Third Arc (Fallen Heart) -  145. Independence Day I
Days passed, and independence day arrived. The sun had just risen on the eastern horizon but Luminus City was already crowded. Neatly arranged Euphorion flags adorn the streets and well-dressed civilians went to the square to celebrate their independence day.
Unlike the new year's party, on independence day, the civilians were usually gathered in the square and sang their national anthem after the bell rang.
It was a must for all civilians except the sick and elder who could no longer walk. They gave an exception for some professions such as doctors and guards since they couldn't leave their duties.
After the anthem and the short ceremony, the civilians were allowed to carry out their activities, whether working or relaxing. Even though it was a holiday, Euphorion gave civilians the freedom to do whatever they liked. But most of them gathered with their family or spent time relaxing. In addition, just like a New Year's party, several tables were filled with finger food, snacks, and drinks. All of it was provided by the castle.
On the other side, White Moon Castle held an official ceremony led by Angel. All of the ministers and nobles were present. The ceremony was only a bit of speech and closed with the national anthem of Euphorion. But after the ceremony was over, the castle usually provided entertainment for the guests, usually opera and singing. This time the castle decided to hold an opera in the west pavilion of White Moon Castle.
The pavilion's shape was a large dome that was dominated by white. This place was used as a function room for events like this since this was something that couldn't possibly be held in the hall.
The previous queen of Euphorion also used this place for tea parties since it was near the park. But it was hardly used by the late king Letos. Angel also only used this place once a year for this kind of event. But he decided to keep the place since he knew he would need it in the future, whatever it might be.
Facing a stage with decorations for the play, Rose and Angel sat in the front row. The best place where they could watch the show clearly. Claire and Cley were on their right and left to help them in case they needed something. While the other high nobles were behind or on the other side of the row of seats.
A play about how Euphorion won the war against the three kingdoms was on stage. It was an epic play with music, good actors, actress, and song. In addition to a beautiful face, the singer also had a singing ability that amazed everyone.
Not far from the royal couple, Chancellor Allan smiled proudly at his hard work. It was the Chancellor who arranged all of this since, without the official status, Rose could not interfere to arrange things like this. What she could do was give the Chancellor some advice. She did it after the royal couple's first date at the opera house.
But when most people barely blinked their eyes for the play and song, Angel was lost in his thoughts. For the past few days, Angel had carefully checked the history book every night. But he didn't find many clues other than what he found the first time.
Even so, the pain and emotions always pierced his heart every time he touched the dark king's castle on the map as if it was calling him. Or maybe… It was the crystal who asked him to go to that place. Unfortunately what he saw was only the same image. A man with dark hair that screamed in pain and a broken heart.
But lately, the pain has been reduced. The image no longer appeared in his mind. Instead, his curiosity about the place grew stronger every day. It scared him so he decided to keep that book and not open it again so he could control his emotions.
