, I didn’t answer him and strategically moved the conversation in another direction. I asked him what he was going
to do today. Feeh loves to talk about the activities he will be doing later in the day. He is very self-centered, don’t you think. I totally don’t like to talk about my plans for the day as well. Not at all. Nope.

“I will be going to the Le Garden and will be planting a new type of plant. I want to sell it on our journey to the Institute of Magic. That reminds me, we still have
twenty-three months left of our two years here.”

“Yes that’s right. You taught me about magic and the principles of magic in one month. Then I took a day or two off. Then you taught me Krav Maga just yesterday. You
rounded the time we spent, right Feeh?”

“Hehehe! You’re getting smarter! Yes, I did. However, let’s just say that if you are improving at the same rate in Krav Maga as you did in magic, we’ll go earlier than
that. Let me say it like this: If you master Krav Maga in just a few months, we’ll go to the Institute right after. Sounds good?”

“Are you sure? What if I’m not ready? What if I fail the entrance exams if they have them? What if I —”

“Don’t worry about it,” assured Feeh to the nervous me,”It doesn’t really matter, since you won’t need to take entrance exams.”

“I won’t need to take entrance exams? Why?”

“Dummy, they don’t have them! The Institute of Magic is basically a place where anyone can go to learn magic. It is actually a very public place. Of course, there is
a special space inside in which I will be enrolling you in.”

I was so relieved that there weren’t any entrance exams that I didn’t hear the latter part of Feeh’s sentence and just replied, "So there aren’t entrance exams? Great!”

“Yup!”

“Well,” I asked, getting up from my seat,”I am done eating, and I can see that you are, too, so can I go wash your plate?”

“Why, Cadmar, you’ve become such an obedient young man so suddenly! Even asking for my plate so that you can wash it! Oh my!”

“You’re the reason I’ve turned like this! If it wasn’t for your constant nagging, I would be living the ordinary life of a pampered eight year old!”

Even though I grumbled that, I wasn’t really that convincing. I didn’t really mean that. If Feeh wasn’t there, I may have possibly been eaten by some of the monsters
in the forest. I probably wouldn’t be here if that became the case. It seemed as if Feeh also knew what I was thinking, since he gave me a knowing grin.

“Here.”

I took the plate handed to me, and went to the sink that was powered much like the shower. A complex arrangement of pipes and levers pushed water through the tap at
our sink. Feeh and I were the ones who thought up the idea. Not only Feeh, but also me.

The pipes were all made out of orichalcum. The water held a bit of magic, and remember that except for things with magic engravings and our physical bodies, nothing
else can withstand the power of magic. The orichalcum was a special metal with engravings naturally engraved on it.

Come to think of it, I haven’t yet explained how they’re engraved on it, have I? I’ll do it right now while I’m washing the dishes.

I once asked Feeh how the engravings were formed on orichalcum, and in his exact words he said,“The
engravings formed on orichalcum were formed naturally, as you already know. How they form was the question that wasn’t answered for hundreds of years.”

“The discovery of orichalcum was actually very early, in terms of new metals found in the past millennia. It was mined just about three hundred years
ago. At that time, people didn’t know the properties of this rare metal. However, a certain famous wizard researched about the rock, and found out about its properties.”

“This wizard’s words were very reliable, as his fame was so amazing. Suddenly, the want for orichalcum was heightened to a frightening level. You see,
there were very few things that could hold magic. Sure, there were people who could engrave engravings into items, but they were a very scarce bunch. It was also very hard for the engravers to engrave magic words onto items. Magic words already use magic to
be used. To engrave costs magic as well. It is a very tiring occupation, unless, of course, you have a huge mana pool. Very few people have large mana pools. You don’t know what they are right now, as I still haven’t taught you magic yet. You’ll understand
after I teach you magic.”

“Anyways, some people got curious about how the engravings worked. Millions of people researched about the subject. It was one of the most popular
topics that researchers and mages talked about in the past hundred years.”

“Despite the number of people researching orichalcum, not a single person found out the secret to natural engraving. Then, just about a hundred years
prior, the wizard who found orichalcum originally had found out the secret.”

