Chapter 0061

“The girl is turning back. Hurry up and surround her.” A bandit eager for wealth ordered his companions.

“Members of the Thunder Lions pull back.” An astute leader of a mercenary band ordered. Unless they have a specific plan, a trump card or a certainty of winning, preys run away from their pursuers.

When a prey runs back, it means they are cornered, have a plan or there is a bigger predator in front of them. Either way, the leader of the Thunder Lions did not want to sacrifice his people for a foolish endeavor.

The other bandit groups with intelligent leaders also pulled back, leaving the idiots blinded by greed to blindly rush forward.

Looking at the current situation, Tempest knew better than to start off with a combination spell. The minute she turned back, those sensitive to danger already pulled back. If she were to make a big move now, she’d only exhaust herself killing the small fries while the stronger cultivators swarm in.

“Vibrating Wind Blade, modified Ice Bolt, Lightning Strike.” Tempest cast her strongest one circle spells back to back.

Vibrating Wind Blade is the name of the modified Wind Blade. Tempest wanted to change the name of the modified Wind Blade, but she couldn’t since the spirits have always used that name for the properties Tempest modified the spell with.

“Vibrating Wind Blade sounds like a vibrator high on the juice from the Energizer bunny.”

What did you say?

“Nothing.”

I hope it continues to be nothing.

The red mage shut her mouth, all the while praying the modified Ice Bolt has a better name. She can't help it if vibrating and vibrator sounds the same!

Tempest added a second property to the spell Ice Bolt - spiral. The spell Ice Bolt creates a sharp block of ice and hurls it towards the intended target. In Tempest’s modified version, instead of regularly flying to the target, it spirals like a drill towards the target.

The red mage thought of the modified version a while ago, yet she never had the chance to test out the new spell. She was perfecting the Vibrating Wind Blade, then before she had a chance to use the modified Ice Bolt, she had to learn Illusion for Jean.

The bandits hit with Vibrating Wind Blades got their body cut in half. Those hit with the modified Ice Bolts have holes in their body, while Lightning Strike electrocutes them.

Tempest noted with satisfaction, “Humans have weaker bodies than the Iron Clawed Wolves.”

You need to be more efficient. At the rate of mana consumption, you would run out of mana before you kill everyone here.

“Any ideas?”

That is for you to determine.

Tempest considered her options as she mowed down the bandits with her spells. These bandits crop up like army ants lured by the taste of sweet sugar. She can continue to kill them individually, but her mana consumption is too high per bandit killed. She can use the combined spell she created earlier, but she never cast it before so she doesn’t know if it can take out all the bandits.

Her only choice is to lower her mana consumption rate. Tempest came up with the idea earlier. She didn’t want to implement it because it goes against the idea of what a mage is. Now she has no choice.

The red mage cast As Swift as the Wind and Flash Step on herself then prepared herself for another round of killing. As she ran by the bandits, she touched them, directly inserting the spell inside their body.

If Tempest touched them near the throat or the waist, she’d cast Vibrating Wind Blade. The bandits either got cut in half or got their heads chopped off. The throat and waist are not protected by bones so it is easier for the Vibrating Wind Blade to kill them. If she touches them on the chest, they get pierced with the modified Ice Bolt. Anywhere else, they get electrocuted.

As Tempest suspected, the new method of attack requires less mana per cast.

The effectiveness of her attack is explained by size and momentum. Both the Vibrating Wind Blade and the modified Ice Bolt require the mage to create the elements out of their mana then hurl it towards their target at an extremely fast rate. The larger the spell, the more mana it takes. The further the mage has to throw the spell, the more mana it takes.

Tempest wondered if she can insert the spell directly into the body of the target when she attacks them physically. She never tried it before because the theory requires her to get close to her assailant and braves the dangers there.

If there was a bandit proficient in martial arts and/or had a speed skill then Tempest might be in trouble.

Luckily these bandits are low-level cultivators. High-level cultivators can pass the test set by the Brilliant Yin Sect themselves. They don’t need to stoop so low as to kill a young girl for her token.

Blood littered the ground, turning into a river as the bodies piled higher than a mountain.

Tempest's killing efficiency is staggering. She was able to cut Vibrating Wind Blade and modified Ice Bolt mana requirement by ¾ and Lightning Strike by half. The concept of size and momentum barely apply to Lightning Strike.

By now the bandits lying in wait for her up head realized she had turned back, so they gave up the element of surprise to give chase to Tempest only to come upon the scene of carnage.

“You killed them all you evil little witch.” a newly arrived bandit yelled in righteousness. A few of the new bandits turned around and vomited their meals. These were hardened thieves who looted and plundered as they wanted for the last several decades. Which bandit didn’t see bloodshed and massacre? They wouldn’t be successful bandits if they didn’t kill. Despite this, the bandits never saw a scene like this. There were body parts everywhere as blood soaked the earth.

Tempest sneered back, “Don’t think you have justice on your side. A bunch of men setting up a trap to ambush a little girl. Do you have any shame?” Tempest might have felt a little guilt over her savage method. She wouldn't use it if there were any other choices, but the hypocritical accusation of the bandits wiped away any remorse she felt. Now she intends to kill every last one of them.

“You could have left their bodies intact.”

“In a battle, you kill or be killed. Who cares about the method? Don’t tell me they wouldn’t have raped then killed me if I lost?”

Everyone knew that would have been the little girl’s fate if she was caught. Instead of being killed, she might have been sold to a brothel.

“Brothers let’s kill the little witch and take revenge for our fallen comrades.”

Chorus of “kills the slut” and “kill the witch” rang out yet no one made a move. They were nothing more than cowards who have egged their comrades forward yet when the time comes, they cower in the back.

“Since you want to die so much, I’ll personally send you to hell.” Tempest sneered then released the combined spell.

Torrents of water followed by eddies of the wind and quick lightning strikes surrounded Tempest then swiftly expand, engulfing all the bandits within a 10 km radius. The chaotic power of the storm killed all the bandits within seconds, leaving nothing but devastation behind.

Tempest laughs madly as she stood in the eye of the storm.

Sanctimonious righteous bastards deserve to die.

Nothing was left intact when the spell finished its effect. Trees were uprooted, stones were shattered, bodies were cut into pieces, and all the storage devices were destroyed.

Storage devices destroyed?

A wailed filled utmost grievance filled the air.

“Damn it. The spell destroyed my spoils!”
