Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 163. Angelus' Confession IV

"My apologies, Your Majesty. Princess Rose told me to deliver a special soup to you." A male voice came from outside the room. Then the sound of the door being opened followed. Accompanied by the sound of footsteps.

A servant in nice attire entered the room. That attire showed his rank and his status that he was not a lowly servant. He was a professional who usually served the king, the princess, or other important guests.

"Your Majesty, your food-" His words trailed off. Likewise with his steps. The servant was immediately stiffened in shock when he saw them. His eyes widened once he caught how Angel hugged Rose intimately on the bed. More than that, he also caught the sweat on the dark king's forehead and his heavy breath. Those made his imagination run wild, especially since he had never seen the princess in a man's arms like this.

Rather than panicking, Angel turned to the servant calmly.

"Why are you still standing there? Put the food on the table. Then you may leave." He even took advantage of that to pull Rose closer to him. He didn't know how many rats were still roaming the castle, but rather than getting sick, he would rather make the servant think that he was making love with her.

His voice dismissed the servant's mind, the servant quickly looked down awkwardly.

"Y-Yes, Y-Your Majesty," he said in a stammering voice. Without further ado, he placed the food on the table and hurried out without another word.

Once the door closed, she spoke again.

"Angelus, are you crazy? Do you don't care about your reputation anymore?" Rose whispered once she could get her voice out. This was the second time someone caught them in this state, yet Angel didn't seem to care. Instead, he used it to show off their intimacy boldly.

"It's a good opportunity to show off our intimacy to them. I won't waste it," he replied in a relaxed tone despite his nervousness.

'Of course, he's doing this for his plan,' Rose reminded herself. She knew it and it should be. But he also felt a part of him that was disappointed by his statement.

Rose was just about to open her voice, but he spoke again.

“Besides, it also gives me more chances to hug you a bit longer. It's the same as hitting two birds with one stone," he added.

That made Rose press her lips and bent her head a bit. Somehow, she could feel her face starting to redden due to his words. These were the words she had been waiting for.

"The servant is gone. I think you should to let me go," she said. Her voice sounded like a murmur.

“Hmm? Why?” he asked. “You don't like it? Didn't you already agree that this would be our real marriage?” The fact that Rose didn't struggle or fight, showed she just said it out of her embarrassment. Not because she didn't like him.

She couldn't deny that, yet she couldn't shake her nervousness.

"It's not the case. Your soup is getting cold. You should eat it while it's still warm," she reasoned.

"Then can you feed me like before?" he demanded out of the blue. His gaze showed how serious he was.

Rose gulped and tried to shake off her nervousness.

"Fine."

Upon that word, Angel released his hug.

Rose got up from the bed, took a bowl of chicken cream soup from the table, and sat beside the bed. Then she scooped up a spoonful of soup and brought it closer to Angel's mouth.

"Here you go," she said gently.

Angel smiled and opened his mouth. He ate the soup with great pleasure. After that, he drank some water from the glass on the table.

"Thank you," he said once he finished eating.

"You're welcome."

"This is really delicious," he praised. "I haven't tasted anything better than this for ages," he exaggerated.

"It's not because of the soup, isn't it?" she guessed.

He shook his head.

"No. It's because of you."

She blushed slightly at those words.

"Those sweet words won't work on me."

"Really?" he replied in disbelief since her expression said otherwise.

She pressed her lips upon his response.

"Anyway, when do you need me to check on the history book?" she diverted their conversation due to his unbearable gaze.

That question was enough to turn him into serious mode.