“He had also been involved in many other fields of magic, such as Space-time Magic. The famous wizard was an expert in all kinds of magic, knowing
the most about them in the continent of Malbix. Using that knowledge, the wizard found out about how natural engravings were created on orichalcum.”

“With his research, he had completely learned all that could be learned about dimensions. Dimensions, you already know. He had found and researched
about the core of the dimensions.”(A/N: Think of a nucleus of a cell. That’s what the core of a dimension is like.)

“The famous wizard learned all that was possible about the inner workings of dimensions. The complete details are a bit hard to understand for you,
so I’ll just shorten it. He found out that the core of the dimension held a huge magic power. Though there wasn’t anything in the space around the dimension, the magic power could be used to create things.”

“He hypothesized that the worlds in which intelligent beings live were all made by the natural flow of things. The research I just talked about was
another topic, I’ll talk about that sometime later in the future.”

“When the wizard had found out about the core of dimensions, he’d also found out that there were magic engravings written on the core, though they
were much more complex than the ones we use today
. He spent fifty years working on deciphering the meanings of the engraved words.”

“After about another decade, the wizard had translated everything because he used a very special translating magic. The translating magic was easy
to use and could be used for a long time. The mana pool of the famous wizard was also very large. So why did it take him so long to translate the engravings?”

“It was because the core of a dimension is very large., with the smallest possible size being seven hundred miles large. Every nook and cranny was
filled with engravings; the engravings were very small and numbered over 182 million.  The wizard translated about fifty thousand words each day, for three thousand six hundred fifty days. That equaled reading one hundred eighty-two million, five hundred thousand
words in the ten years.”

“The information he found changed the way we view the world. The engravings on dimension cores were actually engraved by someone or something! Though,
he never disclosed this to the public.”

“Why do you know about it though?”

“It’s because I’m special. Let’s get back to the topic. The engravings all had different functions, but each one had the same goal— to make a watered-down
version of itself.”

“These watered-down versions were much simpler to write and use, but were still complicated. The pseudo engravings were what we called our Magic Words.
He translated all the engravings on the dimension coure and found out a stunning fact! The famous wizard realized one thing at that moment! He realized that everything in the world was made of magic. From the pebbles on the ground to us humans, we were all
created out of magic.”

“That fact contradicted one thing that all people had believed in until now. It had been declared by countless people and expert researchers that anything
that wasn’t made of magic or was not a living being couldn’t withstand the power of magic. That was why a pebble from a road couldn’t hold magic.”

“The fact that the wizard found completely contradicted that statement. He found that everything in the world was made from magic. Then, why wasn’t
everything able to hold magic? The answer, he found it out in the next two years after relentlessly researching and finding facts.”

“The wizard found that the magic was like an inherited thing. The farther you get away from the source, the less likely you are to have it. In us humans,
our magic originates from our souls which are reborn every time we die and are once more covered in magic. That is why we humans can withstand magic seemingly forever.”

“Objects that had engravings on them got a faint connection to the core of a dimension. That faint connection allowed them to once more be able to
withstand magic. Regular things most probably had their magic slowly washed away as more of them got older and turned to dust.”

“Magic also has a weakness and can evaporate. That is why creatures can die of old age. The magic covering their soul will evaporate and the soul will
escape. Then starts the process of reincarnation. Of course, you don’t know anything about this topic, yet.”

“You may think that I ventured away from the main topic about how magic engravings form on orichalcum, but I didn’t. You need to know those facts to
have a thorough understanding about the reason. Okay, I’ll start explaining how engravings form on orichalcum.”

“You see, when a dimension core absorbs another dimension core when they collide, it becomes bigger. If a core gets too big, then it must deflate.
If it didn’t, then many things may be affected in the rest of the world. Those changes may bring about a great calamity to everything. That may ruin the dimension.”

“To prevent it, the core must chip off some of itself. Yes, the core has a bit of thought. It is unable to do anything other than managing the dimension,
though. The chipped off pieces are…….. can you believe it……. Orichalcum!”

“As you already know, the core of a dimension is covered in countless engravings. Some engravings are not as complicated as others. That means that
the efficiency of those uncomplicated engravings are also not as high. That is why they are chipped off and turned into orichalcum. The orichalcum doesn't have any complicated engravings on it. “

“Um, Feeh, I get that you are explaining a lot of things, but, um, didn’t you forget to tell me what the engravings on a dimension core, um, do?”

