2nd Tekulach of Meruriel 1205

Royal meeting hall of the council or Argos

2.00 pm

Petrasha's POV

" And that concludes today's council meeting. Lord Silveraxe you shall be heading towards the kingdom of Yarkania for diplomatic measure and to gift them one set of ManaCom for communication purposes. Leadikurl you will be heading towards the kingdom of Sandra for the same purpose. Tinikaru you shall prepare the materials needed to prepare the new defense with Kuprudia. Petrasha you shall continue as we planned and prepare our defense against the human navy. Everyone to your post now! " Paelishier said

" WE SHALL FORGE OUR PATH TO PROSPERITY" every council member except Ganmol shouted. As he isn't even here.

As we all went out of the council hall, Paelishier called out to me.

" Little Tasha, don't overwork yourself alright? Sometimes you young kids can leave these jobs to us old men," he said while patting my back...

"I'm not a young dwarf anymore Lord Paelishier... I know my own limits... " I said to him. Everyone in the council is treating me like a young kid... Though that's pretty normal. After all, until now I am the youngest High Dwarf ever to be born in the Argerious kingdom at the young age of 23. All these old men here are probably at the age of over 300 till 800. I heard Lord Paelishier is even over 2300 years old... Cause from what I heard. He joined the war against the humans, and that is like more than a thousand years earlier... since this calendar is based on the year the humans are forced back to the Hikurat continent. Well, I don't want to think just how long will Lord Paelishier is going to live. He is like a totally different race from me already. From what I heard from the other council members, Lord Paelishier is  Royal High Dwarf, it is way more levels higher than mine and even he himself already forgot about the methods to evolve into that race. So I can rest assured that I will never be able to evolve to that! Since well, that would mean more responsibilities. I just want to live peacefully with my pals.

The new defense system is similar to artilleries back on Earth, where we would first aim the projection and then launch the ammunition towards the enemy ships. Because from what we have observed from them, they are still mostly using wooden ships. I haven't even see anything that is iron-related from them. So it is safe to assume they haven't even reached the late iron age. Though being able to create ships that are able to cross the sea with that kind of technology is an incredible feat anyways. The ammunition for the artillery will be a cannonball with lavastone as its core. Though lavastone itself will not set things on fire, it is extremely volatile. This is why throwing them to the enemy ships would make it explode and burn their ships. Well, that is wishful thinking anyways.

Well just by thinking about the plans for the new weapons I have reached home... At least what I wanted to say my home. Ever since that leech called Christine start living here... It doesn't feel like my home anymore... It's good that I can afford maids to help tidy up the house...

" Welcome back Lord Petrasha. I apologize for the mess in here..." One of the maids said.

"It's normal, it's that girl after all... *sigh*," I said to her.

" Oi Christine! Get ready! We need to go to your class now!" I yelled to her. Even now, I am still trying to knock some knowledge into her.

... No reply.

" Get down here readied up or no dinner for today!" I yelled.

" Coming!" Ok, there's a reply now... at least food is attractive to her... if not even I would be out of ideas on how to get her to study...

" Seriously... You just want to eat stuff right..." I said to her.

" Teehee~"... can I say the sentence that a certain emergency food ration mascot said.

" I thought you were interested in human history... I heard Lucy that you have been nagging her to tell you that..." I told her.

" Yup. I want to know why humans are so hated by every other race. I mean aren't you interested? We are former humans after all!" she said.

" Don't lump me with you... Human history is a must in order to join the council... So whatever they're teaching you today I already knew it years ago... I'm only joining you because of Lucy telling me to make sure to watch you study..." I said.

" Awww don't just listen to her boring nagging~ Go do your stuff if you are that busy then~ I will be fine on my own!" she said. I am definitely sure that if I take my eyes off you, I will be in a hell of trouble later. I know what happened to you after Lucy left you alone at Edolophini.

" Anyways let's go, I don't want to waste time arguing with you. It's pointless doing that." I said while dragging Christine with me.

