"It is time." Our Captain spoke to our group.

We all nodded in response.

Our group is currently surrounding a very popular inn near one of the gates of the city.

I have come to this place twice. The food and rooms are good, but they are still bad compared to the ones in the Capital.

But this time, we're not here for the pleasure of a warm meal. We are here to dispose of someone who didn't know their place.

"Remember, our target is Elise Crelet. She will be our main priority. But, as usual, we will dispose of everyone in the building. The magnificent Count of Alorari has made it so that the knights won't interfere tonight. In other words, you will not have a time limit." Our Captain explained the situation again.

We all nodded in response.

To be honest, I pity the girl. She's about to lose her life because the son of our boss can't keep his dick in his pants.

But well, she got it coming for beating up someone related to that man… Our boss…

I wonder… How many times will I need to kill someone because of that idiot of a noble.

I will never get how that man and Leon are father and son… The difference in attitude, personality and intellect is just abysmal.

Well, I shouldn't complain and just do my job just like usual.

"T, you will go first." My Captain pointed at the back entrance.

"Understood." I agreed.

"Secure the back entrance. I trust your abilities, so I'm sure it will be easy for you. As for the rest of us, we will enter using the windows on the second floor and the main entrance. Move out!" Our Captain gave his orders.

Our group was quickly dispersed and we moved towards our objectives.

I moved quietly, using the shadows as my cover. There should be no one awake at the inn this late at night.

(Perhaps if I run towards the room of our target, I can spare her from her suffering.) I thought to myself.

That might be hypocritical coming from me, but there's a few of my companions that are into having their way with our targets.

I think it is a distasteful practice. We're assassins, not rapists.

"..." In less than a minute, I had reached the back door of the inn.

I immediately picked the lock and after another minute I opened the door.

(Sigh… I miss working at the Capital… Why do I have to become the thug of a horny idiot? I didn't sign up for this… All those years honing my skills and here I am picking the lock of an inn to kill a moderately famous adventurer… I need a real challenge.) 

I was having those thoughts as I entered the inn. The moment I set food inside, something felt… Wrong…

My guard was up... I felt a knot in my throat… I was feeling very anxious…

(What is this…? Why is the atmosphere so different here…? I cannot hear anything nearby, but why do I have such a bad feeling?) I thought while analyzing every corner of the room.

There was nothing out of the ordinary in the room I had come into… It looked like a normal commoner's kitchen. 

Yet… There was something that was making my anxiety skyrocket…

There's definitely something wrong with this place… But I can't really tell what it is…

"..." I kept analyzing everything in order to get a clue about this bad feeling.

What should I do…? Should I get some backups? No… I don't think that will help in this situation.

The air felt so heavy… I was having difficulties keeping my own heartbeat stable.

Deep breaths… Take deep breaths… Calm yourself…

Finish the mission.

After repeating my usual mantra, I walked deeper into the inn despite that heavy atmosphere.

It didn't take more than a few seconds for me to reach the kitchen.

All of the tables were neatly arranged and cleaned. The room was impossibly clean… It was so clean that I found it a bit alarming…

I looked around the room… The bad feeling was getting stronger.

It got particularly bad when I set my sights on the staircase to go to the second floor…

It was for a split of a second, but my whole body trembled as soon as I saw them.

It was such an inexplicable fear, that I don't think I could even describe it properly.

(Gods… What was that…? Never in my life have I felt something so horrifying…) I thought while trembling.

In my training as an assassin, my mentors made me do some horrifying things and face many terrible things that a common person would faint just by thinking about it.

But this… The things I had to go through amount to nothing compared to that feeling…

(This is not good… If the bad feeling came from the second floor, then that means that the others are in danger…) O thought while looking at the staircase.

This is really bad… We cannot stop the mission now… I need to go there and warn them…

There's something bad up there… I cannot let my comrades face that…

I took a second to gather my courage and then ran towards the second floor…

I had unsheathed my weapon in order to be prepared for a surprise attack.

As soon as I reached the second floor, what awaited me there was… A large corridor with multiple closed doors and another staircase at the end. 

I didn't really feel anything about that staircase...

(Could it be that my mind was playing tricks on me? No… There's simply no way that's the case…) I quickly shook my head.

I refuse to believe that it was a hallucination…

I started walking with careful and steady steps… I was trying to make as little noise as possible.

Just as I was walking through the middle of the corridor, one of the doors opened...

I immediately raised my blade… I was preparing myself for combat, but then I relaxed when I saw it was one of my comrades.

When he noticed me, he made some hand signs to send me a message.

The message was: "This is the room of our target."

I nodded and started approaching that place.

My companion had gone back into the room.

I immediately made my way towards the room, three of my companions were there.

There was an open window on one of the walls of the room.

A person was pleasantly sleeping on the bed.

I approached my companions and nodded.