“I forgot to mention what these engravings on a dimension core do! They help it function. You see, the dimension core manages everything that happens
in its dimension. Some things that it manages are the weather and climate, population, and etc..”

“Without a dimension core, a world would turn into a large mess very quickly. The engravings may force wind to move in a certain direction, create
wind, have crops blossom, have them die, things like that.”

“Oh.”

“Well, Cadmar, I better go! Bye, see you at breakfast tomorrow!”

Right before Feeh was about to leave, I asked him,”Wait!
What was this famous wizard’s name?”

I had been really curious about the person.

Feeh had looked back at me with a serious expression on his face. Also, the expression held a tinge of sadness.

“The wizard didn’t disclose his name to others. He had a nickname, though. The nickname was “Wrath”. He got nicknamed that because he once wiped out
an entire country after he lost something important to him. Some things were holding him back and punishment was in store, but he didn’t care and wiped the country from history. No one was left alive, not a single person. From the elderly to the newly-borns,
everyone died. The buildings were turned to dust, and only ruins could be seen everywhere in the territory of the kingdom.”

Saying that, Feeh had walked away. I also never asked him about the wizard ever again.

I’m done cleaning the dishes! Let’s see, I’ll go play with the monsters today or I could go to the library. I’ll go play with the monsters. That reminds me, I forgot
to ask Feeh what those crossed out names were about. I thought that I’d be able to at noon yesterday, but Feeh started to ruthlessly train me and I never got the chance to ask him about them. I’ll ask him tomorrow, since we don’t have dinner.

Feeh and I only have one meal time and eat nothing else for the rest of the day. We only eat breakfast, and that’s it for the day. You see, the vegetables and fruits
we eat are grown with water that is created from magic that seeps into the foods. That goes for the plants.

The meat we eat is from monsters in the forest, which are able to use magic and whose meat contains magic as well. Sure, most of the monsters here are undead, but some
are actual monsters. Because there aren’t a lot of monsters in our forest, we rarely eat meat. If we do, we eat some meat from dragons or the like.

I’ve been going on and on about the food we eat containing magic, but what’s the big deal, you ask? Well, magic can nourish everything it touches. Just one bite of a
food that contains magic is like taking twenty bites out of regular food. The nourishment is intense. (A/N: *Cue dramatic music*) I can barely eat breakfast, and if we were to eat lunch or dinner as well, I-I wouldn’t make it.

I sometimes have lunch at times, but it only goes as far as drinking some tea. ………………………

It was still pretty early in the morning when I went out to the stable where Feeh and I house the monsters. I walked towards the red stable and pushed open the green
doors. The stable looks more like a barn than a stable, but Feeh and I like to call it a stable, so stable it is.

Inside, I saw the two Lendren Runners laying in a bed that had been made for them. Both are twin females. If only they were a male and a female. They would do “that”
and we’d get more Lendren Runners.

I think I know what you’re thinking. Are you thinking that since the Lendren Runners were just like humans, keeping them as pets was a form of slavery? However, the
answer is no. It’s because they are still too young, so even if we set them free, the Runners would get eaten very quickly.

When Fenny and
Georgina, their names, get older, we’ll ask them if they want to keep staying with us or not. Of course, we will treat them more like
humans as they age. In fact, as soon as the two learn to take a humanoid form, Feeh and I will give them clothes, food, and a shelter. Then we will teach them how to do humanoid things. What happens after that is their decision.

This isn’t a problem for the Piffy Lugs, though. Each of the seven Piffy Lugs are older than Fenny and Georgina. Even though they can’t have
a humanoid form, the Piffy Lugs can still speak. Originally, we only had two Piffy Lugs.

It just so happens that they were a male and a female. After a series of events, two twins were born the very next day from when we adopted
the first two Piffy Lugs. Then another one was born two weeks later. The third week from when we adopted the mother and father Piffy Lugs, twins were born once more.

It’s been two years since the last twins were born and Feeh and I think that there won’t be any more for a while. Even so, we’re still doubtful
about that hypothesis. The father and mother have assured us that there won’t be more, but still….

