Author Note : This story takes a different point of view, Groln, village's head chief

("What is this? Is this a wolf?")
("No, it can't be. I've seen baby wolves before. This definitely isn't one of their kind.")
My daughter interrupted my train of thoughts snapping me out of my confusion, "Father, can I keep him? He's so adorable!"
I don't think keeping this little thing will be a problem. Pets can be good and my daughter, Laila, will be able to mature better if she properly takes care of whatever the little animal is.
Still, it seems approachable enough that it is unusual, "You can keep him... so you already checked its gender?"
Laila replied back happy she can keep a pet now then asked my elder son, "Yay! Hey, Rolth, what do you think little wolf eats?"

I'm also contemplating as Rolth might be thinking about the little pup's diet.
Rolth answers unsure, "I don't really know, but it might be able to eat vegetables?... it looks too small to hunt. Also, are you going to call it little wolfy when it's not a wolf?"

Laila started looking away, trying to contemplate on a better name for the little pup, "Of course not. I want to give him a good name."

After a bit of thinking she gave away a name on impulse I'm guessing, "Oh, I think I'll call him Fel!" which I don't believe is bad.
"Little Fel... take good care of him. We can't take too long here, we should probably get going already.", reminding myself about what we're out here to do, I also remind everyone else.
Without saying much more and dissipating our groups back to what we were, we separated and spread out a bit as my group walks slower to keep watch over my daughter's group. What we were in the middle of is a bit of patrolling while also giving our kin some experience while we're at it as well. It's quite a serious issue, especially with goblins being sighted recently. The kids with me are a bit disappointed but we can't waste too much time playing with Fel until we get back home safely.
While we're moving, I had noticed how Fel is... how should I say this?... different perhaps?... With the change in atmosphere, the creature also noticed something.
Usually an animal would do its own thing or be a bit of a distraction but Laila is carrying Fel with no problem and she stopped paying too much attention on him since she's trying to pay attention to her surroundings.
A thought came up into my head, ("Is Fel already experienced enough to maybe even help us?"), but I dismissed it since he looks small, perhaps very young, but a lot of my reasons don't seem to make sense of Fel.
The area sounds quiet, but not too quiet. The birds are chirping so there shouldn't be anything around so far for now as this is ordinary while traveling out. I do not really think we'll end up encountering anything today at this rate but it might be too early to say.

My friend and partner for this trip, Allen, called out to me now that enough time has passed, "Groln, we should probably just head back now and let the kids settle down."
I take a look at Tim and Bert who are being watched over by Ophelia and she appears to be trying to put them in line.
Reflecting about the situation and acknowledging Allen's statement, I'm also thinking a little too much about Fel probably that I didn't notice to help Ophelia out with the kids starting to misbehave too much on this trip, "Ah, yea, let's go hurry up and regroup then we can go back home."
Tim and Bert would get excited to reunite already, they try pulling at Ophelia's hands wanting to hurry over to Laila since she's holding Fel.
I hurry my pace as well so we don't get left behind, trying to catch up to them as Ophelia a bit helplessly gets dragged along by the kids, chiding them a bit, "You two can't be like this when we're out in the forest. I'll let it go this time but when we go again you two have to not be this distracted. It can be really dangerous! I'll have to tell your mothers next time something like this happens..."
They really must have pushed her a bit too much, I don't need to join in, she has it handled now.
Allen would then talk to me a bit while we're side by side now, "Hey, what do you think about Fel? Isn't he unusual?"
Of course I agreed about Fel, "Definitely, an animal like that is abnormal.", we likely had similar thoughts about how something like that wouldn't be so friendly and approachable to people.

Catching up to Laila and Rolth, I can overhear Pham asking Laila for Fel, "Laila, can I try holding Fel please?"
Everyone is interested in little Fel huh? Can't blame them, I'm also curious but I'll just check on him later.
Pham's brother stopped holding back his own curiosity to take Fel away from Laila for a bit, "Here, let me try feeding him."
Cyl took out some dried meat and took a little piece off of it as Laila gives into curiousity handing over Fel to be able to try attempting at eating the dried rations.
Just in time, I got close enough to see Fel giving the piece of dried meat a sniff, lick, then biting the meat softly and chews once his teeth are away from Cyl's finger tips.

So the little creature can eat meat? I hope it won't get sick so I ended up warning Cyl about it, "Cyl, you can't just randomly feed Fel; he might get sick if you feed him something wrong."
Cyl stiffened up noticeably as he easily showed his concern but tried to open Fel's mouth but it looks like it was too late. I shake my head and sigh, "It's already too late now, don't feed him anymore and we'll try finding out what Fel can eat when we get back..."

Fel shakes his head trying to get Cyl'a fingers out his mouth and ended up escaping, scurrying back to Laila as I realized it really seems fond of her. Laila readily picks him back up keeping him away from Cyl as she glares at him shortly before turning away being slightly angry, ("Already that protective of Fel huh?...") She ought to take good care of him; hopefully it's not short term otherwise I'll be worried about her future children.
Despite how I am deluding myself as a father worrying over my daughter, we managed to safely get back home without issue. I take another look at Fel coincidentally at this time noticing his excitement as he looks around energetically while his tail wiggles about.
Hmm... what am I going to do with these children now?... it'll be a hassle to get them to go back home now because Fel is really popular.
("Ah, I jinxed it!"), I should've thought up of something before we got back. It's too late now that other children are gathering to Laila, specifically for Fel.
I look over at Ophelia but she helplessly smiles as she is momentarily giving up on these excited children and their curiosity. A few other adults are approaching me wondering about Fel as he really stands out especially since we don't have other animals around here.
I have to perform my duties first so I guess I'll leave the kids to Laila and Fel for now... thus I end up suppressing myself of my own curiosity until later.
