Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 168. Bluff

Suddenly, a knocking sound filled the room, interrupting their conversation. "Your Majesty, I came to deliver your lunch," a servant's voice called out from the other side of the door.

Angel quickly pushed Rose back down onto the bed and waved his hand toward the curtain ties, untying them and covering their bed. He didn’t know what she had said to them and the others thought about the rescheduled meeting. But rather than sick, he'd rather make them think he 'had fun' with her last night.

Rose tried to sit, but Angel covered her mouth with his hand. "Come in," he called out to the servant.

The sound of the door opening and footsteps filled the room. Rose looked at Angel with a red face. Her heart pounded like crazy. She could feel her cheeks turning warm.

“Your Majesty, your meal is here," the servant announced.

"Just put them on the table," Angel ordered.

The sound of plates clattering on the wooden table could be heard as the servants placed their meal. Occasionally, they glanced at the bed. They wondered why the curtain covered it when they knew the dark king had woken up. It was unusual.

Some thoughts crossed their mind, especially since they knew the princess rescheduled an important meeting. They found it strange. But judging from what they saw, they guessed the royal couple decided to spend their first day doing intimate things.

Inside that curtain, Angel sharpened his hearing without making a word. Meanwhile, Rose, who couldn't bear her beating heart and turmoil feelings anymore decided to make a move.

Slowly, she dismissed his hand from her mouth.

"Aren't you afraid I'll scream?" she whispered.

Angel knew that Rose was only bluffing.

"I know you are only bluffing. If you are serious, you will do it without a warning," he whispered. His confidence was clear in his voice.

"What if I change my mind now?" she whispered. She couldn't help but be a little annoyed by his confidence.

"I dare you," he challenged. He even didn't budge, continuing to stare at Rose. "I believe you don't have the heart to do it," he added confidently. His voice was steady.

Rose let out a long breath. "You won. I do don't have the heart to do it," she whispered with a blushing face. Instead of pushing him away, she pulled his body and hugged him.

It surprised Angel. But then a smile formed on his face. He also tightened his embrace. He was happy she was so affectionate towards him.

The next second, what they could hear was the sound of the plates and their breath. They could feel the pulse of each other's hearts. Their bodies felt warmer.

"Your Majesty, we have put your food on the table. If you need anything, we are outside," the servant's voice called out from behind the curtain. The sound of footsteps and the door accompanied it.

"Finally they left..." Rose said, trying to sit up. But Angel did not let her go.

"What are you doing? Let me go," Rose said, her voice laced with frustration.

"I don't want to," Angel replied in a nonchalant tone. His eyes filled with a seductive gleam. "I want to discuss something with you," Angel said, refusing to let her go.

"Let me go first, we'll talk on the sofa," Rose replied.

But Angel continued to look at her with a smirk. "I'd rather talk here, we can talk like husband and wife," he said, his voice dripping with desire.

'Does he want to consummate our marriage?' she thought in a panic. But she was sure he was only playing with her. They would execute their plan, the meeting would start soon and she knew Angel wasn’t a person who would neglect his responsibility for this kind of thing.

Rose looked at Angel. Her eyes filled with annoyance. "Angel, I know you just want to play with me," she said, her voice laced with sarcasm.

But Angel just chuckled and pulled her closer. "Come on, Rose. Can't a husband and wife have a little fun?" he said, his lips hovering over hers.

Rose couldn't help but feel her resolve to melt under his touch. She knew that she couldn't resist him for long. But she also knew that she had to be strong. She couldn't let herself get swept up in his charms every time.