The Piffy Lugs have already learned how to speak in the human language, but are unable to have a humanoid form. The family of Piffy Lugs agreed
to serve under us, like retainers. I can’t imagine how creatures that are only about three feet tall and look like a cylinder can be of help. Sure, the Piffy Lugs have arms and legs, but they aren’t very long. The arms and feet are only one foot long, perfect
for digging, yet useless for a lot of other things.

Feeh said that they’re useful and allowed them to serve us, so I just agreed with him. He is afterall, the oldest person among us. He’s probably in his fifties or sixties,
but he doesn’t have a single wrinkle on his skin. He was most probably an Ikemen1 when
he was in school.

The red eyes make him look fierce, and the girls back in his days may have also thought that. Alas, the reality is far different from expectations. The fierce-looking
Feeh stumbles on underwear…. so sad. Also, the beard that he’d had before we started training was ruining his image.

When we started to train in Krav Maga yesterday, Feeh had not a single tuft of fuzz on his chinny chin chin. (A/N: *Smiles*) He did that to have better movement, since,
ya know, a beard that can touch your boots can hinder movement! He also rarely wears a wizard’s hat, nowadays. I wonder why? I think that I’m really questioning everything in and around my life, aren’t I?

“Camar?”

It seems that Fenny noticed I was there. She got up on her two orange legs and ran towards me. The air pressure was building up as she got closer. I spread my hands
out as if to tackle Fenny. At the moment that she came close enough, I hugged her, stopping her sprinting.

“Camar! Camar!”

“So fluffy as always~~ Ah~~”

I felt complete, hugging this ball of soft fur that had just run towards me. If you looked at the Lendren Runners while they were sleeping, you’d notice that they looked
like a ball of fluff. Their heads were tucked into the softness of their body, just like their legs. (A/N: *Intense stare* Eureka! A turtle!)

There was a movement from where Fenny had come from, and then another,”Camar!”

Georgina had noticed me as well, after being awakened from her sleep. Just like her sister, she also ran towards me. I put down Fenny back onto the ground and prepared
for the catch of Georgina.

I slightly bent my legs then I stretched my hands outwards. I put more pressure on my calf muscles so that I wouldn’t stumble back when I caught Georgina. I looked at
the blob of fluffiness bounding towards me, ready for the impact.

“Oof!”

I caught her! (A/N: Could YOU do the same? A creature that is as fast as a dragon and is as large as a horse, could you catch it? Let’s just say that dragons are a million
times faster than any supercar we’ve ever invented. And you are only eight and some months old….)

“Camar! Camar!”

“C’mon! I’m getting buried in your feathers! Stop it, it’s tickling me! Hahahahah! Hahahaha!”

With my face stuck in Georgina’s feathers, it was getting tickled. Let me tell you, I’m very ticklish! I can tickle myself and I’d still laugh. If someone else were
to tickle me, I don’t know what I’d do.

Georgina’s feathers wrapped around my face, and tickled so much that I couldn’t stop laughing. In a way, Georgina was hugging me. Her wings were like arms, pushing me
into her chest. (A/N: *Pervy stare* You know what that would be if Georgina was human….)

“~Why is it so fluffy~? ~It’s so soft, so soft~. Wait! I need to get a hold of myself!”

I really wanted to keep being smothered in Georgina’s feathers, but I wanted to play with her and Fenny. I wouldn’t be able to do it tomorrow because of chores and the
Krav Maga practice. I really want to vent my stress by playing with them. (A/N: Yes, the theme was completely intended. It’s just my way of being more into birds and bees while still keeping it in balance and making it for all ages. Sorry for all these author
notes. I’ll stop doing them now.)

“Huuuu! Camar! Lok ear!"

I got my face out of Georgina’s feathers and looked towards Fenny, and realized that she had a pout on her face. The circular head’s eyes were a bit squinted, with the
beak being in a pout. Don’t tell me she’s jealous? It was a possibility.

……...

Feeh had found the twins all alone in the middle of the forest when he was getting dragon meat, and they were still yet to hatch. He brought the eggs back and told me
that we were going to raise them. I was about six at the time and hadn’t ever taken care of anything except for the Piffy Lugs, though they were already basically adults when they were adopted by us. I felt very excited at the prospect of getting to raise
more monsters.