They nodded back.

One of them was going to take the blanket of that sleeping person in order to confirm if it was our target.

One of my companions didn't waste any time and removed the blanket…

(What…? What is this?) I looked at the bed with confusion.

My companions were in a similar state.

There was a white object with the shape of a person lying on the bed… I have no idea what that is…

It is neither moving nor breathing…

Wait… Why didn't my companions realize that sooner?

But before I could solve that mystery, the bad feeling had returned and it was way worse than before…

My entire body started trembling…

No… My entire body was screaming… It was begging me not to look at the ceiling.

"So I caught four flies with this trap… That's good!" A cheerful feminine voice spoke from above.

I wanted to look at the owner of that voice, but the bad feeling just got worse and worse 

The atmosphere in the room was so oppressive that it was unbearable…

"But are you guys really assassins? How could all four of you end up being caught in my web?" The cheerful voice asked with a flat tone.

Ehh? Web?

For some reason, I felt the need to look downwards…

"It… It can't be…" I was so shocked that I spoke without thinking.

My whole body was covered by something similar to a thread… It was so thin that it was barely visible.

When I looked at my companions, I noticed that they were in a worse state than me. Half of their bodies were completely covered by something white…

"That illusion Ai-chan prepared really did wonders!" The owner of the cheerful voice really seemed pleased.

That white thing looked like a cocoon… The mouths of my companions were covered by it...

"Well, time to dispose of you guys. Nothing personal… Just kidding, that asshole of a Guild Master made it personal." She spoke with a flat yet frightening tone.

I felt shivers down my spine as soon as she said that.

It cannot end like this… I won't die for that stupid joke of a noble…

Before I was completely bound like my companions, I prepared myself to unsheathe my blade once again in order to cut the threads that were covering my body.

But before, I could even do that…

"Do not move. I'll cut your neck if you do." A girl with a flat tone of voice spoke to me.

The tip of a dagger was being pressed against the back of my neck… 

"Wa, how did everything go outside?" The girl with the cheerful tone asked.

"4 dead people. We captured the rest. Ya hit one of them so hard that she ended up killing another three with the corpse of the one she hit. She also made a big hole in the wall…" Wa spoke with an uninterested tone.

Huh… Were they expecting us to come here… How? Why!? Did anyone betray us and told them? What's going on!

"I see! I guess it is time for me to WRAP this up soon!" The girl with the cheerful voice said happily.

"..." Wa kept silently pointing her dagger against me.

"Oh c'mon! It was a good pun and you know it!" The cheerful girl got annoyed.

"I don't get it actually…" Wa said with embarrassment.

"Forget about it! I wanna take care of them and see my hubby!" The cheerful girl's voice got closer towards me.

My entire being was trembling as soon as I saw the appearance of the cheerful girl.

She had the lower body of a white spider and a petite upper human body. She looked really young and small…

As soon as she touched the ground, her arms started moving… In mere seconds, My freedom was stolen thanks to her spiderweb…

I could no longer move… I could only look at her with fear…

"Now, what to do…? How should I dispose of all of you?" She tilted her head.

So this is the end huh…

I can't believe that I will actually die like this...

"Tomoko… We want to get money for these prisoners."

"Yeah, I know! I was just scaring them for a bit!" Tomoko, the white spider said cheerfully.

Ehh? Are they not going to kill us…?

"But which poison should I test first…? Paralyzing poison, sleeping poison, nightmare poison, hunger poison, truth serum… So many possibilities…" Tomoko said as she tilted her head.

For some reason Wa, the person holding the dagger decided to sniff me…

"This one is a woman… Tomoko, can we try the effect of the aphrodisiac on her?" Wa asked.

Huh?

"We can, but why?" Tomoko looked very confused.

"I'm curious to see how a woman would react to that kind of thing… It was very interesting seeing how Ru reacted to it last night." Wa said with a somewhat happy expression.

A-Are they planning to rape me!? I don't swing that way!

"Well, it does sound interesting. Why not! It is not like she can complain since she lost to us." Tomoko agreed to Wa's request.

Nononono! Why is this even being discussed!? I prefer death!

"Wai…-!" As soon as I opened my mouth, a large drop of a purple liquid fell inside my mouth.

Tomoko had spat at me…

I could only look at her with shock.

But that shock didn't last long…

My whole body started feeling so unbearably hot… My skin was way more sensitive than before… 

The threads that were binding me felt so good when I moved…

My vision started getting hazy and my legs were trembling…

I was losing my mind just after a few seconds of swallowing that strange liquid…

But contrary to being angered, I was ecstatic and overjoyed.

This was the first time in my life that I had felt such pleasure…

"At least we got something interesting to do until Ru and the others are done." Tomoko said while looking at me with interest.

By that point, I couldn't even understand what she was saying…

I just wanted to feel even better...
