I tried to think what would cause such an entry to appear but I was unable to come up with anything, and I eventually decided I'd discuss it with Elaine and Marian as they would hopefully be able to give me some advice. I otherwise looked over my Status and noted the new Skills, ever thankful that Elaine had taught me that I could separate my Skills out to into categories for easier viewing, though I wished that there was more control over it, since I wasn't sure why some skills were sorted the way they were.

The entire Racial Skills category was new along with all the Skills in it. Other than that, the Passive Skill Truth, and Novice $#@! were also new, though I was unable to read what the second skill actually was, though I was certain it likely had something to do with the newly revealed, and also unreadable Affinity that had appeared. I didn't hesitate to use Inspect on all the new entries, it couldn't hurt and if even one of them returned information it would be worth it.

Brand of The Dark Lord: A non-harmful brand used by the ruler of the Dark Forest, Demonweb, to track their quarry.

I didn't particularly want to believe that I was being hunted by the ruler of the Dark Forest, and I couldn't really imagine why, but at least on the bright side, I knew that it wasn't a directly harmful curse, though that could easily change if I was found. Novice #@%^ gave a description of unreadable symbols and letters that I was unable to decipher, as I had expected. Truth on the other hand gave a full description which peaked my interest.

Truth: Reveals the truth of the world. Combos with Inspect to show forbidden or hidden knowledge. 1/24

While I wasn't keen on the thought of learning forbidden knowledge, being able to see hidden knowledge sounded powerful. I was disappointed when I tested it out on my Gifts and it didn't reveal any new information, though I did learn that Truth and Divinity Breaker came from Heretic, that Sadism had come from Power from Pleasure and that Flames of Necrosis was from Phoenix Blood. They'd previously been locked entries, yet I had no clue as to how they'd suddenly come unlocked. Somewhat frustrated I almost resentfully Inspected the rest of the new Skills, though just as the last time I'd used Inspect on my Skills, I was unable to get a description for them only an experience value and if they were passive or not. The only other Skill that got a description was Flames of Necrosis.

Flames of Necrosis: The power of rot, death, and corruption contained in cold unforgiving flame. A power born from the subversion of all that Fire exists for.

I wasn't quite sure what to make of the ominous description, but I was pleased I finally had a skill that dealt with fire in some aspect, even if it was technically not really fire. I took some time to try and work out my new Skill that required active concentration to use. Carapace was what I focused on first, and I found that it was actually quite versatile.

I had been correct in my assumption that it was the reason for my strange chitin exoskeleton I'd awoken with. While it wasn't exactly fast I was able to grow and shed the shell at will, though doing so was somewhat painful, even with Masochism and Pain Nullification. Once shed, the shell quickly deteriorated and broke apart before turning into a fine powder, though I could extend the time by injecting magic power.

Probably the strangest part of this Skill was that I was restricted on where the carapace could grow. I was able to somewhat control what it looked like and if it was sharp or not, but for some reason I was only able to grow it around my limbs, shoulders and neck. It was like a suit of skimpy reverse bunny suit had been turned to armor, something that would have been popular in games back on Earth. The biggest downside was that it was rather heavy and it was going to take awhile for me to get used to.