The day after Feeh brought the Lendren Runner eggs home, both hatched. We had placed them in the stable which had originally been created for the Piffy Lugs. As a coincidence,
I was tending to them when they hatched. At that moment, the eggs breaking caused me to panic. I thought that I’d accidentally broken them.

You can’t blame me, I’d only ever raised the Piffy Lugs. The Piffy Lugs were basically mammals, because they were given birth to. The Lendren Runners were already in
an egg when we got them. I think that Feeh thought that I knew about how birds and the like hatch, but I didn’t. I still hadn’t gotten to the section about birds in the library.

You can imagine how panicked I was at the moment that Fenny and Georgina’s eggs hatched. I watched in tense nervousness as the white egg and the black egg both started
cracking. I was just about to run towards the hut and call for Feeh to help me when the eggs burst apart completely. I did not wet myself. I didn’t, not at all. Get that thought out of your head!

I quickly forgot my panic when I saw the creatures that came out of the eggs. From the black egg came a black blob of fur. From the white egg came a white blob of fur.
They were complete opposites of each other.

The black creature quickly surveyed its surroundings, while the white creature tried to get back into its egg. The black creature finally looked towards me. It stared
straight into my eyes, and I was mesmerized. The eyes held a certain air of smartness that can only be found among those that are of an intelligent species.

I stared at the creature and it stared right back. We were about three feet apart, but it felt as if the distance was only a couple of inches. Time stopped. I couldn’t
stand it anymore and jumped at the cute ball of fluffiness. The black creature didn’t expect it and didn’t move in time.

As soon as I got to the creature that looked like a bird, I stretched my arms out and grabbed it to pull into a tight hug. I couldn’t just stand there and look while
there was a complete ball of fluffiness in front of me, don’t you understand? I was only six, and was still into stuffed monsters. I just couldn’t resist.

“Ahhh~,” I let out that sound as I held the warm creature in my arms. The warmth of it and its softness completely mesmerized me. The thoughts in my head were all goofy
at that moment. Things like “Can something this soft and huggable exist anywhere in this universe?” and “So soft!” were on my mind. I had even forgotten about the puddle undernea— what puddle?! I didn’t do anything!

Of course, the black creature didn’t sit still as well. Thinking that I was going to harm it, the bird-looking thing struggled to get out of my arms. The sister also
came out, looking frightened. That wouldn’t do! I decided that I needed to show them that I wasn’t there to bring harm.

My hand went to the small black creature’s arm and I petted its head. The creature still struggled, but my hand was bigger than its head. I kept petting it, trying to
calm it down. I guess that it liked the petting, as it soon stopped struggling as much.

To the creature, I whispered,”It’ll be alright. I’m not going to hurt you or your sister. Shh. Calm down. It’s going to be alright.”

I kept assuring the bird thing that I wasn’t going to hurt it, nor its sister. I knew that the white egg contained a female because Feeh told me. He said he used magic
to find out the gender, however, he couldn’t figure out the black egg’s gender. He didn’t know why.

Slowly, the black creature started to accept my petting. It squinted its eyes in enjoyment. I kept assuring it that its fate was going to be fine. After a bit of time,
it was the creature that wanted me to pet her, not me.The creature’s sister started to grow curious. She started to bite the bottom of the leg part of my pants. She tugged, trying to get my attention. I looked at her and saw that her eyes were the same as
her sibling— containing intelligence.

Though not as bold as the black creature, the sister was also a tiny bit adventurous. She had gotten curious about why the black creature seemed to feel so good. That
was why she tugged my pants to get attention.

I thought that she was a bit of an introvert, unlike her sibling who was an extrovert. That fact was proven correct later. She was also a bit jealous. No matter what
she had, she didn’t mind if her sibling used it or not. However, if her sibling had something and she didn’t, she would beg us to give the same thing to her.

I later ended up petting both creatures and then calling Feeh over to explain what happened. He found out that the black creature was a female. We then named the two
sisters. The black-furred one was named Georgina and the white-furred one was named Fenny. I found out about Fenny’s jealousy at a later date. It happened in a catastrophic way. I’ll maybe tell you about it a bit later. They also grew at an alarming rate…..*Chuckles*

…….