Heart Forge Community Hall

Petrasha's POV

" Strange, Mr. Thorkuel should be here already," I said

"That's why I told you not to rush things, Petry~," Christine said.

" Shut up with your nickname. You don't deserve to call me that way. Call me that once you finished the dwarven advanced education. Until then you cannot call me by any nicknames you lazy shit." I said towards Christine with a scornful voice.

" Don't be so harsh on your friends Petry girl. Friends should be good to each other you know." I heard a sound and i know who that is.

" Tell that to yourself when you nearly killed Lord Ganmol because he said you're old and single," I said and it seems to be a critical hit as i can see him grabbing his chest.

" You also need to respect the elderly you know." Lord Paelisher said.

" You are fine if you can match up with me," I replied. Although Lord Paelisher is the oldest one in here, everything except his age is young.

" Anyways, today Mr. Thorkuel will be handling some other stuff and I will be teaching your friend here on the history of the humans. It would be better to hear it from one who fought the war with the humans anyway," he said. In reality, he just pushed his work onto Mr. Thorkuel and just want to have fun with my friends right... I can see how this is going... The elderly will expose the young ones' secrets in front of their friends and make it embarrassing for them. BUT the difference here is that I only lived here for 5 years! So it doesn't apply to me! Hopefully.

We walked towards our usual room to study, Lord Paelisher sat on one of the sofas while me and Christine sat on the couch.

" Before we start our lessons, young Christine, I am Lord Paelisher Crownhammer, number one council member of the Council of Argos and the de facto king of the Kingdom of Argerios. Nice to meet you," he said to Christine while releasing a strong aura.

" N- n- nice too meet yuou-" ah... she bit her tongue... I almost laughed oops.

" So, tell me Christine, what do you know about human history that is not from Earth," Paelisher asked. Straight to the point.

" Er, we hate them a lot for some reason?" Christine answered. A short answer.

" Not quite. Sure we hate them, but more as they cannot be allowed to survive in this world. You see, the continent that the humans currently lived in, the Hikurat continent was originally a continent with no sentient beings living on it. Even plants took several centuries to adapt and slowly grow through the continent. The reason for this is because every living being in Astrea requires mana to survive. Mana is akin to the air as we need them to maintain our bodies. The mana in the air will assist in our regeneration and also sometimes boost our capabilities. Because of that, the continent remained lifeless for centuries. The gods are not happy that one part of the world does not have living beings when even the harshest volcano and the deepest sea have some inhabitants. So they requested the gods from other worlds to see if they could find a species that could live in that manaless situation. Various species have been brought through worlds in order to survive that environment. A lot of those didn't manage to prosper and some even outright died. Those who barely survived managed to adapt to the surroundings and make them require far less mana to live. These are what we currently call the Necroids. Petrasha, explain what are necroids." Lord Paelisher said. OI don't throw the baton at me!

" Well, the necroids are a unique species that as Lord Paelisher said, they do not need much mana to survive. Compared to us where if there is no mana, we would die, for the Necroids, if there is no mana, it would only mean that they will not regenerate. They would still be able to perform their daily chores normally. Though the downside to this is that, because that they do not require too much mana to survive, they also take longer to regenerate. Their body is not used to a situation where mana is plentiful, so they would only be able to take little mana in before going into mana berserk." I said

" In short, they are like normal humans except they can get little mana to regenerate themselves compared to the humans who can't take in any mana to regenerate themselves." OI if you are going to condense my explanation like that don't call me to explain in the first place!

" Because of this, the necroids prefer a climate where mana concentrations are lower but not totally null. In this condition, the polar continents became their choices of habitation. The mana concentration in those two continents is almost a quarter less than the other continents. The second reason they live on those two continents is also because of the temperature there. Directly regenerating a missing limb would take a lot of mana to regenerate. But if it's only reconnecting a disconnected limb, the mana expenditure is way lower. And the decomposition rate in the polar continents is also way lower due to its temperature. Which is why the Necroids like to live there." Paelisher said. Good thing that Christine is interested in other races that she is able to focus on for now.