“Camar! Camar! Mee well! Mee well!”

Oops. I got lost in reminiscing about the past! Fenny was urgently telling me to give her a hug just like I did with Georgina, she even had both her wings spread out.
It’s too cute! Too cute! I need to hug the life out of the fluffy little cutie!

“Yus, mmmmmm. Camar feel warm~~”

“Well, you do as well. You’re so soft!”

“Fenny is glad!”

“So cute!”

“Camar! Me?”

“Oh, of course Georgina. Come right over.”

“Yay!”

Saying that, the large Georgina came barging at me. I opened one arm and gave the abdomen of both Lendren Runners a hug. It was only two years ago that I could pick
up both of them only using my fingers.

They were just like baby chicks when they hatched. Now, I can barely pet their heads. Life goes by really fast, don’t you think? In our lives, we should enjoy everything
we have and will get. There may be difficult things in your life that may annoy you, but you can overcome them! For example, I almost overcame the bumping this morning! You can do great as well!

I was having those philosophical thoughts right now because of the immense happiness I was feeling. With both fluff balls in my arms, I felt complete. Although, I still
hadn’t seen the Piffy Lugs yet. I realized, but it had barely been a few minutes since I’d stepped into the barn, but I was already so happy.

I believe that my happiness stemmed from the feeling of having taken care of these two monsters when I was a kid. I took care of all of their needs. Sometimes, Feeh
was the one who took care of them for a bit, but I mostly did it. He’d allowed me to roam freely for the past month because I was learning something that was supposed to be hard to learn.

I also wanted to try more hobbies, but in the end, I still got drawn into this barn where the creatures that I’d raised lived in. You could basically call me these Lendren
Runner’s father. I potty-trained them, taught them how to speak, and a lot of other things. I guess I feel happy seeing that they’re growing up?

………..

Meanwhile, inside the Lendren Runners’ thoughts.

Fenny: I love Cadmar! I won’t let Georgina have him! How can I show him my charm? Think! Think! Well, I haven’t yet manifested my human form yet, so
none of the plans will work anyways! I also haven’t yet mastered my usage of vocal cords, so I only sound like a child when I speak to him! I’m so embarrassed! This cute boy who’s been taking care of me and Georgina all this time, I guess it can’t be helped
that I've fallen for him. But why did my idiotic sister also have to as well!? Argh! No plan will work! How to seduce him, how to seduce him! Fuuuuuuu! I guess my only option is to act all innocent and all to deceive both my sister and Cadmar. However, if
that idiotic sister of mine dares to get in my way……. Hahahahahaha! Hehehehehehehehe! She won’t see daylight!

Georgina: I can’t let Fenny have him! That shy and introverted sister of mine isn’t fit to be with him! Only me, a smart female, is allowed to mate
with him! His handsomeness, his walk, his posture, the best husband material! As soon as I get my human form, I will quickly learn how to use my vocals really well! I will seduce him! How to do so, oh how do I do it? Shoot! I still don’t have enough leeway
in changing forms that I can show him my curves! Can’t he see that I love him?! I pull him in and hug him directly into my chest! Just thinking about it makes me embarrassed! I can’t do anything in this form, so I guess I must keep acting as if I am a bit
of a rushed person! I need to fool Cadmar and my sister! That introverted sister of mine dares to try to seduce Cadmar? I will show her who's boss! Heheheheheh! Hhahahahahahaha! If she tries to take Cadmar from me, she will not hear the morning song of the
birds!

Women are scary…..

…………………...

A/N: That is the end of the chapter! It was long, wasn’t it? 5k words!

1: An ikemen is a person that is very good looking, particularly male. You should know that if you’ve read a lot of light novels. The novels needed to be Japanese since
ikemen is a Japanese word introduced around the year 2000.

Also, Feeh is said like “Fay”, in case you mispronounced his name.

Should I start doing fun facts at the end of every chapter? Let me do a trial run to see if you like it.

“A sneeze can travel one hundred miles per hour and can spread about a hundred thousand germs into the air,” said CadmarLegend-Senpai to his readers. Cheerio!

If this thing works, then the picture is what the first floor floor plan looks like for the hut

It didn't....

What about this?

If this one works, then the picture is of the first floor of the hut.