" After the Necroids, several more species are brought in. One of them is the humans." which I added. " Specifically, the humans from what seems to be Medieval England. From what data I can gather, their structures have high similarities to the architecture in Medieval England. Though they might have changed their architecture due to the time that has passed since then."

" Back to the humans. Because they came from a planet where mana is outright missing, they are able to live better than the other beings. I used the word better because compared to a lot of other beings, humans are much weaker than them as they are not able to use mana to reinforce their bodies. The humans are only able to use their own crafts to defend themselves against the weather as well, there is no wildlife there. So the only problem they faced is the weather. The humans at that time live in an isolationist nation as they did not explore past the seas, only holding to their coasts. They also didn't go inland as food is scarce there due to having no wild animals. Their settlements grow based on the coast and also the rivers. When they found other continents, their treatment of us is quite mediocre. We even have discussions about immigration and trades. It is until when most of the cities band up and form a single empire, they then start to act hostile towards us. They start to claim that we are demons and hellspawns from their bible and start to organize crusades onto us two continents. War started to broke out as they start to kill indiscriminately against us non-humans. Then they start to use slogans as humans are the superior species and other races are all filths and push even further in their attempt to eliminate us. It is then we start to attempt to push them out of our continents.  That is when they start to use even deadlier weapons. They start to use weapons that not only are deadly to us but also deadly to the world too. These weapons of theirs corrupt the mana in the air. Any being that breaths in this corrupted mana will start to first have symptoms akin to mana berserk. But then it went even further as those who are corrupted are then compiled to only kill every other being that has mana in them." Paelisher said and looked at me. Why the heck do you want me to explain things???? Is this a joke for you?

" Urgh. Until now we still don't know what caused that incident or even how the humans managed to corrupt the mana, all we know that because of that incident the demons lost a lot of their population. Even on our continent, the damage isn't small too. But-"

" But what really pull the trigger, is when the humans somehow managed to manufacture a huge mana bomb and threw it at the Kraak island. The Kraak island is populated by a lot of merfolk, sirens, and a lot of aquatic-based life forms. With this explosion, almost 80% of those species got eliminated. Even the leviathans who are normally dormant also rise up and started to attack the humans. Because of this what was originally just a war to defend ourselves, became an all-out war against humans. At that time. nearly all of the humans in the Zarcara continent are rallied up and are to face execution. The Desarrkti continent on the other hand issued an order to kill all humans on sight. But the humans did not end there. They created another explosion of similar magnitude in the continent of Yskrasidria, laying waste to an entire forest of dryads, ents, and treants. Because of this nearly all other races, except the necroids joined the war against the humans... the reason I will let Petrasha explain later.  There is one major problem that we face when we fight them. We cannot enter their mainland. The most we can do is to bombard their coastal cities until only ruins remain. The moment we attempt to enter the continent, the lack of mana made us feel suffocating." Paelisher ended and handed me the baton again.

" The reason on why the necroids didn't join, is because the humans used the necroids as experiments for the mana-berserk experimentation. Many necroids were sacrificed by the humans to create the corrupted mana and because of that, many necroids at that time went into hiding. They cannot afford to be found by humans in order to avoid being experimented with again. This is why they avoided the war." I said

" At the end of the war, a lot of our kin were killed. So as a memorial to that, we created a new calendar.

" I now know the hardship of royalties... to need to study so many things.." Christine said.

" YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT" both me and Paelisher yelled. So you can also act like that huh.

Phew~ This is probably my longest chapter until now. I literally have to rewrite this several times as I'm not happy with how I explained the necroids and the humans. In the end, I choose this one as it best explained them both.

For the answer of where Lumium is from, it is a metal in a mod called Thermal Foundation from Minecraft. The creators of it said it's a reference for the Latin word Lumen. So there we go~
